Thank you, sarahsprettypapers and Skellinton! The fact that this is a 50th anniversary for WDW, too, has made it extra special. I’m not sure yet if the Dolphin will get the specialty entertainment/Disney characters, but I hope we do! The Dolphin is on Disney property but isn’t an official Disney hotel, so we’ll find out. We extended our stay till Tuesday a.m., although we’ll need to check out on Saturday morning and check back in to a different room that evening. Skellinton, the DAS pass is not limited to just autism/sensory issues, but I don’t know everything that qualifies. I have mobility issues, but we didn’t apply for it because of that. We got DAS because my DH will never fully recover from the results of the heart attack that he had 18 months ago. It’s not just mobility issues for him. This trip is as much a celebration that he survived against all odds, but also that he has recovered enough to take a trip like this, even though we needed extra rest days. Disney approved his getting the DAS. We have seen some young families taking advantage of DAS. Our grandkids are autistic, and they got DAS prior to their trip. They are the ones who told us about DAS and that we should request it. We have seen many in wheelchairs and on mobility scooters like us, who are using DAS. I don’t know all the qualifiers, but I recommend calling Disney to at least ask about it.

One of the reasons I was so determined to go this year is because it is my 50th birthday year as well. I can't wait to see the 50th decor, I hope it is still up with the Christmas decor. I can't imagine we will qualify for the DAS, but I do need to contact them to see exact what we need to do for rides. Not sure which ones require a transfer, all the "scaries" she won't ride anyway, and I will be able to tell which she can get in and out of once I have a list. I just don't want to go in not knowing what she can and can't do. I hope the storm isn't as dire as predicted and you can just enjoy your time together and get back to having fun soon!!

Especially Pere Noel and the Italian Witch. I cannot wait!!! Have you been to EPCOT before? I recommend getting the times of the performers you want to see and making a list of them in order of which way you're walking around the world. That way if you're in Italy and you want to see the one in Germany, you can pop right over then head back to Italy if you're not done there yet. They are very close together. They shows only happen a few times a day. We also really loved the little show they did in Norway. There were vikings out and about and we got photos with them. Belle meets in France in her beautiful winter costume. People start lining up far in advance. I just wanted to see her, not meet her, and got a pic from far away but that is some outfit. I don’t think I would plan a Disney trip during hurricane season again, but at least we got trip insurance. Oh no! I hope you can still have some fun at the resort. I just read that Disney's hurricane policy also kicked in so you should be getting something although the article wasn't clear. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip! I was in the show in 2012. Your whole time at Disney sounds so amazing! Thanks for sharing. It must have been really incredible. And stay safe this week!!

I will definitely make sure I take notes on who appears when, I didn’t realize it was scheduled I just figured it was random. I will be sure to plan it out, I really want to see them all. I will make sure to peek at Belle too. Is it her red hood outfit? Next to Tiana’s beautiful gown that is my favorite outfit of the princesses. I don’t like my pictures taken with the princesses though, just the furry characters, so I will just peek at her like you did. Thanks for the info! I am getting so exited!

Is it her red hood outfit? I think it was red. It was super plush velvet, lined with white fur. I got a good shot of her because there was a kid there with special needs. They had arranged for her to come out and go straight to him, grab his hand, and walk over to her spot. It was lovely. make sure I take notes on who appears when What date will you be in EPCOT? I can look it up in Touring Plans. I think the times are accurate there. You can PM me if you don't want to put that publicly.

Got home last night after a semi-ridiculous trip!
This week included no less than 1 urgent care visit on arrival day, 2 horrific thc induced sleepy highs that felt like death (never ever taking my mother's 2x strength gummies again in my life), many many good meals, way too many sweaty days.. I swear we've never ever been there when it was this hot! , a great break by the pool drinking fancy overpriced drinks, lots of art though I could have easily bought more.. a big ass pumpkin grogu candy dish, lots of laughs, and a flat tire that required a tow 15 minutes away from home adding an extra 3 hours to the trip 💀
Was it the most magical? Did things go accordingly? No.. not at all lol. The heat was fairly unbearable and not something I'd ever want to do again. We all decided Christmas was miles better in every way so I doubt we'll be making rounds to see the Halloween stuff again but I'm happy we did. It was still fun and despite the shortcomings I'm glad my mom got her last trip in. Chris and I have budget leftover that we're putting towards a smaller trip next year now that I think I've convinced him to fly vs drive.

