I have this terrible tendency to want to use scraps to scrap with instead of cutting up a fresh, new piece of paper (or two). I have already enjoyed the experience of using the paper that made the scraps but it is ok to use something new, pretty and fresh. I have plenty of paper that could be used up and have nothing that needs to be saved for a rainy day. I look in my scraps box first.

I save them. I generally use them for cutting out misc shapes and titles with my Cameo.

I try to use a healthy mixture if both scraps and new stash. Each time I put together a stash kit, I make a point to pull out a stack of scraps that got the color scheme or theme. Helps me feel like I'm using up my sizable stash, and somehow makes it seem less painful to use the new stuff, too.

I purposely consult my scrap trays first when making a layout. No need to use a new, intact 12x12 sheet, if I already have the size/color/pattern of what I need for the layout as a scrap.

I tend to give them to my daughter, she loves scraps. If I am working with a kit though I will use the scraps until the kit is finished then pass the scraps on, she has a scrap tub under her desk and I just add to it.

Scraps first. I use an expanding folio for mine. The box still one. Legal size. I use it for everything first. And I'm picky on what I keep as a scrap. If not the scraps just keep growing. There's nothing wrong with using scraps up before creating new ones.

I tend to have a look through my scraps first and then go for the bigger pieces, just the way I have always done it.

I pull out the papers that I want to use and then go through my scraps looking for anything else that might work. I love layers so I'm usually able to find something that works.

I am trying to pare down my entire stash so I start with the main paper then add scraps for layering or to ground other items. And I usually check my scrap box when I need to punch or cut something with the cameo. But I have made many layouts using just scraps a piece of white cardstock as a base.

I usually start with at least one 12 x 12 sheet and then use my scraps for accent pieces or to cut things with my Silhouette. I keep them organized by color.

I scrap almost entirely by collection pack or paper pad, which I always keep together, and I always store every last possible usable scrap with the collection/pad. I definitely try to use the scraps before cutting a new sheet.
It's a little harder with cardstock, but I've been storing coordinating cardstock with the collections more and more (once I've found what matches, why should I separate them, and then have to hunt down the perfect color again next time I have to use it?), and then I'm able to use up the CS scraps too.
It's very gratifying getting so much mileage out of my collections!!!

I usually start with a new full sheet of PP for my background. If it is part of a collection, I will pull papers from that first, especially if I have scraps already. Then I go to my scrap basket and rummage through that for additional layers. I do not sort my scraps, they just all get tossed in a basket together. PP & CS. The only scraps I sort are larger scraps that I still have a lot of pieces from that collection, they go back in the collection pack. When the basket gets full and hard to rummage through, I make up some cards and sort the rest and toss what I don't think I will ever use.

I do pretty much what everyone else is saying here. When I "clean up" my scrapbook area, I might have thrown out baskets of scraps...

I've pretty much stopped doing that when I realized I will never make a dent in my THOUSANDS of sheets of paper if I keep working off the scraps. now I put my scraps in a box that I give away to another crafter who could use them.

I love to use my scraps and use them all the time! On the last page I made, I used small scraps to make pinwheels (in another way: I followed a tutorial by Sandi for Scrap Your Scraps. I agree with the others: let your scraps at hand reach to not forget to use them.

I love my scraps and usually reach for them first. Like others, I have often made layouts with one full sheet for the background and the rest from my scraps drawer.

I'm pretty brutal with scraps. If it's much smaller than 4"x4", i usually trash it. The only exception is for white/ivory pieces that i might stamp on for a focal piece.
The keepers stay with the collection (or, for cardstock, in the Ziploc with the rest of that color cardstock). Works okay for me.

Like many of the other posters I usually start with a nice new sheet of paper, then look for papers to layer. First I'll check out other papers in the collection, but if nothing is working for me I'll go to my scraps and can almost always find something there. Scraps are also great if I'm doing PL. I like to use them with my PL dies to make my own cards.

I am the queen of scraps, all of my friends tease me about it. I don't like to waste them and I also like the challenge of using them.

Same as many, I keep most scraps bigger than a couple of inches, use them for punches, mats, etc. I keep them in an expandable folder by color.

I need and would love to use scraps more....but I need a better solution to keeping them out in front of me. Like others, I keep scraps from collection kits with the kits, but it's the oddball size solids that get dumped in a baggie and put on the shelf. Out of sight, out of mind!

I do. I think that is why I have such a hard time making a dent in my stash. I am incredibly frugal with my paper!!!
