My 76 yo Mom has a 2008 Dodge Charger bought new with a Hemi engine and only 30,000 miles on it. It is way too much car for her now especially since my Dad is gone and her judgement isn't the best. This care has many blind spots. I know she will get top dollar for it. My sisters and I have finally convinced her to downsize. Her car prior to this was a PT Cruiser which she absolutely loved. They don't make those anymore. My sister saw a KIA Soul and they went to take a look today. She likes it a lot, easy to get in and out, trunk space and good mileage.
How do you like yours? She needs to be able to slide in to the drivers seat because of knee and back issues. And no manual transmission because of shoulder issues!
Update: Mom bought her KIA Soul today. Had to be alien green! She is excited and we are happy she has something a bit more manageable. Thanks for your input!

I'll be buy another one when I am ready to replace it. The back seat is super easy to fold down and put back up if I want to transport something bigger than the trunk will normally hold. It is a 60/40 split so I can put down part of the seat or all of it. My tall son finds the leg room and head room to be comfortable for him. Gas mileage is great. I've had absolutely no issues with mine. What else do you want to know? I'm headed to bed so might not be back until tomorrow evening.

Might just have to go test drive one for me!
Not that I need it. I have a 2007 Ford Focus with 37,000 original miles.

I have a 2013 that I bought new. Absolutely no problems with it! Great gas mileage. Plenty of room. Can zip around and park that tiny thing anywhere. Lots of cargo room, and trust me I haul a lot of stuff. It has way more room inside than my 2016 Jeep Renegade. I wanted four wheel drive or I would’ve bought another Soul when I passed mine down to my daughter.

Both the PT Cruiser and the Dodge Charger have many bad blind spots. However, the Dodge Charger is heavy metal surrounding your mom in traffic. I have seen a few KIA Soul's in accidents and they crumple like tin-foil. I would get something with more metal (heavy metal) to surround your mom. I don't like tin-foil cars.

My brother had one that he bought new that his girlfriend drove into the ground. She crashed it twice I think in minor fender benders but it didn’t hold up all that well after that. He ended up not fixing it after the second one because the cost of repairs was more than the value of the car would be after fixing it. He wasn’t a fan.
I’d look for a car that has sensors that show when there’s a car in the blind spot. My Escape has a little light on each side mirror that lights up when someone is in the blind spot, and it really does help me to be able to tell when someone is back alongside me on either flank where I can’t see well.

My 17 y.o. twins drive a Soul and they love it. I ended up with one as a rental (not my choice and I was not happy!) but once I drove it thought it might be a good choice for the kids. The safety ratings were great and the price was right. We've had it for almost 2 years and no issues so far.

My best friend just bought one that had been “totaled” and rebuilt. I use the term totaled loosely because it had minor fender and bumper damage. What caused it to bone totaled was it popped the air bags. Still completely drivable when it was wrecked. My husband test drove it and almost bought it before it was fixed.

A friend just got one and loves it. My nephew runs a car dealership (an affiliated dealership sells Kia, not his dealership) and says a ton of his employees have them, that he "can’t keep them out of them."

I have a 2013 we bought new. Love that car, and when we replace it, it will be with another Soul. They turn on a dime, and are zippy little cars.

I love my KIA Soul! I had a Honda CRV, but I didn't like how they looked after they re-designed them... the Soul is the closest thing to it that I liked. It's easy to get in and out of; after driving my car and switching to my DH's Volvo, I practically had to *fall* into the driver's seat, it seemed so much lower to the ground. The KIA is the first non-Honda car I've ever bought on my own, actually... and it had to be pretty good to get me to switch from Honda.
ETA: don't know if this will be a factor for her or not, but- Mine did not come with a spare tire. (a donut spare might be an accessory? not sure) It came with a flat-fixing kit that has a small air pump you hook up to the car, and a cartridge of 'goop' that gets pumped into the tire to plug the hole. I've used it at least once; it was pretty easy to do, and it got me to the Discount Tire just fine. After one use, you have to buy a new cartridge of 'goop' to replace it. (I also could have called my insurance company, but I didn't want to wait around for them.)

Two of my daughters and my neighbor all drive a Kia Soul. They have never had any problems and like the cars.
