Blumenthal's response:
Channel 3 received a response from Blumenthal's office later in the morning on Wednesday.
"We generally decline to waste time engaging with Trump’s brazen lies about Senator Blumenthal," the statement read. "Nothing new here. But the American people should be concerned about the President of the United States squandering time and energy during sensitive negotiations with a serious nuclear threat peddling falsehoods about a political critic."

I believe the bit about questioning if one should have children if they have student debt seems to have been glossed over. Which, if I’m not mistaken has very little to do with the fight against climate change. As to people not having children to save the planet, that is a discussion that may need to be made. But not today, indeed not until after November 2020. Right now the only focus the Democrats should have is kicking trump out, keeping the majority in the House, and keeping and picking up Senate seats so that they get the majority. And what the Party does not need at this time is some loud mouth Congresswoman telling people if they can have kids. And that is exactly how the right will phrase it and make AOC the face of the Democratic Party. George W should not have won his second term as president. But he did and there are two reasons/theories why he did. 1. Kerry was “swift boated” and 2. Gavin Newsom , while mayor of San Francisco, had his city clerk start issuing marriage licenses for same sex couples. A move that all but guaranteed those on the right that may have stayed home, came out to vote because they were afraid a Democratic President would make same sex marrages legal. George W was a bad President, but trump and the Republican leadership makes W look like a saint. And if we don’t get them out, all this talk about aggressively fighting climate change, at least in this county, will continue to be just talk. And right now, AOC is the Gavin Newsom of this election cycle, except she is on steroids. And, the Republicans will make her the face of the Democratic Party which could very will give trump a second term. And moderate Democrats could also stay home if they believe AOC is now what the Democratic Party is. I do believe this election in 2020 could be the most important election in this country’s history and we had better get it right. They tried to make last November about Nancy Pelosi all the way over here in NJ. So yes the right will make 2020 about AOC and anyone else who the can villainize. It’s Disney politics & they *NEED* a villain in order to be the knight on the white horse. And the base will eat it up. Someone told me that Trump is the only thing keeping doctors from killing newborns in hospitals all over the country. I swear I looked at her like she had six heads and each was a different color. She kept blathering on & on like I’d somehow just believe her if she kept saying it. I did what I had to do and got out of there because that is a lost cause. There is no question the Republicans will do these ridiculous votes like the one you mentioned. And they will run on the results. And that is why the Democratic Party does not need AOC and her helpful comments right now as another distraction. In theory I agree with most of what she is saying. But there is the other half of the country who thinks she is radical leftist crackpot. Win the election, change the decision makers in DC, have a real debate of what is right for the country when there is a real chance of getting it done is all I’m saying.

HOWEVER, I partially agree with the complainers in that the bill does this ONLY for the presidential candidates not for all the state legislators & state politicians. Either transparency is needed or its not, you can’t have it both ways. If they ‘need’ tax returns for transparency to be on the ballot then it’s needed at all levels - or its not. That is where I think it is wrong, not suppressing my vote. Agree 100%. let them ALL provide their tax returns!!

”The most important of Cohen's statements is also the one most easily proved: That Trump reported inflated values of assets to insurers and in financial statements, but undervalued assets for tax purposes. Lay-up crime (tax/insurance fraud) with easily obtained documents.”

linkNBC News... ”U.S. drops demand for full accounting of N. Korea nuclear program ahead of talks” “Negotiators focus in on Yongbyon reactor, the "heart" of North Korea's nuclear program. HANOI, Vietnam — U.S. negotiators are no longer demanding that North Korea agree to disclose a full accounting of its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs as part of talks this week between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un, according to current and former senior U.S. officials. The decision to drop, for now, a significant component of a potential nuclear deal suggests a reality that U.S. intelligence assessments have stressed for months is shaping talks as they progress: North Korea does not intend to fully denuclearize which is the goal Trump set for his talks with Kim. Disclosure of a full, verifiable declaration of North Korea’s programs is the issue over which the last round of serious negotiations between Pyongyang and world powers, including the U.S., fell apart a decade ago.” Maybe I’m missing something here, but should we not get full verifiable declarations of all of North Korea’s nuclear program before we start giving things away?

