Yikes. That sounds painful. Ice on your head if it is burned.

She said she called an ambulance and they said it was ok... OMG.. Go buy some flashlights and battery operated candles.... I was avoiding saying this, but yes! All the safety folks and first responders warn you to not use candles. All things considered, you got off lucky. Hope it's not hurting too much.

I would be terrified if my hair caught on fire - such a scary thing. Glad you're okay. And definitely use something with batteries instead next time.

If your nurse friend said it was ok to wash your hair now, she is wrong. you need to leave the burn to seal over, if raw. Most burn centers just use lotions/ointments now, vs water, or rinsing. Just give it time.
I think Elannah is confusing her hair burned short, to burned her scalp. I think she just actually burned her ear, and hair short. Or I could be wrong. Who knows.

Put a baggie over your ear if you really need to wash your hair.
Well I would wash it because burnt hair is one of those gag worthy smells.

I would play it safe and not wash my hair if I were you Elannah. I know you want to, but as you said you are going to see your doctor tomorrow. Burns are very tricky-if they aren't treated correctly they can lead to infection very easily. I know the ambulance crew told you that you were okay, but did you ask them if you were okay as far as washing your hair? I would not wash my hair until my doctor has seen those burns, treated them and told me it was okay to wash my hair. In my eyes I figure it's always better to be safe than sorry.
I'm so sorry you were burned in this way. You must have been so scared.

I wouldn't wash my hair until I had seen the GP and had Medical advice on how to keep clean and treat. Hope you heal soon.

Oh no, you poor thing! I set my long hair on fire on the gas stove years and years ago. It was awful. I’d never had a gas stove with a flame, and just didn’t think about it, bent over to grab something off the floor and my hair swung through it. DD was a baby and I felt like the worlds biggest idiot! I burned my neck where I grabbed at my hair and smooshed it to me.
No advice on the haircut, once I got the crinkly burned hair off it did blend in enough I did not have to cut all mine though. So you may not have to do a pixie cut or something. But leave it be u til you’ve seen a dr, burns get infected so easily that washing seems like a bad idea until you get the all clear.

I'm really sorry that happened to you, I hope you will be okay.
And I can totally see something like that happening to me, no judgement here!

Did you see the GP today? I wouldn’t wash my hair, but I don’t wash mine very much as is Yes I just saw her. She says tie back my hair, I can wash it but gently. See her in two weeks. All is good. I am surprised I haven’t had any nightmares. I mean my hair was in flames and that is pretty freaking scary!

I’m so glad you saw your doctor and things will be okay. We all do things that on reflection are dumb. I hope you feel better soon.
