My DS and his family were eating dinner near a couple of Dallas Police Officer’s tonight. My DS encouraged his boy to go over & high five them.. they invited my grandson & DS to ride around the block & showed my grandson how all the bells & whistles worked...
My grandson went to bed tonight telling his daddy that he wants to be a police officer.
Good job, Dallas Police! You made a good impression on my grandson!

So VERY fun. I am glad he got that opportunity! There are several small girls that live in my daughter's neighborhood. They have come over to her house twice. Both times she open up her police unit and does the same things. They LOVE it! I was blessed to be there once, and the little girls were just enthralled by it all. My daughter LOVES to share her profession with the little ones and is very involved with the elementary schools, etc. She was on TV recently reading to kids at the news station for a piece they did.
BTW, one of my daughter's FAVORITE professors at the university was a retired Dallas PD SWAT Officer. He is one AWESOME man!

That is so cool. Sometimes it's the simple things. Imagine if he becomes a police officer and this simple act of kindness was the cornerstone of making that happen?!

The Dallas Police have been working on their community involvement for several years. I do believe that it is making a difference in relations between the public and law enforcement. It is a wonderful thing! Your grandson must be beaming from ear to ear!

One of our neighbors was a k9 cop. I loved his dog. I really liked having the cop car sit outside his house every night also.

My DD had a similar experience when she was about 5-6. While they didn’t take her for a ride, they did let her see the inside of the squad car and offered to let her turn on the lights and siren (she declined, she doesn’t like loud sounds). But it was still pretty cool. She also has gotten to see the inside of a fire truck at a community event. I think kids need more positive opportunities like this!

Tell him he is now part of the Blue Line Family! Welcome to the family:) He stayed with me for the weekend and talked about it all the time. He wore that wrist band every moment. My son called them Dallas Superhero’s and that’s what my grandson calls them now. We encourage respect for our first responders in this family... just so fun for the little ones to get first hand contact. They were great!

How sweet @knot. Love reading the update. And thank you for encouraging respect for first responders. You are so welcome. I pray for your daughters safety. I am teaching my grandkids to be respectful. First responders, teachers, doctors, nurses, pastors.... the elderly especially those who served in the military. I want them to know they go above & beyond for them.
