I would hate to see her given prison time. Let's face it, she's not the sharpest tool in the shed and I fully believe that she had no idea because she didn't pay much attention to that stuff. Not saying that's right, but I'm sure he said "sign here" on some of that loan paperwork and she did, trusting him and not really caring about the details. And she's out selling her cookbooks and wine so let's not cut off her only means of paying these debts back. I get that he has to be punished but there are so many violent criminals out there, it seems a shame he has to be locked up. All very unhappy news for them and their girls This is kinda how I feel as well...what they did was wrong but it's true plenty of people get away with more violent crimes (Texas rich kid got off for drinking and driving resulting in death of others...that's something that comes to mind) however at the same time I do think they should be punished...I'm torn lol Maybe it's just me, but I think being on Real Housewives of OHMYGODSHE'SACROOK is punishment. Jail just seems redundant at this point.

Reading this post has made me think a lot about Martha Stewart and whether they were held to the same standards. In a nutshell - She went to jail for five months, had five months of house arrest and 2 years of probation. She was convicted of insider trading and obstruction of justice. She sold $200,000 worth of stock saving herself $45,000.
It seems that based on the numbers for the Guidices - the punishment fits the crime. Perhaps even a little harsh, perhaps not - if compared to Martha. I know different crimes. But still sort of similar - at least as far as being sneaky with money.
I do wonder if those who think Teresa should get off without doing time, also thought Martha should not have to do time. Is Teresa given some slack because of the four girls? I personally am on the fence about her. It seems like Joe is doing a ton of time and maybe his time would be enough for both them.
On the other hand - I'm a big fan of "do the crime, pay the time"...
On another note - her haters are quite gleeful about it all. Danielle Staub and Kim Granatell have had some pretty awful tweets.

Speaking of Martha, wouldn't Teresa go into the same kind of jail that Martha did, not sure what it is called? I mean she's not going into a general population type of jail.
And Gia is 13 now isn't she, possibly 14? Of course that will affect her, probably the most out of all the girls. That is a hard age, to have your mother in jail for a year is bound to have an affect on her.

"On another note - her haters are quite gleeful about it all. Danielle Staub and Kim Granatell have had some pretty awful tweets." I don't know about Kim, but Danielle..meh, I don't blame her. Teresa spent the entire first two seasons terrorizing Danielle because Danielle had a 'shady' past. Remember the infamous table flipping "prostitution whore" drama that made Teresa famous? That was directed towards Danielle. Being a RHWONJ watcher since the beginning, I don't buy that Teresa's ditzy act either. She's a shrewd business woman, and I agree with the sentencing. She didn't just "sign' the papers. In fact, I believe she probably encouraged Juicy Joe to commit a lot of this stuff because her greed for more, more, and more was insatiable. She had fake w2's made up, that she signed to show she worked at some high paying job (paralegal? realtor?) in order for them to quality for these crazy mortage loans on various properties, so they can finance their over the top lifestyle. Joe is a known slum lord who refused to fix the heating in the dead of winter in one of his apartment buildings. They are horrible people. I'm not "gleeful", but I'm glad, finally, justice has been served. Joe's dad died, after they made the plea bargain so him trying to blame anything on his dad's death is ridiculous. They pissed the judge off because even *after* the deal was made, they were evasive and STILL LYING about their assets. Joe's mother, Filomena actually had the gall to ask the judge to give her son "just a slap on the wrist, he doesn't deserve to go to prison". OMG, these people! Filomena's home is now also on the auction block. Last week's episode was just awful. They had filmed a family dinner at that same house, with Joe's dad in the footage (and their relationship featured). I swear, Bravo is just awful. I'm seeing this season through this end and then I'm out. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the Gorgas fall too. I don't buy their lavish lifestyle either. As it is, they are already moved out of that showy mansion from last season and 'temporarily renting" while a new and improved mansion is being custom built for them. Yeah, right. I'm pretty sure they are scared shitless now.

I hope she's binge-watching Orange Is The New Black. She's going to be a target, I fear. People seem pretty gleeful that she got time. and I totally think the opposite. I'm sure she'll be fussed over and fawned over in there like a pretty little doll. People will kiss her ass to be near to her celebrity. Why on earth would she be a target? AFAIK, the only kind of women who can be considered targets are child abusers/killers, and known racists. Meh, Teresa's time is gonna be easy, relatively speaking.

Admittedly, I don't know much about the inside of a woman's prison other than what I see on TV. Shows like Lockup that my friend made me watch. But I'm not led to believe that many of those women are going to kiss her ass because she is a Housewife. It's not like she's Beyonce, I'd hardly call her famous enough for special treatment. Just look how most people are thrilled she got caught and wishing her sentence started sooner...and these thrilled people aren't exactly representative of the prison population. I think it will make her a target because they'll see her as a princess-type bitch that they will test and push around. I hope I'm wrong and you're right, in this instance.

I'm thinking the same thing. But, they're going to Federal prison, right? If so, not that I have any personal experience with the prison system, but aren't Federal prisons less strict? I probably watch too much t.v., but I've heard of Federal prisons being referred to as Club Fed. Again, could be too much t.v. on my part.
Since neither one of them physically hurt/killed someone, I would think they'd be with non-violent criminals. I'm in Illinois so I'm thinking George Ryan, Rod Blagojevich, Jessie Jackson, Jr., etc.

Another thing I thought about with him probably being deported: he was born in Italy, was brought here by him mom and dad? Are the parents (I know the dad passed) Citizens? What about his brother, and was that a sister at last week's dinner show? Are they Citizens?
And, if he gets deported, I wonder if Italy would take her in seeing how she's a convicted felon now.

They got what they deserved.
Depending on what type of prison she ends up in, she could be in some trouble. A place like Martha's? She'll learn to crochet. A typical women's prison? I don't see anyone sucking up to her. She's only famous because she's been flaunting her rich lifestyle for years. She has no real talent.
Too bad the tables in prison are bolted to the floor. Someone needs to flip one at her.
