I have not found dirt to-date. I can’t believe how low my expectations have become in these Trumpian times. Does Mayor Pete speak in complete, lucid sentences? Yes. Is he part of a corrupt grifter dynasty? No. Good enough. If he wins the nomination I’m voting for him. We hear nothing but Buttigieg on the news (our "local" news station is in South Bend) but I don't pay much attention to the politics. But on the news stations' facebook pages people mention this a lot. www.buzzfeednews.com/article/henrygomez/mayor-pete-buttigieg-south-bend-gentrificationOther people say he's not doing enough to curb violence. South Bend is one of the worst cities in northern Indiana for crime. I'm sure someone will dig up more. Our news is also out of South Bend. The news casters always seem to have big smiles when they talk about him. They just mentioned him a few minutes ago and they had the giant smiles. 😄. Whenever they mention Pence they don’t/didn’t smile. When they mention Trump they don’t smile.

I don't know which station you watch but the ABC station seems to lean left quite a bit so no, they wouldn't like Pence or Trump. Seems like the CBS station is the same (we watch that station when ABC is preempted by sports or just having technical issues) but we haven't watched the news on the NBC station for a long time.

I'm more worried about the trumps who will grab young women by their pu...y or kiss them just because... Or the Roy Moores who think 14 yr old girls are ok to date, abuse.

There was a piece about issues with the firing of the Police Chief. I think race was involved BUT I don't know who was black, the chief or officers or who.... I just cannot remember the details. I figured I'd mention it in case someone finds it later... found it. It all started before he was Mayor. I like Mayor Pete He is a breath of fresh air! Pete Buttigieg’s meteoric rise as a presidential candidate is putting a spotlight on his years as mayor of South Bend, Ind., including his demotion of an African-American police chief.
An Indiana judge will rule soon on whether to release five cassette tapes of secretly recorded conversations between South Bend police officers that led to the 2012 demotion of Police Chief Darryl Boykins, the city’s first ever black police chief.
The South Bend City Council subpoenaed Buttigieg to win release of the tapes, which were at the center of a police department shake-up and a series of lawsuits. Buttigieg’s critics say he’s gone to great lengths to conceal the contents of the tapes, which some believe could include racist language by white police officers. There is roiling anger in South Bend over the allegations of racism. Black leaders in the city say that if there is evidence of racism, it could call into question scores of convictions that stemmed from white police officers investigating black suspects in a city that is 25 percent black. ** “There’s a level of frustration,” said Karen White, a city councilwoman and Democrat who is black. “We want this issue to be brought to closure to ensure this issue does not polarize our community further. We have a right to know [what’s on the tapes], as do our citizens.” Buttigieg’s defenders say he’s not trying to conceal the tapes, but rather is seeking to ensure that releasing the recordings does not run afoul of federal or state wiretapping laws. No one in the mayor’s office has listened to the recordings, sources say. The mayor’s allies say he was put in a tough spot, eager to discover whether the allegations of racism are true but not wanting to expose the city to further legal action if a judge ruled the tapes violated federal and state recording laws. “The mayor’s stance from day one has been that he won’t do anything unless it’s cleared by a court of law,” said a Buttigieg ally. “These are serious matters. Serious allegations. His oath and his job every day is to follow the law, so that’s what he’s doing. Whatever the court decides, whether the tapes are to be released or destroyed, he’ll do that.” **More at link: thehill.com/homenews/campaign/438669-secret-tapes-linger-over-buttigiegs-meteoric-rise

We watch it because it’s famikiar and because we like Lester Holt at night and The Today’s show in the morning.

TBH, I didn't think much of Pete when he first appeared on my radar. But the more I learn about him, the more I like him. Nothing impresses me more than grace under pressure, and with the clips I've seen lately, he sure has it.

TFS. Fortunately most Christians I know agree with Buttigieg in what Jesus is saying and how to interpret the Bible. I for one, still can’t wrap my head around how anyone claiming to be Christian can support Trump. He is the antithesis of what the Bible says a Christian is no matter what interpretation you subscribe to. That’s what I find SO baffling. ( among other things - like how the supposed right states rights people can support his growing plutocracy, which doesn’t support states rights at all )

I call on Franklin Graham to repent being a greedy Paulian - he's not a Christian. Christ had no truck w/the hypocritical Pharisees.