Seriously then what is the point. When it comes to nukes and dictators it has to be all, not just some.

linkIt would seem trump didn’t really understand his new BFF after all. trump found out what those before him knew. North Korea wants the sanctions lifted while they keep their nukes. The difference, trump gave Kim Jong Um wanted. Two meetings with a US President. trump a couple of days ago.. ”So funny to watch people who have failed for years, they got NOTHING, telling me how to negotiate with North Korea. But thanks anyway!” “Chairman Kim realizes, perhaps better than anyone else, that without nuclear weapons, his country could fast become one of the great economic powers anywhere in the World. Because of its location and people (and him), it has more potential for rapid growth than any other nation!” Reality.. The Atlantic... “After Raising the Stakes for North Korea Summit, Trump Walks Away”It seemed history was about to be made. Then the second meeting between the U.S. and North Korean leaders concluded abruptlyThe expectations were enormous: Perhaps Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un would, at a summit in Vietnam, finally declare an end to the Korean War, establish liaison offices in each other’s capitals, and trade the destruction of North Korea’s main nuclear facility for the easing of sanctions against Pyongyang. There was a palpable sense that history was about to be made. Instead, the second meeting between the two leaders ended in failure on Thursday, with a table set for a leaders’ lunch abandoned, a signing ceremony scrapped, and a terse statement from the White House press secretary: “No agreement was reached at this time.” In a press conference pushed forward by a couple of hours, Trump revealed the sticking point that had scuttled talks: Kim wanted all international sanctions lifted as a condition for dismantling only his Yongbyon nuclear complex, which produces plutonium, tritium, and highly enriched uranium to fuel nuclear bombs. But American negotiators weren’t willing to relieve the economic pressure that the United States has painstakingly amassed and maintained without Pyongyang providing a full inventory of its nuclear-weapons program and doing away with the components beyond Yongbyon, including additional suspected uranium-enrichment sites, ballistic missiles, nuclear warheads, and weapons systems.”

Kyle Griffin..
”Here's the video of Trump defending Kim Jong Un on the case of Otto Warmbier, the American student who died last year after being imprisoned in North Korea.
"He tells me that he didn't know about it, and I will take him at his word." Via ABC”
Phillip Rucker..
“Trump took Vladimir Putin at his word on Russian election interference.
He took MBS at his word over the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi.
And today in Hanoi he took Kim Jong Un at his word over the death of Otto Warmbier.”
Even though our own intelligence says otherwise.

linkSome highlights of trump’s press conference before he left Vietnam. Daniel Dale.. “Trump on exercises with South Korea: "And I was telling the generals, I said, 'Look, exercises is fun and it’s nice and they play the war game. And I’m not saying it’s not necessary because on some levels it is, but on other levels it’s not.'" “The Pentagon said US-South Korea military exercises cost $14 million. Trump said, "I gave that up quite a while ago because it cost us $100 million every time we do it." “Asked about China's influence on North Korea, Trump said China has "great power," but he added of North Korea's dictator, "They’re not taking orders from anybody. He’s a very strong guy, and they’re able to do things that are pretty amazing." “Trump: "Believe it or not, I have a great relationship with almost every leader. A lot of people find that hard to understand, but I do."
”Asked about Kim continuing to amass more missiles and nuclear material since the first summit, Trump said, "Well, some people, David, are saying that, and some people are denying that. They have shots from above, way above. And some people are saying that and some people aren’t." Reading a transcript of trump’s press conferences is just as bad as listening because you don’t have the distraction of watching him talk and therefore actually read each word he says. If that makes sense. From todays’s PC, his answer when asked about resuming military exercises with South Korea... ”You know, the military exercises, I gave that up quite a while ago because it cost us $100 million every time we do it. We fly these massive bombers in from Guam, and when I first started a certain general said, oh, yes sir, we fly them in from Guam, it’s right next door. Right next door is seven hours and then they come and drop bombs and go back. We spend hundreds of millions of dollars on those exercises, and I hated to see it. I thought it was unfair. And frankly, I was sort of the opinion that South Korea should help us with that. You know, we’re protecting south Korea. I think they should help us with that. So those exercises are very expensive. And I was telling the generals, I said, look, exercises is fun and it’s nice and they play the war game. And I’m not saying it’s not necessary because on some levels it is, but on other levels it’s not. But it’s a very, very expensive and we do have to think about that, too. But when they spend hundreds of millions of dollars on those exercises, we don’t get reimbursed, and we’re spending a tremendous amount of money on many countries, protecting countries that are very rich that can certainly afford to pay us and then some. And those countries -- by the way, and those countries know that it’s not right. But nobody’s ever asked them before, but I’ve asked them and we’re gaining a lot of money. We’ve picked up over $100 billion just in nato over the last two years, $100 billion. More has come in. And we’re doing that with a lot of countries. You’ll be seeing that a lot. Yes, sir, please. One second, please.”

