When 'lumpy stuff' got popular, it seems like anything was fair use so I have things like rocks, those glass flat marble things, and all kinds of heavy metal embellishments like that product line called Architecture. They looked so nice but really dented the pages. The product I most regret using is shape templates on my photos. I can stand almost anything but my mutilated photos. I second the lumpy page regret. I stuffed too many pages in an album and because of the embellishments, I’ve ruined some pages because of being pushed together

Washi. Luckily, I didn't get too far with it before I noticed it sucked lol

Washi. Luckily, I didn't get too far with it before I noticed it sucked lol I use my washi for exactly two things: protecting the metal edges of my shim, and holding down dies. It baffles me that people use it for more permanent things when its whole nature is to be super light-tack.

I also hate October Afternoon flair- it has rusted... , I have some from the library collection. Could it be climate? I have little humidity where I live.
The only thing I have hated was cutting photos into shapes. I guess that product would be decorative scissors. When there were new trends, there was a few times I got carried away; ribbon, sticker, and flower sneeze.

What gets me is that they are still selling epoxy stuff. I'll never buy any epoxy things again. My coke embellishments from EK Success are really sad looking. The "soda" in the bottle is now discolored.

Why did I cut photos? Why?

I think flair is a climate thing. I have a machine that I can use to make flair and all of my supplies are doing well and I haven't noticed any (no matter where I've gotten it) problems with the unused flair that I still have. I just don't use it anymore because it's too bulky...at least I sold enough of them to pay for my machine so it's not like I have this overpriced paperweight that I carry any regrets over.
I also stopped buying epoxy anything because it yellows quickly and it just looks terrible. I've noticed that plenty of things that have glossy accents have done the same. I worry about my enamel dots because they are a similar material to epoxy. My Heidi Swapp clear glitter ones have yellowed but the black and silver on the same sheet haven't had that problem. I have several sheets of glitter ones from eBay/China that I really like...I would be devastated if they yellowed on me. I'm not a gems or pearls fan, so if my enamel dots go bad, it will be a very sad revelation.

I hate all the damn bottle caps I used. I went through a phase where I used them and my pages are all dented because they are so bulky.

I forgot about the bottle cap trend. That was really popular for awhile. Somehow I missed using them, and I was (and still am) a trendy scrapper. I also missed the "cutting photos into shapes" phase. I think I started scrapping just as that trend ended. I never used magic mesh (also known as drywall tape- ha!) either. I did use some wire mesh and chicken wire and those Architecture elements. I still think that looks cool, although I'm pretty sure the wire will eventually rust. I did use mulberry paper and I think it still looks okay, even if I can tell what years I did those pages. I used a lot of vellum, too, but I think that looks good and they still sell it as part of some new lines.
I own a million flowers from the time that was the rage. I do like a nice flower here and there, but the whole "use tons of flowers on every page" looks really dated. And I scrapbook boys, I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them. I did manage to sneak a flower on some of my boy pages.
I think the only thing I really, really regret is the epoxy. I just looked at Scrapbook.com and some of the new lines have it. No! Have we not learned anything?

Rubber elements. I have goopy messes from using the wrong type of adhesive, which reacted with the rubber over time. Me, too. What IS the right adhesive? Anyone know? I wouldn’t use rubber at all! Rubber will naturally get gooey or the opposite, it’ll get brittle and just break apart. I often have to go through old files/drawers at work, and it’s super common to see this in rubber bands.

Cork...I really don't like the way it looks. No idea why I forced myself to use it. And the gold Heidi shine that left the little oil rings (which I realize may be user error). I'm not a fan of rounded corners in my PL pages. I did that to everything the first couple of years I did PL and then one day just stopped. I never used a core kit, so I don't know why I thought I had to do that.
I have the bad flair too. I need to just toss that rest that's still in my stash or use it on cards. I can't remember the last time I put any on a scrapbook layout.

"thunk, thunk, thunk!"

My first thought was epoxy stickers... they were so cute going on and so ugly now that they are yellowed.
I also regret that I didn't know much about adhesives so used the square white tape in the blue runner (name? Hmmm....). A handful of my beginning layouts are falling apart and parts are laying at the bottom of the page protector. They were flat layouts too... pre-lumpy! Oh well, I'm not planning to go back and fix it. I'll just grab my ATG and march forward (and hope that 20 years from now I'm not complaining about the ATG tape letting go!)

Oh yes adhesive a lot has come off using tape runners. I’ve had my atg 10 yrs and those seem fine. I’m a little worried I’ll have a mess of enamel dots down the road 😬 time to channel my inner kiwigirl 💕 and break out those Nuvos!

Using Utee to make embellishments, they went the way of the epoxy stickers. They were so pretty but are now a yellow mess.
Using Zig glue on my early pages. I had to go back and reglue everything after 2 years. Thats when I switched to Herma dot rollers, in 20 years nothing has fallen off.

Vellum tape! I loved that stuff, but it eventually yellowed beneath the vellum. I resorted to securing vellum with anything but that stuff.

Epoxy stickers with white. I have noticed that all the stickers with white areas in it have turned yellow. The ones without white are still good. I actually love epoxy stickers but from now on I will buy packs with less or no white only.

I’ll see your peeling ribbons, rusted flair and warped epoxy....and raise you un-sticky thickers I learned my lesson on Thickers I never use them now without adding more glue to the backs . Same for me on adding more adhesive to my Thickers

Washi. Luckily, I didn't get too far with it before I noticed it sucked lol I never got into it either but I have several rolls of them. I use it to tape dies to my paper when I cut out my die cuts. It has perfect tackiness. No damage to the paper. No need to buy that expensive purple tape that is used in those popular card making YouTube videos.

Why did I cut photos? Why? I can’t stand to look at my older pages where I’ve cut my photos into shapes. You live, you learn I guess. All part of the scrappy evolution.

I had a whole “Family” album kit that I got at a CK convention that had their rub-ons on EVERY page. Yup, you guessed it, they all dried up and came off the pages into a little pile of black dust in the bottom of every page protector. So sad! I also tossed a boatload of the epoxy stuff that was new in the packages and very yellowed. Ugh. Same with some of the early Doodlebug chipboard stickers, those all turned horribly yellow too. I was so glad I never actually used them on anything because they were “too cute to use” LOL. They looked awful when I tossed them a couple years ago. Such a waste. Guess that whole “CK-OK” thing certifying that everything was acid free and photo safe was a total crock of crap.

I don't really regret anything, but I choose not to use:
epoxy stickers- because of the yellowing
Washi by itself - I always add adhesive to it. I rarely use it anymore because all my rolls have stuck to themselves and I won't buy any more.
Metal embellishments - too heavy and leave dents. I mostly had used brads and eyelets, so not too big.
I thankfully only cut duplicate photos into ovals. I never really liked the trend.
I never used rubber. Figured it would fall apart eventually.

For me, it's epoxy. It looks horrible now. I have gotten some epoxy elements in kits and I'm sure hoping it fares better than the others.

Some of the foam Thickers have good adhesive, but all of the chipboard get some extra glue before I put them on a page.

Rubber elements. I have goopy messes from using the wrong type of adhesive, which reacted with the rubber over time. Ugh, this has happened on some of my pages too. Now I use either red-line double-sided tape or staples to adhere rubber. I love rubber embellishments, so I experimented to find out what would work.