What he is doing to immigrants, separating families, cutting funding for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, school lunches, the environment, grabbing/kissing, and the list goes on!

"Still, Buttigieg has a knack for winning positive headlines. On Wednesday he went viral on Twitter for responding to a supporter in sign language." Another language!

I see Jacob Wohl’s at it again. I thought he’s under investigation by the FBI for his hoax against Mueller.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this, but I am. Jacob Wohl is a moron who is going to scheme himself into jail (I hope).

What a disgusting thing to do. While I am not surprised, I am glad Hunter Kelly (the guy they tried using) has come out and addressed the issue on his FB page. LINK

Hunter made a recording..... The man who told The Daily Beast that Wohl and Burkman approached him last week also described himself as a Trump supporter. He said he was connected to them by a friend in Republican politics, whom the duo had allegedly also pitched on the scheme. They met at a restaurant in the Washington area, where, the source said, both Burkman and Wohl introduced themselves using false names. Burkman assumed the alias of Matt Teller, the source said. Wohl, he said, just used the first name Bill. The source added that he recognized Wohl because of his internet notoriety and decided to record their conversation, convinced that it could prove useful should any investigation be launched into the origins of the anti-Buttigieg scheme. The audio was provided on the condition that it not be published, so as not to reveal its source. An expert in audio forensics contacted by The Daily Beast then examined the recording and confirmed that Wohl was one of the speakers. "Our findings are that it is highly likely that one of the voice on the recording is Jacob Wohl's voice," Hafiz Malik, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, told The Daily Beast after analyzing the recording. Malik and his graduate student compared the surreptitious recording to publicly-available recordings of Wohl speaking. The pair then matched similar words and syllables, comparing the voice prints in each case. The stealthy recording was noisy—with hums in the lower register, around 60 and 120 hertz. So Malik and his student compared the "high harmonics," and got a match. ** www.thedailybeast.com/far-right-smear-merchants-jacob-wohl-and-jack-burkman-try-to-slime-pete-buttigieg-with-bogus-sex-assault-claimmom yes really disgusting... It amazes me to what lengths people will go too to damage another.

These people never cease to amaze and appall me. It seems that absolutely nothing is too low for the GOP dirt merchants. They are contemptible.
I am sick to death of being told all politicians are alike. Not true at all.

At this point the official uniform of the GOP should be the required MAGA hat, and red, white, and blue replicas of the "I really don't care, Do you?" jacket. No rule of law. No precedence. No common decency. Zero Fucks. Scooting their asses across the Constitution like a rescue full of puppies with worms.

Time’s cover story on Pete that I came across this morning. A refreshing read after seeing the chaos and corruption of the last 48 hours play out.

I really do like a lot about him, and I love his calm, intelligent answers to questions. (But almost all the Democratic candidates sound calm and intelligent compared to Trump.)
I wonder if the best thing for him and the future would be to be the VP first and then be positioned to run again for President in four or eight years.

I think given the chaos of electing a non-politician president in 2016, some people would take pause with electing someone so young and without a record of higher level government experience. I think that is the draw to someone like Biden... no wild card there you know exactly who he is and what you will get. I would actually prefer to see him as VP to bring some youth and progressive ideas while gaining the trust of a larger percentage of the country.

To put him in a position where he gets more experience on the national stage. I really like him but being mayor of a small city is not necessarily preparation for governing as president. He’s very accomplished in many ways, but is young and has lost when he ran for statewide office, I believe. I have no issue with a gay man as VP or President (or any other role), but I’m hopeful that more exposure to him might open the minds of people who are resistant now. If they could see him "on the job" and get to know him better, maybe it won’t be a factor.

I like him, a lot. But as the article points out, Im not sure he can swing the black/minority vote...yet. I think if he pairs up with someone who can help him with that and gets into the VP office, and the minorities get to know him and see what he can do, then I think he will be successful running for President.
