I'm sure we've had this argument before..... This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. I am firmly in the Monday to Sunday camp, with Saturday and Sunday being the weekend. WeekEND, as in the END of the week! I know there are plenty of people who believe that the week starts on a Sunday, including far too many calendar makers. Why is this? I can't see a single reason why people would think that the week starts on a day that is classified as a day that is part of the week end. The reason this has come up today is that I am using a Project 365 scrapbook kit, and the designer has all her weeks starting on Sunday. Luckily it is a digital kit so I am able to change it easily enough, but it's a bit annoying. I went to my trusty online "bible" timeanddate.com regarding all things time and season related, and they had this to say: I would argue that there are plenty of people in the US, Canada and Australia who don't agree that Sunday is the start of the week, and instead follow the international standard like I do. So, tell me your thoughts....

I consider my week to begin with Monday. It is the first day of the work week and Sunday is the last day of the weekend.
Funny that my calendars all show the weeks displayed Sunday-Saturday, but I don’t think of the week running that way, that’s just how the calendar is printed.

Hmm. I have always thought of the week as sun-sat. But everything you write makes total sense and even in my own mind on Sunday nights I think about the week “starting” tomorrow (Monday). So I guess I agree with you but am just used to seeing it as sun-mon on calendars and such.

I dislike calendars where the week starts on Monday. I grew up with all calendars starting on Sunday. Sunday was (is to me) the starting end of the week with Saturday being the ending end. Like string has two "ends" I'd guess that when the calendar was set that religion, not work, ruled the determination of what day the week started with. The New Testament speaks of Sunday as being the first day of the week

Sunday, largely because of my faith.
Plus, Mondays can be dreary, so why start the week on a dreary note?

I consider Monday the start of the week. That’s the way my Moleskin planner lines up the weeks and it makes perfect sense to me.
In other calendars that split the weekend up, it always messes up the aesthetic to highlight weekend plans. Saturday and Sunday should be beside one another on the calendar.

Monday. A lot of times our weekend is on a weekday though, but in general I feel Monday is when it starts.

Monday. I've set up my online calendar to have Monday as the first day of the week. It makes more sense and easier to set up weekend plans that way.

I like Monday’s being that start but go with Sunday’s because that’s what I was taught.

I'm in the US, in my world it starts on Monday. I ignore the fact that planners and calendars start on Sunday

I like calendars that keep Sat-Sun together. That is one of the reasons I like Japanese planners, they start the week on Monday.

The Sabbath was the seventh day until Jesus was resurrected on Sunday, then the early Christians started meeting on the first day to remember the resurrection.

Sunday.
Sunday is the first day of the week because Saturday is the seventh day also known as the the sabbath or the day of rest.

Sunday only because the calendar says so. When we travel in Europe I’m aware that it starts on a Monday. Also, dates are day/month/year and gas is in litres, in Canada and in Europe. I was a little surprised when I once heard an American fellow say “gas is so cheap here” in Italy.

The Sabbath is on Saturday. It was the seventh day. Sunday is the first day. then why is Sunday the day of rest and the day people go to church? The sabbath day is Saturday according to the Judaeo Christian. Both Jews and Christians rest on the sabbath (Saturday) and meet at church on the first day (Sunday). Exception is 7th Day Adventist who not only rest on the sabbath but also attend church on that day.
