So what do you think about who won A.I.?

Laine was one of my favorites last year, so I'm glad he made it this year and won. He's an entertainer. I just don't see how Alejandro made it as far as he did. Everything he sang sounded exactly the same to me- put me to sleep...

I liked both of the Top 2. I think Laine deserved it, though I do wonder ifhis 'staying ability' will be good. I think his style of music is somewhat limited.

Laine has definitely grown on me the last several weeks and I'm happy that he won. I agree that Alejandro's songs all sound the same, but I liked him tonight better than ever before.
I thought it was interesting that the top two were both fairly quiet, shy men.

Of the three, Laine was my favorite. I seriously don’t know how Alejandro made it this far. That was beginning to make me believe the rigged stories. IMHO the best part of the show was Adam Lambert singing Queen. Swoon

Alejandro is far too talented and authentic for American Idol. (And I like American Idol!!) I think Alejandro is better off not being the winner.

I liked both, for different reasons. I think Alejandro has more talent by far. He is AMAZING. But he fits a narrow market. Laine is very marketable. Alejandro has the greatest chance to win a Grammy at some point, but Laine has the greatest chance to sell more music. And that's what music companies want.
I also think Laine already had a marketing company working with him. He showed up for the audition of his friend saying he wasn't going to audition this year, yet he was wearing a hat that had his name on it. And whenever they showed his family they were wearing his merch, too. There was no way he didn't expect the judges to tell him to audition and no way that he wasn't going to audition again. Then there was the transformation into the sharp dressed, dapper young man. No way he decided that on his own. He had a marketing company working with him, telling him to wear his merch and to change his image to stand out.

I pegged Laine as the winner way back ... he has the look and charisma that American Idol is going for ... I appreciate that he is opening up a whole generation to some cool music

I don't think much of it but not surprised in the least. I think Madison should have won it. I think she is much more talented than Laine.

I wondered how Madison made it so far. She always seemed to sound off key to me. When she sang my whole family cringed. Alejandro is super talented as far as song writing and instrument playing, but I got tired of his whispery singing. He has been my favorite nonetheless. Laine has a great voice, but boring stage presence. I'm not surprised that he won.

I agree - I thought she was FLAT FLAT FLAT and could not imagine how she made the finals.

We were happy with Laine. We liked Madison. Also don't understand how Alejandro made it this far. He's good but was always the same. I think there were some very talented artists in this entire group. Many I look forward to hearing more from.
That being said, why does it seem like Maddie Popie is getting the raw end of the deal? They don't seem to be thrilled with her. I like her. I think she's quirky and funny.

I usually fast forwarded through his songs. I always listened to the first 10 seconds or so to see if something was going to sound different. When I didn't hear anything different, I FFed through the rest. Guess I need to be entertained. I thought Madison was off key for most of the shows.

My 2 favorites made it to the final. I predicted Laine. Happy with the choice.

Finally watched. I'm happy with Laine winning and agree with many of you about Alejandro. Always sounded the same, too soft, low volume. I never understood the appeal.
I thought Demetrius was way better than most of the top 6 or 8. He sounded great in the finale and I hope he makes it big.
