I’m on day two of two of our anniversary getaway. Can't wait to hear all about it! Hope you're having a great time. I haven't purchased any specific Disney shirts yet and I know I want at least one. It's so hard to choose tho. I am trying to find a Lilo shirt for myself (red with white leaves) My friend was Lilo when we went. She found a dress on Amazon that was the red background with white leaves. The top of it was all the rows of elastic (no idea what that's called). But she just was able to fold it down and make a wide waistband and wear it as a skirt. She wore a green shirt with it. It was Christmas. I had a vintage green and white skirt that I wore with a red top so we were mixy matchy. Maybe if you can't find the perfect red and white shirt, you can find a Lilo shirt that's plain and pair it with a skirt. My daughter is going with band and they are handing out their shirts when they get there (what, no washing?). She wants to start planning her outfits but has no idea how. Hopefully they will show them photos.

Well, looks like we're going to try to plan a Disneyland trip! I've been, but that was when DH was not into riding anything except water rides (20 years ago). It'll be a whole new world now, especially with the kids. Does anyone know where I could start looking to plan or is it just not a thing since it's not as big as DW?

Does anyone know where I could start looking to plan or is it just not a thing since it's not as big as DW? Touring Plans has a Disneyland forum. I think it's before the paywall but I'm not sure. The people there are very nice. In my Disney news, I have been following someone on Insta called traci reed. Today she posted that she was the designer behind the new Echo Park Disney collection and that it made her want to take a trip. I wanted to comment that it was clear she had never been based on the designs but I thought that would be mean so I just unfollowed. I'm sorry but I just can't with all the freaking red and yellow. The only damn thing in all of the WDW parks that is red and yellow is Mickey Mouse's outfit. And he didn't wear it for the 50th and isn't wearing it for the 100th. I'm so glad that Simple Stories got the message. And the stuff KP put out last year wasn't bad. Social Paper Plan has some good stuff too but I'm over the red and freaking yellow. OVER IT. Give me some EPCOT, people.

I am not a huge fan of the yellow/red/blue color scheme either, and wonder what inspired it. Aside from Minnie and Mickey, the only thing that really comes to mind is that Snow White was the first full length animated film, and those were her colors.
But honestly, the Disney universe is so expansive now, there isn't really a set color scheme for it. I agree that Simple Stories most recent collection and mini kits were awesome, and I hope they plan to do the same with the other parks.
Oh, but a fun fact: the purple and red road signs are being converted to blue/yellow/white ones. So at least those will match the typical paper collection color scheme, ha!

Maybe because Traci Reed is one of my favorite digital designers, I feel the need to defend her a little. Echo Park has a well established set of collections based on that color scheme with a little light blue and sometimes pink added in. The collection she created is Wish Upon A Star 2. I imagine when Echo Park asked her to design the collection, there were some parameters that they asked her to stay within. Curious what missed the mark enough to make you unfollow her? (aside from the color scheme). Or what was obvious that she had never been to Disney?

Curious what missed the mark enough to make you unfollow her? I just wasn't into her feed overall so it was just the last straw. I am following so many people I'm trying to cut out what doesn't inspire me. She did nothing to offend me and seems like a nice person but it was pretty clear she had never been to Disney. Echo Park should not have asked her to design the collection. Or maybe I'm just mad at Echo Park overall and took my frustration out on her. Their travel line doesn't do it for me either and I usually really like Echo Park. I feel bad for being harsh. Is there another traci who does digital designs? I bought a couple of collections in the Fall and they might even be hers so I should consider the unfollow. I'll check when I'm home from work.

I recommend downloading the Disneyland app and start getting yourself acquainted with it. Maps, dining locations, menus, etc are all there. Get a feel for navigating it because you need to use the app a lot while in the park. Mobile ordering your food is a must. Saves a huge amount of time. Your wait will be like ten minutes versus 40. Will you be visiting CA Adventure too? This is my home base, and I’ve been frequently recently. I can answer a lot of questions. I haven’t found any good resources for planning trips (and I did use those heavily for WDW trips years ago). Sometimes I see good info about the parks on the Disneyland subreddit, and there are a couple YouTubers who give park updates constantly (instagram too), and that’s primarily how I stay in the loop.

In addition to the advice already given, I suggest watching YouTube videos about Disneyland, especially regarding the restaurants. We went to WDW and Harry Potter parks at Universal Studios in September. DH watched YouTube videos till I thought I would scream, but it was really helpful in figuring out where to eat, especially since we both have dietary restrictions. The videos helped in other ways, too, in planning and preparing. Our DD and her DH have been to Disneyland recently, and they agreed that it really does help to plan ahead, regardless of which park you go to. Some of our kids (all adults) are planning a trip to Disneyland, and we are considering joining them, so DH has started watching YouTube videos about Disneyland, and the videos are looking just as helpful as the ones we watched before going to WDW.

Will you be visiting CA Adventure too? Yes ma'am. Right now I'm looking at 4 days for both parks and staying at a Disney hotel for the extra 30 minute entry. We are total rope droppers. Apparently, we'll be there for the Halloween stuff, too, which was not planned, but we're excited. Our main reason for going is Avengers Campus for my DS. He is the biggest comic book loving kid and he'll be 10 when we go. This last DW trip everyone rode just about everything at least once, so that'll be new for us. I'm a total Disney mobile lover, so I'll make sure to get the DL app and mess around - thank you for the reminder! We have a while to plan, but clearly more time than if I were planning DW. scrapnnana I'll check on the videos, too. I usually hate videos, but I'll suck it up for this. I can't imagine we'll go back to DL anytime, soon since we're closer to DW, so I really want to make it an all out fun fest. As a non-Disney trip, one DD wants to visit the tide pools. Any kind of suggestions there honeypea? We'll be driving from KC and possibly head to the SD Zoo after DL, if that helps? We're not total n00bs to CA since we used to live in Las Vegas, but it's been over a decade. Thanks again, everyone. My first DL book is on hold at the library and I can't wait to start jotting down some more notes.

