How would you feel if a coworker opposite sex/ gender) you are friendly with texted you a picture of you teaching ( taken from across the hall) and sent it to you with the caption” the view from my room.” and nothing else. Nothing inappropriate in photo, but person randomly sends it. We don’t share a room. I made a joke.
I thought it a tad odd to photograph a coworker ( again, nothing questionable) without them knowing. Like how often does he do this?

It all depends on my relationship with the person. Friendly relationship, no big deal. My friends and I will take random, spur of the moment, unplanned pictures of each other for fun. If it was someone that I felt might be stalking me in anyways, then I would feel uncomfortable. If he did it more than once, I would bring it up to my supervisor.

I worked closely with him 2 years ago. Don't see him very often this year-maybe 2x a week. I like him, just kind of taken off guard that someone would snap a picture from across a hall without talking to the person. The txt said "view from my window". At first I was like "WTH???" This guy never texts me. (got #off group txt).I laughed when I realized who it was, but kind of odd.

I'm not sure what to make of that. I think it would depend on what I thought of that person before the photo-taking. If you're "friendly with" the person, it's probably not a big deal. If not, then I would think it was a come-on.

It wouldn't bother me if we had a friendly relationship.

I probably talk to him one every other week for 5 min or so. Hardly run into him during the day.

If it was someone I was friendly with, nbd. And as someone who would prob do something weird like that, I can put myself in his shoes. Especially if you used to be close but no longer work closely — maybe he just misses joking around with you.
I wouldn’t be concerned unless there was something off about your relationship and it felt like a red flag.

If I used to work with the person closely, then don't, but see occasionally, and he thought you didn't know he was there that day, he was most likely saying HEY! HI! I'm over here too.

How did he get your number to text? Otherwise, seems like a RAK... maybe a compliment to your teaching abilities or your engagement with the class was endearing to capture or totally creepy......

I don't like when people do that, because the photo is never flattering. It's always mouth open, eyes closed, weird facial expression, mid chewing, etc.. If someone wants a photo, please ask and give me a few seconds to get my photo face on.

No biggie if he only sent it to you. If he sent it to others without my permission or knowledge, then I would be furious. I think he was just trying to have fun. No harm in a little fun at work.

I sneak photos of my little old lady for her daughters. The daughters love the photos. I am like family to them. Coworker is weird. Spooky.

I think he is reaching out to you to say hi. Unless there is any other red flag then I'd take this as a bit of fun. Assuming you can see him teaching, take a picture of him and send it back.
From the girl that thinks it is ok for men and women to be just friends. Or maybe he is flirting.

Your thread title makes this sound much worse than the actual situation. It seems harmless to me.

This happened at my job. Two co-workers are both married and just friends, nothing more. I know because I'm close with them. The woman was doing a presentation for the whole department and the male took a picture of her, she saw this and stopped to look at him like WTF. I don't know what he did with it, I know they are facebook friends. He's a funny guy so I'm sure he just had some funny intention with it.

NBD. I wouldn't think he likes me, I think he's just trying to have fun. I personally would love a pic of myself like that. Someone took a picture of me teaching a scrapbook class oh YEARS ago and my expression is so great, it's one of my favorite pictures and reminds me of happy times.

I'd probably get hand prints of my students.. u know the drawn cut outs and cover the window.. Whetherthis is acceptable would depend on the district, we are strictly not allowed to block the window with anything including coats hanging on the back of the door. This is part of the district’s child safety policy because they don’t want classrooms to be spaces where a child could be alone with an adult where no one else can see.

Maybe weird but it just depends on your relationship with him. From what you have said it doesn't raise any red flags for me. Sounds like he was just saying hi.

I would assume they thought it was a nice picture. That they thought you might like it.... even if you didn't. I try very hard to see the best in people, not the worst.

I wouldn't think to much about it. Maybe he saw you were really into whatever you were teaching and was trying to catch the moment? I guess I wouldn't think much about it, unless it turned creepy.
