Did you not do Venn diagrams in maths at school ? what do you call them in the US?

As an elementary teacher in the us we use Venn Diagrams all the time. I learned them as a kid in school. I'm surprised the OP has not heard of them. We usually use them in Language Arts vs math although they can be used in a variety of subjects.

As a teacher I have used Venn Diagrams but probably told my students to fill out the diagram as opposed to fill out the Venn Diagram. I can see why people may not know them by name.

Is "eckspecially" a new word? I watch you tube cleaning videos and they all say "eckspecially"! It drives me crazy!

I was surprised, too

I've definitely SEEN many of them, I just didn't realize they were called that. My Dad is a
very well-educated lawyer and voracious reader who also LOVES words, and when I mentioned it to him last week, he
also had never heard them referred to as "Venn".

That lead to Dad and I reminising about when my siblings and I were growing up and asked either him or my
Mom what a word meant, we were told to look it up in the dictionary. Just one MORE reason I'm sooo thankful for
the internetss machine

A couple weeks ago, I saw yet ANOTHER new/ fun word in a post ("banoffee") , and as usual, googled.
(thanks, AussieMeg

). I decided to start a list of allll the new ones I learned here, and
planned to start a thread once I had several, so here goes.

1. banoffee---a banana/ toffee dessert popular in Australia (YUM!!)
(from AussieMeg on the "what's for dinner" thread)
I almost forgot, I also learned about pavlovas from Meg----YUM! I keep saying
I've gotta make one someday!

3. chevre-- (accent on the last e is missing because I do NOT know how to do that on my
laptop, no matter HOW HARD I've tried....

)---- Goat's cheese

5. Venn Diagram---I couldn't understand what this was with just a word definition, I had to use "google image"......I was sooo surprised that I'd never heard of this before!