linkFrom Newsweek.. “NANCY PELOSI POURS COLD WATER ON ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ'S GREEN NEW DEAL: 'THAT GOES BEYOND WHAT OUR CHARGE IS'“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested the Green New Deal touted by her Democratic colleague Represesntative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is too broad and unfocused to be successful in Congress at a time when climate change needs “focused, determined, decision-making.”
The Green New Deal is a wide-ranging stimulus package that spans investment in climate-friendly infrastructure, a guaranteed job for all Americans “with a family-sustaining wage,” restrictions on fossil fuel technology, and “high quality health care” for everyone. A Green New Deal resolution submitted by New York Democrat Ocasio-Cortez to the House states the package responds to “several related crises” in America—social, economic, and environmental—the latter being an existential threat to the whole planet. Ocasio-Cortez was also involved with a sit-in at Pelosi’s office in November, before she entered Congress, organized by campaigners from the Sunrise Movement to demand more action on climate change. In an interview with Rolling Stone, published Thursday but which took place in January, the veteran California Democrat said the Green New Deal, the cost of which is likely to run into the trillions of dollars, “goes beyond what our charge is. Our charge is about saving the planet.”
Pelosi continued: “And then they have, I don’t know if it’s single-payer or Medicare for All.... It’s kind of, like, a broader agenda. All good values, but nonetheless, not what we hope to achieve with this focused, determined, decision-making: You’re either for the planet or you are not. There is no Plan B for the planet. We have to preserve it, and it is in great jeopardy.” She also said: “You have to make decisions that you’re going to reach certain goals, and some of our goals we think are achievable. That’s why public opinion is so important.”
In one anecdote shared by Pelosi, she called House Republicans “pathetic” when recounting how, after Democrats lost their majority in the 2010 midterm elections, the GOP restored Styrofoam to the cafeteria. “No more recycling, everything went in the same trash,” Pelosi said. “You know, they’re really pathetic. Because they are just handmaidens of the fossil-fuel industry, period—when they’re not handmaidens of the gun industry.” President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, who is a White House advisor, criticized the Green New Deal in an interview with Fox News earlier this week, claiming Americans do not like handouts, such as a guaranteed job or income. “I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last four years. People want to work for what they get,” Trump said. “So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job. They want the ability to live in a country where there’s the potential for upward mobility." Disclaimer about what Ivanka said or didn’t say..according to her she meant this which she tweeted. ”No I did not. I support a minimum wage. I do not however believe in a minimum guarantee for people “unwilling to work” which was the question asked of me.”

I am really trying to figure out why he does this. With any other person, he tries to play like he is an alpha male who is better than anyone. But with dictators his attitude totally changes. It’s as if he doesn’t want to ruffle their feathers or create confrontation. He doesn’t know how to be firm and assertive with someone without calling names. Or is he really that naive?
