Australia surprised me. I didn't realize it was so big. How did I miss that in geography class? Being a regular on Trip Advisor, I would say that many missed it. So many "I have 10 days in Australia and I want to go to Sydney, Perth, Great Barrier Reef and Uluru and we would like to drive between places". Um no LOL. Or the person who wants to know how long it’ll take to drive from Sydney to New Zealand

Having grown up in the great state of Alaska, and being primarily a West Coast girl, I am very used to measuring distances in hours rather than miles.
For us at Kodiak Aleutian Regional High School, our closest HS rival was either a 9 hour open ocean ferry ride or a 90 minute small plane flight . . . To go to basketball regionals (dance/drill team to support) we flew to Homer on a commercial flight drove 3 hours to Anchorage on a school bus, then 12 or 14 hours from Anchorage to Fairbanks.
I do wish they had included Alaska in the comparisons!