Got my dining reservations (well, my ta did, 230 am was too early for this lady).
Nothing terribly fancy but I'm excited but she was able to get the time and dates I wanted!

Space 220 which, I know, we're only going for the atmosphere but we are going! The Jungle Cruise restaurant and Olga's cantina. Cp is the 9th, my ta is on that for me. Fingers crossed!. I wasn't super worried about the reservations, I was just more worried about the times and the days I wanted to go. I want to go for lunch since my mom barely eats anything with her cancer treatments. I didn't want to pay for a prix fixe dinner for her. As long as she can have a milkshake she will be happy! Also prefer to do sit down restaurants on the weekends since the parks tend to be more crowded.

We're also going to do one of the Mexican restaurants. I just could not remember what day so I will schedule that one for myself tonight. That one we are solely going so we can get the huge pyramid dessert. We will not have dinner that night. Just dessert for dinner!

Space 220 which, I know, we're only going for the atmosphere but we are going! The Jungle Cruise restaurant and Olga's cantina. Perfect! So glad you got these. They are very hard to get. The Skipper's Canteen has the gold orange bird statue inside. I missed it when we were there this Summer because I thought it was at EPCOT. They also have this dessert that's amazing. It's this: Panna-Connie's Congo Lime Delight We're also going to do one of the Mexican restaurants. I don't know which one is which either. We always grab quick service for the open air place that's on the water. It's got a shady covering so a nice place to rest in the shade and have a cold drink. Other great places to rest in shade or AC: Gallery in the China exhibit. It's always super empty. Inside America it's very open and quiet (if they've reopened since the fire) unless there is a singing group (but they only sing for 15 minutes). Near the bathrooms (outside) in America there is a nice shady bench as well. Certain times of day there is shade in the English garden behind UK. My favorite food is the fish n chips from Rose and Crown. They have a booth outside for takeaway. I'm so jealous. But I'm going in April so I'll just take your tips. Oh, we also always watch the parade in Frontierland under the awning of the DVC seller. There are some other shady places in Frontierland where you can get shade. Plus it's where the parade starts so there is a lot of energy.

Disney/universal question. We leave in 11 days and I am wondering does everyone normally get the photo package? I was thinking of getting it for Mickey's Halloween party, but can't decide if I should just see what photos we get and pay individually or buy for our whole trip. We are only at Disney for 3 days and am not sure we will have the patience to wait in line for pictures. I was curious how treasured the pictures are for scrapbooking.

For me, the more pictures the better, especially since I'm actually in most of the ones they take. We did 6 days at DW and 3 at Universal in 2020 and I took over 1,600 (dSLR) and Disney took almost 400. That's between rides, character greets, and randomly stopping at photographers. The longest line we waited in was for Minnie at DHS and that line was maybe 30 minutes. At Universal Studios, they took 40. I'd still purchase that package again, too. The trip we took in 2017 had even better photos taken by Disney simply because I got caught up crying when my daughters met Anna and Elsa. They were the last two in the line, so they got to meet them both, whereas you usually meet one and then the other. The sisters were interacting with my girls and they'd brought their own Elsa and Anna dolls, so it was just... magic. I snapped a few shots, but the Disney photographer captured so much more. My kids and husband went to visit Tinkerbell and I couldn't catch up because I got stuck shopping for art near Gaston's. Photographer got those shots, too. And the magic shots? So fun! We've "held" Tink, Chip, Sebastian... had Peter Pan fly over us, Olaf dance with us, and flown away with Mickey balloons.. it's just more magic for us. While I do have to be conscious of a budget when I'm planning hotel, tickets, dining, traveling, the photos are always the thing I'll splurge on. But, definitely to each their own. 11 days is SUPER exciting though and I hope you have the best trip!

