I'm done! The guest room is spotless, the photos have all been sorted/scanned/scrapbooked, and the garage is immaculate! My home would turn Marie Kondo green with envy! April Fool's! Don't we all wish we were done with our decluttering and organizing. I didn't accomplish as much in March as I wanted to but April is for getting back on track. Since I'm traveling mid-month, my goals will be simple. * Finish up with sorting the photo boxes covering the dining room table. * Complete 2 UFO quilt tops and send out to be quilted. * Continue to purge the Spring wardrobe as the weather warms up and I see what doesn't work for me. Does anyone else have plans to do some Spring cleaning this month? Jump in and share your goals and accomplishments!

I NEED to organise, declutter, weed, etc...the yard/carport/sheds this month. Whether I have time and motivation is a whole 'nother question.
I did manage to go through a tote of outdoor toys with DD12 - half went in the bin as they were broken, a 1/4 has been put aside to be washed and donated, and she's keeping a 1/4 for now.

I've finally got DH working on doing a closet purge. I can't tell you how long I've been asking him. I don't have high hopes for great progress, but at least he is finally doing something. My plan is to reorganize his closet once he finally decides what he can let go of. His stuff is spilling out into the bedroom and it's driving me crazy.
Once the weather warms up more and the snow melts the garage needs a good cleaning.

Well all my drawers are folded and I open them just to look.
BUT my husband just shoved his pjs into a drawer. I am not happy and it is really bothering me!

Well you fooled me on that, haha! We are also traveling in April, so I'm going to keep it simple. I did finish up all of my March goals except for taxes, so that is number one on the list for this month.
1) File taxes and then file all tax paperwork. 2) Clean off kitchen table and keep clean for the month. 3) Go through winter gear, downsize by one box, and return all boxes to the barn. 4) When we return from our trip, start spending 30 minutes a day cleaning out my office, which has become the catch-all for everything. 5) Photos. I don't even know where to start with these, but I need to.
I'm going to have to stop myself there. Off to spend some time on taxes!

So the house will have to wait--except for bringing in my summer clothes from the shed, and putting my winter clothes out!! You had me going with your opening statement though, until I got to the April Fools day part!!

OMG you guys it's done....well basically done....I finally got DH walk in closet cleaned and organized!!! It's been 7 years in the making. Not going to lie, DH hasn't been the easiest person to work with. We had our ups and downs this week. In the end it looks so nice and DH is impressed. He even admitted he didn't realize just how much stuff he had in here. I can't put into words just how much of a burden this has lifted off of my I hate clutter self.

I'm in the middle of moving. After it's all in the new place, I will need to sort through the stuff in the storage area in the basement. (Didn't have time prior to moving)
And then I'll need to take donations in, have a garage sale (or several) and list stuff for sale on FB and eBay.

Do you all have any recommendations for Youtube videos on home organization? I'm 48 years old, you think I could figure things out myself, but looking at the state of my home, apparently I can't.

Well, I caught the bug and have been tossing, bagging for charity and organizing. Don't know how long this will last, but have got a bunch done. Sadly, you can't tell much difference - LOL Our recycle bin is full so tossing more paper will have to wait till after Thrusday pick up day.
Meanwhile goals include: going through medical receipts and sorting my year - yep years, there are at least three years in that stack Sorting out my linen closet and donating at least half a shelf or maybe a whole one Purging my closet of at least a fourth of the clothes in there Making the guest room usable (next month I'll work on organizing the closet in there)

Hi I have made 4 trips to the second hand store and still am not finished the bedroom. This is exhausting me thinking about it. There is more to go but that’s for another day now. Maybe I will go in there today. All the shoes I don’t wear are gone almost. All the purses I don’t use and more. I found a huge bag of recycling and garbage. Wish me luck!!!

Well I have two goals in mind and started one thing. I am taking my wedding dress apart and saving the lace off of it in case one of my daughters would like to use it in their dresses somehow. The dress is something they would not wear.. Think of Princess Diana's type dress.. big and lacy and poofy and plus a nice big bow on the butt!! I never had it cleaned either.. So got that monstrosity of a dress out of the closet and while I am binge watching shows, I am taking it apart and saving just pieces of it. The rest is trash..
Next after that, I talked DH into letting me clear out his side of the closet. He's never home and I could use the space.. So whatever clothes he has in there is getting folded. He will get a little spot for a few things. He is a truck driver so he really doesn't even use the closet. So I am going to totally empty it out and start from scratch. I need to watch a few closet organizing videos..

I took out another 2 big bags of garbage and an enormous bag of recycling. Not bad for 30 minutes. The garage sale is timely. I keep finding more stuff to get rid of!!!