Re: Halloween party - I was just looking at prospective dates! It looks like tickets are likely to go on sale in May. Last year they sold out so fast. I am hoping to get them for this year, fingers crossed. Annual pass holders get a go first, so I am hopeful. Virtual queue to buy them was hourssssss long too. 🫣
I’m not a good resource for beach stuff. I think Laguna can be great. San Clemente? I’m just naming places where I have family live who’ve posted tide pool pics. 😆

I appreciate the couple of names anyway. I'll let her research on her own a bit, too, since this is her thing.

I mostly just print digital journaling to use in paper scrapbooks, so I'm not up on all of the designers. The line didn't seem that different from other Echo Park collections, so I was just wondering about your comment about the designer. I totally understand the frustration with the color scheme, similarity to previous collections etc. Sorry you don't like the travel line either. None of the 8 new Simple Stories collections are my style, and they're usually one of my favorites, especially their summer collections, so I understand the disappointment.

I'm usually all over Simple Stories but only picked up some of that weird tiger paper -- and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with it. Tigers!

If you are talking about Traci Reed, she has her own digital scrappy business, but has also designed for Echo Park, Catherine Pooler, Simple Stories and Cocoa Vanilla. I personally enjoy following her. She typically works in smaller formats, plays with mixed media, and offers freebies.

Enabler alert: www.scrapbook.com/store/sbc-sskit-9a.htmlScrapbook.com has these kits on sale, album included. They also have just the paper for 2.99. I'm not into all of the designs but the price is worth it for what I will use of it. There is a pastel one and there is red and black one.

I thought it would be super fun to have the Disney albums all plush. If I hadn't already bought them, I'd be all over these. Someone used the 6X8 green for DD and it was gorgeous.

I am 10 days out!!!
Anyone else have a trip coming up?
My daughter is leaving with the band on the 11th but we have to bring her suitcase to school on Tuesday so it can be sniffed by dogs and loaded into the buses ahead of time. We'll be packing her stuff this weekend. They have made shirts for all the kids so they will match. They posted photos of them so at least we'll know the colors but we aren't getting them until Monday.
I have been planning the trip for me and my childhood friend. And another band mom is staying somewhere else but tagging along with us. It's going to be so fun.
Plan: Tuesday I fly in, check into Pop. I'm going to swim for a bit then head over to one of the skyliner resorts for dinner. Wednesday we go to EPCOT. Thursday we're going to play mini golf, check out the boardwalk, then go to the Poly for Trader Sam's and hopefully the fireworks on the beach. Friday the band marches at Magic Kingdom. Saturday my flight isn't until late so I'm going to head to Disney Springs.
My little TN is done and ready to go. I stamped the dates on each of the intro pages for each day with my roller stamp. Turned out ok.

Anyone else have a trip coming up? I'm a ways out, but so excited for your trip! Sounds like you're super prepared and should be a whirlwind. I used a TN for journaling a trip once, but then documented the trip in an album, just tucked the TN into the album. I stamped the dates and a weather stamp so I could fill it in each day. Super time saving and helped me remember I should write that down instead of Googling later.

What is a weather stamp? I think it sounds like I need that! I can't remember if it's a KP or a SC, but it was like a rectangle with boxes to fill in the high/low and then I wrote if it was sunny or something like Orlando sporadic rain shower happened below.

An FYI - with the 100 celebration they have released a new set of medallions. Silver coins, 100 logo on one side and the reverse has all sorts of different characters. $6 each, or sets of 4 for $20. Machines throughout parks and resorts (at least in CA). There will eventually be 100 coin designs in all, currently there are 40something out.
There is also an album, six rings, with coin pockets. I got this album to use as a mini album. It is metallic silver, has the 100 artwork on the cover. It’s cute!
I think it’s probably an A5 size. Regular 6 ring protectors, like from AE, don’t fit the length. Each set of 3 rings are the same, but the length between sets of rings is too close. Meaning, if you cut a standard AE in half, making it 4” long, the three holes on that pp would work in the album. Hope that makes sense. Rings are small, comparable to a 3x8 album sized rings.
Pricey, I think it was $27 😬, but pretty fun for a scrapbooker obsessed with Disney. 🫣

Okay, I have an odd question. Not sure anyone here can help, but I figured I should at least ask.
DH and I have our own mobility scooters. When we went to Disney World in the fall, we drove, so we were able to take our own mobility scooters with us. Most of our kids are planning a trip to Disneyland, CA. They invited us to join them, This time we are going to fly. Our hotel will be right near Disneyland. Our scooters can fly free, but here is the big question:
Do you know of any shuttle, Uber, or other transport services that can get us AND out scooters from the airport to the hotel? It would be far less expensive than renting scooters, and having our own scooters that we are used to would be so much nicer. However, there is no point in taking them if we can’t get them from the airport to the hotel, and back to the airport again when we need to come home.

I’m not a great resource on this, however I did just see an insta post about shuttles running from John Wayne to Anaheim for $15 per person and they utilize the public bus stops (ART). I’m not sure if that would accommodate you, but it’s possible. Maybe call the transit department of the airport you’re flying into and ask them for recommendations.

I am just here to add a resturant recommendation. We celebrated my son's birthday yesterday at Disney Springs, and he chose to eat at The Polite Pig, a BBQ place. It was soooo good! The beef tips with mushrooms and rice, oh my goodness. My very picky toddler ate most of my meal!
10/10, would consume their food again. 😊
