I retired in 2017 after 36 years of teaching special education. I am busier now than ever. I can volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House, spend time with friends, help a retiree group of teachers etc. I have a great life (contrary to someone here who said my life must suck..joke is on her). I can travel to Florida to see my niece and great nephew whenever I want. christine58, for some reason I always thought you were a young women in her 30's. Thank you for teaching special education. Those children deserve a great advocate. Funny I thought the same thing lol! Special education teachers have a special place in my heart TY for your dedication!

Good for you! That’s pretty impressive to have been with one company for that long in today’s world.

Many with mental health diagnosis.

Congratulations! I just retired end of February and just now starting to do stuff around the house!
I farted around for a good 8 months before I decided to work part-time from home. I never knew I could be so lazy (and happy).

You will love retirement! I did it two years ago now after 38 years of teaching.
It’s amazing how fast your days will fly. You will love having your time for you.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Congrats! I know you’ve been talking about wanting to for a while, and you’ve been balancing a full time job and being a full time carer to your DH. I hope your retirement gives you time to spend together, and some much needed time for yourself too. 🙂

Congratulations! I just retired end of February and just now starting to do stuff around the house!
I farted around for a good 8 months before I decided to work part-time from home. I never knew I could be so lazy (and happy). I think I adjusted pretty quick, I did miss work (my patients) for about a month and there are days I wonder how certain people are doing. We are almost at the end of our fiscal year (volunteer organization) where I'm club secretary and we just had our annual big fundraiser and our president is probably stressed to the max that she's become somewhat unreasonable in some things. 6 weeks to go with her attitude! After that, I declined a major position (that I will probably have in the year after next) so that I'm the event secretary for the fundraiser for the next year and continue to be the lead trustee of our eye foundation. I need to clean and do a Marie Kondo all around the house.

I am so happy for you!! When is your last day? June 4th. It seems random, but working the 3rd gets me insurance for the month. The company is having a retirement lunch for me, but DH has his quarterly scans on the 3rd. So, the 4th it is!

After 37 years with the same company, I submitted my resignation to retire! Whoo! I am excited and a little terrified. I'll have no trouble keeping busy. I am never bored. I have a long list of fun things and projects around the house to tackle. Congrats! I retired on April 30th and I don't regret it one bit
