Just got the call and am waiting for DH to get home from work so we can head up to the hospital. I'm so excited, I'm for real dancing around the house singing, "I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!", lol. Cats think I'm nuts. ETA: After some comments expressing concern that DD's drug addiction isn't being addressed, I feel compelled to respond to that concern here. The main things focused on during the 16 days DD was in the hospital were that 1) She did not die and 2) She recover physically and mentally as much as possible. She survived and she surpassed all expectations regarding physical and mental recovery. And, yes, it made me happier than I have ever been and yes, I did dance and sing. Much to my cats' dismay. However, please do not mistake the absence of addressing her drug addiction in my posts as it being ignored. It is most definitely NOT being ignored or forgotten. Her sponsor (a truly amazing woman) has been a daily presence since this happened. She was the first one at the hospital. We've had intensive discussions literally every day about the steps that will be taken to get DD back on the road to recovery and those plans have been activated now that she is out of the hospital. And that's all I have to say about that.

Now the hard part starts. Hopefully, she will have plenty of counseling, rehab, support. It was a very serious overdose...fentanyl laced heroin...and it is going to be hard for everyone. I wish you the best of luck.

I'm so excited, I'm for real dancing around the house singing, "I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!", lol. Cats think I'm nuts. Is she going to rehab?? No, she was released to go straight home with home visit therapy for the next 5 weeks. Her only real issues are short term memory loss and needing to build up her stamina. Physically, she's regained use of everything so she does not need any 'relearning' PT. If you knew her before this happened and ran into her today - not knowing about the OD and everything else - you'd probably have no idea anything had happened at all. At the risk of over-using the word, her recovery has truly been a miracle. There must have been 30 nurses that gathered to send her off today, including several who did not expect her to even survive in those early days. She sure showed them, lol.
