OK first it was the epic BH thread about how great PL would be if she only listened to her customers. Then the other thread about PL. Then the Ali Edwards thread. And then seeing the links you all put in the threads. I kept passing by all the planner stuff because i don't 'planner' I keep an appointment book for work and thats about it. I tried bullet journaling once and didn't get far. so what was in it for me.
I looked at the PL life stuff but I'm not ready to jump in with a huge kit. not sure 'pocket' scrapping is for me. I haven't scrapped in YEARS!! Catching up is not going to happen. Then some where in all of those threads there was one link where the person 'planner' WAS her scrapbook.
Ummm huh? Hey wait What? hmmmmmmmmm Thinking began.
More looking at threads & links. I shopped 1/2 the day Saturday and i decided none of the planner layouts were for me. Then i googled down loadable ones and there were some that came close. Then i just laid it out myself in work and printed it on craft card stock. I Picked 2 vertical pages per week with 8 sections 1/day plus one extra. I laid the weeks out 'weird' because i started weeks on Monday so i had the extra block on weekends. I made my large box 2x4 and got the happy planner large punch. Then i went thru my phone and snap chat for pictures. I printed 4 pics per 4x6 photo and Voila! I have 'scrapped' or 'journaled' January & prepped for February. I already had the spine punch from my work appt book.
IN 2 DAYS! really 2 days I know its 'small' but i like it! January is a tiny bit sparse because i decided this on 2/1 but hey thats ok. I think i CAN do this going forward. and best of all i does't matter what anyone thinks because it just my 'journal' so it's private lol.
Who knew scrap bickering & gossip was so inspiring. LOL
THANK YOU

Did you use an app that made 4 photos on a 4x6? I winged it in PSE This is one thing the project life app is great for, it has tons of presets for 4x6 collages and is super easy. So in case you want an even simpler method to do this. dasmith2 tagging you because it seemed like maybe you were looking for an app for this?

Try Sara on Insta. She posts a lot of her planner pages and the format sounds similar to yours.

I can do collages in Picasa on my desktop, but not sure if I can with my photo editors on my phone- I’d love to be able to collage print right from my phone!

That sounds and looks awesome! I'm a big fan of doing your own thing and making it work for you. Crafting your own solution that suits your life can be so satisfying. I did my own thing for the past several years and it worked well for me. And when it didn't anymore I tried something different. Good for you

dasmith2 I use an app on my iPhone called PicFrame. It allows me to print many combinations of photos on a 4 x 6. It’s made photo printing for my project life so much easier and helped me keep up to date!

Yay, hop2! I'm so glad you found a memory-keeping system that works for you right now. Isn't it wonderful when you have this moment of revelation and realise there is something that just clicks?
Like joblackford, I find that I enjoy a system for a while, even madly so, and then move on at some point. It's great to explore, try and test out other ways to document life. Amanda Rose Zampelli worked in the vertical Happy Planner exclusively for a few years (not sure whether she still uses it this year). You might find some inspiration in her older blog/social media pages. She also has some Happy Planner process pages from a couple of years back on her YouTube channel.

hop2 I've been using the Day 1 app (recommended by the peas) as a way to organize what I want to document for the month. You can do multiple entries for one day if you want. It's been helpful for throwing in filler photos like a recent favorite food, news, currently reading, or a weather forecast screen shot. I'm more of an event scrapper and I forget to add the little things about life so this helps!

It's been helpful for throwing in filler photos like a recent favorite food, news, currently reading, or a weather forecast screen shot. I'm more of an event scrapper and I forget to add the little things about life so this helps! Well this is meant to be my journal. I’ve tried to journal before but it never lasts long. I like the idea of journaling but run out of steam pretty quickly. Some how I never really considered scrapbooking as ‘a journal’ but after going down the mega thread rabbit holes here it just sort of clicked. Why not a scrap/photo journal? So I’ve begun, let’s see how long it lasts? I printed out my month pages for the whole year but my weekly pages only thru February. I bought a tab stamp & die set on clearance at Michael’s to label my months in different colors only to get it home and realize it’s ‘backwards’ the thicker part of the tab is in the center so there’s no way to fold it over the page. Weird. Every other tab die out there the top thinner part of the tab is the center or fold. At least it was only 50 cents and I can use the arrow die. Then I went to a different Michael’s and got what they called a ‘planner clip’ stamp & die set ( also 50 cents )and the square ‘clips’ work perfectly as tabs for the months Attachments:

Ok now I’m working on my gift book for my sister about our lighthouse challenge.
Let me first admit prior to starting my planner journal scrapping I hadn’t scrapped in years! ( yes several years )
I used to do my travel books 8x8 & I am going to do my DD’s study abroad books 8x8 because I also snagged her some mixed picket pages to put her own photos in as I know she has so many I don’t have.
I usually pick 1-2 base sheet colors and 2-3 co- ordinating colors for my travel books it makes it easier to keep moving, choices are already made. For example I had a China book gift that was gold pages with black & red accents. My dad’s car book was dark brown or army tent green pages with tan accents.
Anyway the light house challenge was in Oct but ‘fall’ colors don’t say light houses to me. It was 2 cloudy dreary days so ‘summer’ paper will be out of place as well. The pictures are all grays & gray blues, maybe a bit of sand color here or there. What color do y’all think will work.
Craft brown pages ( like my journal ) with blue, gray & yellow accents? Gray blue pages with beige, cream & maybe a muted red?
I never had trouble picking colors in my life I think I’m just rusty!

I like this the gray/blue page plan, although I prefer white to cream. I would mix up the accent color depending on the photos.
Welcome back to the scrapbooking community!
