There is a story from Sweden in which Turkish born taxi driver did just that. He gave his card, pin number and contact details to a business man going to Germany on a trip but who discovered he had forgotten his credit card. The business man ended up spending about 450 US dollars which he repaid on his return. www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-48022980

Not as a general course of action but I can imagine certain circumstances where I would (not on my primary card, only the low limit card I keep for online and transactions I don’t have full confidence in the vendor.

No I wouldn't. And if this just happened you'd think a "business man" would be more tech savvy. If I left my wallet at home, I could also pay with my watch or with my phone, or use the bank app on my phone to get a cash withdrawal from the bank even without a card...and if I didn't already have that set up, I'd be able to do it in about 30 mins. Or if I really believed someone and wanted to help them...I'd withdraw money and give them cash. So on both sides there's various things I could/would do but handing over my card wouldn't be one of them.

No way! If I felt led to help I would try to withdraw cash and give the stranger.

Not that that means I'd give a stranger my card or card details - If anything, I might lend them some cash.

Most likely not. But since you can turn them in & off from your phone now it’s not as big of a risk as it used to be.

I would never give my credit card to someone I didn't know.
I don't like using a credit card or debit at a restaurant or bar, because I don't like the waiter taking my card away, out of my sight. Although many restaurants now have payment kiosks(not sure what they are called??) on each table. I am a cash user for meals out.
I've given a couple/few dollars to people who were short at the register at the grocery store, and were doing the "take that off, put that back, to get within the parameters of funds on hand. I've paid for a fast food meal for someone, who ordered then realized they didn't have their wallet. I given a couple dollars to an elderly lady who was short on her prescription co-pay at the pharmacy.
I don't mind helping someone who is a couple bucks short, no way am I giving unlimited access to all my available credit on my credit card.

Wow, that is just crazy! No way! This man was extremely lucky that the man he gave it to was honest!

A stranger? Ha! I wouldn't give it to my brother much less a stranger. Well in my case, I'd have trusted a total stranger more than my sister. She would have maxed it out buying junk and never repaid me a dime. But no, not giving it to anyone!