I don't know about Universal's PhotoPass, but we ALWAYS get Disney's. They have taken AMAZING photos! A lot of cute candid stuff you don't realize is happening. (Like Aladdin or Mr. Smee trying to steal my princess crown.) Waiting in line for Characters. Different hugs, expressions from you and/or the characters. (We must have 15+ from 1 visit with Moana.)
We also have great together shots from around Epcot, on Hollywood & Sunset Blvd. with the Millennium Falcon, the castle, all over the place! Plus, ALL the ride on photos.
I would second the Magic shots are so fun! You never know who or what is going to be in the photo with you. We've had Hitch Hiking Ghosts, Iago, Porgs from Star Wars, the droid K2-SO, Daisy, Donald, Timon & Pumba, Donald, Huey, Dewy and Louie, Figment, Headless Horseman, Orange Bird, plus a bunch of Holiday ones with all kinds of stuff.
For us we love it. I include a lot of the photos in our trip albums. The upside is getting a lot of great quality photos. On the downside tit is an added expense.

I love the photo pass too. Mostly because the people I travel with take lousy photos, and I want a picture with me actually smiling and not my mouth open with scowling face because I am barking directions like, “Hurry up, I have been here 10 minutes, did you get one yet? Could you stand in the general vicinity of us and not back up to get the entirety of the park in the photo? It is the big round button on the screen. “. If they are using the DSLR “the camera was on, did you turn it off? If all you see is black, you turned it off. No, don’t adjust the settings we don’t need to look like we are in a blinding light. For the love of God stop holding the camera by the lens.” Etc etc.
The magic shots are super fun as are the ride shots. I am also not above using some of the stock photos they typical provide.

I love the fish and chips. To read them but don’t need to sit down inside the restaurant to enjoy them, this way I can eat them and wander around! I just saw that Disney published the Times of each of the characters in Epcot. I’m really glad for that, I thought it was just kind of random and you had to just hope to see them. I am going to print up a list of their daily visiting times so I make sure I see them all.

I am really excited about the skippers canteen, I have heard that the theme is really great which is one of the things I love most about Disney. I love a good theming. I’m also excited to know Orange Bird is in there. I plan on making sure I see all 50 statues and I would be very sad if I missed him. He and figment of my favorites.
I was in Disneyland for their 50th and they had 50th hidden Mickeys hidden around the park. I think we found 47 of them, this was pre-Internet phone carrying around with you so I was always kind of bummed we never saw all of them. I am will be googling if I cannot find all the 50 statues. I think the app has a way to keep track of which ones you have seen, I need to investigate that or I will have to make myself a list of what the statues and Google the ones I don’t find myself.

In Universal Studios news, since we decided to skip Mickey's Christmas Party, we're going to do the Universal Holiday Tour. It's the night of our Topolino's Terrace Breakfast, so it's gonna be a busy day of characters and swapping hotels. >.<

I decided on Josh Gad just because it was later in the trip and it will be fun to continue my streak of seeing Disney legends for CP. We will have to eat with the old people at 445, but that is fine by me. Opted for Garden Grill because I love stuffing and I hope the characters will be out. So relieved, but I should be sound asleep right now since it is 4 am.

I've never eaten there but I love the characters who come by. Promise me you'll ride living with the land and also the Figment ride. Oh, and inside the gift shop that's in the middle (between the future world and the lands, facing the lake, it's on your left), is a massive orange bird on top of a display with the number 50. That shop has all the orange bird merch. There is a map you can buy and if you do the scavenger hunt, you get a prize. When we were there it was a lunchbox and it had orange bird on it. I asked for the lunchbox when we bought it as that's the only reason I actually bought it. I really hope that it is still there when you go.

There is a.reason I go 10 days. I want to do everything.

I went to our local CKC today and Paper Wizard was there, I got this beautiful thing to use on my opening page for my WDW scrapbooks. paperwiz.net/collections/brand-new-theme-park/products/50-years-of-magic-castle-titleIt is even prettier in real life (and it was cheaper too). I could never cut anything that fancy with my cameo, nor would I want to, there are sooo many layers. I really wanted something to commemorate our 50th birthday.