OK, I'm posting my goal hoping it will help me be more accountable:
My (high school) Girl Scout troop is coming over this evening to go through the bazillions of tubs I've accumulated over the years of being a troop leader. I'm going to be ruthless and get rid of stuff like crazy. My problem is always the follow-up. We'll get everything put in piles and then I just need to make sure all the stuff in the 'donate' pile actually gets to the donation place and out of my garage!

I have made a lot of progress so far this month!
- Sold $300 of wedding decor in 2 days. Had been sitting in my garage taking up half of it for months and months. FB Marketplace was the way to go.
- Wedding stuff I did not sell, I thought to ask a former coworker who is getting married on a very tight budget. She cried with happiness when I gave her 2 big boxes of stuff.
- Had a garage sale -- totally useless, only sold 2 things. But I packed everything up and brought it straight to Goodwill, including 3 items of furniture. Know now that garage sales are not the way to go around here (they were huge where we used to live), so I won't bother any more. Good info to have.
- Cleaned out my garage -- got rid of 7 tubs of items one way or another. So now my dh can park his car in the garage (still too tight because the garage is just a wee bit too small for 2 cars unless both cars are Mini Coopers or Smart Cars), but he can park the car there.
- Doing a deep dive into my hobby and scrapbooking room. Purging singular items I do not want and reorganizing the rest. I feel quite inspired to get back to my hobbies now. - Pulled out my kids' stuff and am insisting they take it away with them. They all tell me how they are not sentimental and don't want my stuff after I am dead, so why the hell am I holding on to their random belongings while I am alive and tripping over it? Be gone with it.
- Reorganized front closet. Discovered we had tons of tote bags. Now that the garage is cleaned up, I put up hooks in there to hold on to the ones I want to keep and have been giving away the rest. Discovered that we have enough wrapping paper to last for at least 3 years, so no more purchases there!*
- Brought many bags of fabric, ribbon and papercrafting supplies to the local elementary school.
- Found in the garage a thrift store find of a gorgeous small table I had forgotten about. I could see the lines of it were gorgeous, I mean. My dh thought it was a waste of money when I bought it for $5. So I decided I was either going to refinish it NOW or get rid of it. I refinished it (quite a chore actually) and it turned out amazing. My dh was astonished at how trash became treasure and it now sits in my guest room looking freaking awesome.
* I think one of the big advantages or gains of this project is discovering my tendencies to buy too much of certain items. Pulling everything out, examining it, folding/organizing it... it has made me very aware of my tendencies. The awareness has given me self control to stop buying wrapping paper or tote bags or graphic tees or scrapbooking supplies no matter how cute they are. So that is a huge future win.

We got rid of two big drawers of stuff of my mother’s today. Just deep drawers full of stuff. I did find $40 to use for parking. One big bag of garbage and one of recycle.

mallie - You have really been on a roll! Good for you! I'm sure it feels great to have all that stuff gone. I'm slowly getting back on the declutter/purge bandwagon. This week I went through my gift drawer and got rid of half of it by adding it to the donation bag. That freed up room for some of the scrapbook equipment I've kept (which is very little). Also went through my closet again, putting away the last bit of winter clothing. A few things were added to the donation bag. I also went through my summer sandals and got rid of 2 pair. One went into the trash, the other was donated as they were just too big and my foot kept slipping off the base. Better to donate than twist an ankle (or worse!). Yesterday the weather was good so I sat out on the terrace and went through 2 file boxes of old papers. I went from 2 overstuffed boxes to 1 box that is about 1/4 full! Half of it was old income tax returns from 1977 forward. The rest were the annual folders I keep for Medical/Dental receipts, forms, etc. It's now down to 1 folder for each of us. I will scan most of that then add to the shred pile as well. I now have 4 grocery sacks of papers to shred this week. I'm thinking I'll run it over to the place that does free shredding while you watch. Need to see when they are open this week. This week I have one more box of papers in the garage to go through (mostly school papers for DD who is now 31 ). Then I plan to take another run at the guest room. Still so much to wade through in there.

another stack of clothes - we went through a tote of clothes that were DD18's and DD12 picked some to keep and some to donate (and some to leave in the tote until the next growth spurt).
A school desk
a child's rocker
I need to go through the Lent/Easter boxes and see what wasn't used this year and let it go

I did a lot of cleaning--getting rid of... before my mother in law came down to stay for a few days. then we went on a two week cruise. I came home and everything looked great!!! including the fact that I told dh to hang all our art.. and he put up 20 items on the wall.. stuff that had been sitting on the floor for years. I have more art work to get framed and on the walls.. but good progress. one of his best friends is an fine print artist.. so we have lots of art work more to go!! next week.. this week I am just trying to get suitcases unloaded and put away.

The bedrooms are ready to show. Just the basement needs more work. I did another cupboard at 2 am last night. One more to go. This is exhausting. I think the outcome will be great but it’s getting there.
