Thanks again everybody, all of your posts have been so helpful! I thought of one more question. According to the paperwork they gave me, I’ll have the four small incisions, three under the ribs and one by the belly button. Is wearing a bra going to give me fits while the top incision(s) heal? The girls are sad and droopy now and I don’t like going out in public without a bra on! Would a stretchy sleep bra be a halfway decent alternative? It just says to wear loose comfortable clothes to the appointment but nothing about that. When I had my c-section I had to go get all new underwear because all the ones I had hit right along that line of scar tissue and it drove me nuts even long after the surface skin healed. I didn’t wear a bra home from surgery. I wore the softest yoga paints with a loose high waist that I had, and the hospital gown home. I think I went bra-less for 4 or 5 days. I only put on a bra to go to my post op check with my surgeon a couple of days after surgery. I didn’t have to be anywhere else while I was healing those 1st two weeks, so I basically hung out in my jammies he whole time. I don’t wear bras in my jammies. 😁. After those 1st 2 weeks wearing a bra was fine. I probably did it before the end of the 2 weeks and just don’t remember it. It wasn’t bad when I finally did start wearing it again. And the incisions are really tiny on my chest. My belly button scar is bigger, but even that is relatively small.

Oh, if you are considering putting off this surgery, please don’t do that. My dad had been getting attacks for a couple of years. He had an attack while they were here visiting us in the middle of the night. He made my mom drive them to the ER without telling us (😡) because he thought he was having a heart attack.
Hey told him it was probably his gallbladder but that it wasn’t an emergent situation. That he could wait till he got back to his own state before having it looked at. My dad heard, “it’s not an emergency so it can wait” and ignored it for another year. Had minor attacks on and off this entire time. Finally had one big attack and my mom rushed him to the ER. Surgery scheduled immediately.
The dr got in here and his gallbladder was gangrenous!!! He could have died. Actually died from a stupid ducking gallstone because he was too stubborn to get it taken care of. His recovery was so much longer and harder than it should have been because of that. ☹️ He is ok now, but it took several months for him to heal all the way.
Do not put this off.

Oh, I’m not putting it off or even remotely thinking of it after seeing how bad it was for my DH. His wasn’t properly diagnosed for over a YEAR while the attacks got progressively worse. By the time it was correctly identified, it was the size of a pear, about to burst and was an emergency situation. He ended up in the hospital for a week, and ain’t nobody got time for that! So no, as soon as I figured out what was going on, I was on the phone with the clinic to get in to be seen and I *HATE* going to the doctor. The only reason I didn’t get it scheduled sooner was because we had a 13 day Disney Cruise / Disneyworld trip planned for over a year that I wasn’t about to miss, and my surgeon agreed it could wait a couple weeks until we were back.

My little incisions were no where near my bra-line....they were lower, one on right, one on left and then the bellybutton. I’m going to have four, and from the diagram on the sheet it looks like the top center one in particular might be an issue which was why I asked about it. There will be one top center, two more down from that on the diagonal on the right side, and the belly button one. When you have a fluffy middle and droopy old lady boobs like I do, they say hi to each other quite often, LOL. My gallbladder pain was right up under my sternum and my bra line hits right there. Ah! You are correct - I do have a center one too! I forgot about it! It is about 2" below my bra line.

My top incision bandage is just underneath the bottom of the band so when I’m sitting it does hit the top of it. I put one of those really big bandaids over the steri-strip that’s over the glue holding my skin shut. The other top incision on the right is way up there too. At first I didn’t think it was going to be that high but today when I was looking at it I saw it’s almost the same height as the center one.

Pretty well, thanks for asking! My DH talked to the surgeon while I was in recovery and she said I had two big stones, the gallbladder was inflamed and that I must have been fighting it for quite some time. That was surprising to me because I didn’t think I felt bad other than the two attacks I had recently. The prescription painkillers make me really tired, but I know from previous experience not to cut back too much, too fast. Between that, ibuprofen and ice packs the pain is being pretty well controlled. I should be totally switched over to only ibuprofen by Saturday or so. As some had said, the worst part was the sore throat and dry mouth from the breathing tube which was awful. Hot beverages and soups have been my best friend with that, cold stuff doesn’t seem to help at all. I’m not sure who suggested the Gas Ex but that was a good one! I haven’t had any shoulder or neck pain from the gas at all which is awesome. No lifting anything over 20 lbs or anything strenuous for two weeks which gets me out of vacuuming and schlepping baskets of laundry up and down the stairs for the near future and I’m totally okay with that.
