I’m not religious, but I just cannot get out of thinking it starts on Sunday. Monday just sound weird to me, although I understand everyone’s rationale for that. I don’t use a planner though, I use the apple calendar on my phone and computer, and of course, it starts on Sunday!

for me, the week starts on Sunday. However, to complicate things in my mind... I am a 911 dispatcher who works weekends, so my days off are Weds, Thurs and Fri lol...talk about weird!

Logically, it starts on Monday, hence the "weekend" and "on the seventh day, the Lord rested". No idea why all the calendars have Sunday as the first day. That being said, because I grew up with it this way, the first day is Sunday, culturally.

The sabbath day is Saturday according to the Judaeo Christian. Both Jews and Christians rest on the sabbath (Saturday) and meet at church on the first day (Sunday). Exception is 7th Day Adventist who not only rest on the sabbath but also attend church on that day. so obviously I am an idiot when it comes to this, but then why did the blue laws make places closed on Sunday instead of Saturday? This is fascinating to me I believe it was that you are not to drink on day of church. But someone else correct me if I am wrong

In my head the week starts on Monday, but I want my calendar to start with Sunday. I'm too set in my ways to ever want to switch to a Monday-start calendar.

Even now Banks Mail service Car dealerships (a law, but I think also due to the banks being closed) Are the ones that are all still closed on a Sunday

I am firmly in the Sunday is the last day of the week club. Most things and people seem to use it in that form, I hate that calendars start the week with Sunday.
We had some project tracking software at work that was set up with Sunday as the first day of the week. It made me crazy during the months that I worked Saturday and Sunday. That information did not align with how everything else was tracked and recorded if you worked on Sundays.

Monday is the start of the week, Sunday is the last day of the weekend. But I have never seen a calendar printed this way.

Definitely Monday. I hate calendars that are printed sun-sat. It doesn't make sense to split up the weekend. When i go away for the weekend I want to mark off those days together on my calendar. Not on separate lines.

Since I'm a firm believer in "It's not all about me", I have no problem with a calendar running from Sunday to Saturday. My personal week begins on Monday and my weekend is Sat & Sun.
With SDA family members I'm used to having to work around the Saturday "sabbath" religious day of trying to make the world adjust to them. I big part of my "It's not about me" thinking. I know of no other religion as intolerant and pushy as that one.

Both, because I'm complicated.
The Biblical view is Sunday. From times of old, the Sabbath was on Saturday. Sunday was the start of the new week. The start of the actual week is Sunday.
Now we have 2 day weekends, but not everyone gets Sat./Sun. Some weekends are in the middle of the week. So for them, their personal week is way different.
When I get a family wall calendar they almost always start on Sunday which is DH's preference. My personal preference to start with week is Monday. I purposefully search on personal sized inserts that start on Monday. My week starts on Monday, my weekend is Saturday-Sunday for planning life.

I have never considered the way a calendar is set up to be anything to do with religion so I’m surprised to see that mentioned so often on this thread. I always assumed it was because a normal working week (obviously not for everyone) is Monday to Friday, then two days off (again, I know there are lots of exceptions), but that’s how most schools, colleges, non-retail businesses, offices, builders, landscapers etc work. I guess I thought in the early days of publishing when calendars were first produced, they were done like that for that reason. It doesn’t explain why the US does it differently though. Interesting!

This is fascinating to me Because in a time and place that was predominantly Christian, a religion that uses Sunday as the day of worship, they created laws to "encourage" or enforce church attendance which is on Sunday for Christians. Many of them call it the sabbath but only the Jews practice the original Sabbath traditions at the appropriate time.

OMG you just made my YEAR! I hate calendars that start on a Sunday (I'm a Monday-Sunday gal!) but I always just went along with my iMac's calendar that is Sun-Sat. Guess what I just changed thanks to poking around the Preferences after seeing your post? Woohoo!!!

Sunday for me. The park hours calendar for Six Flags over Texas starts on Monday do I “may” have looked at it quickly and thought it opened at 9AM one Friday when reality was it didn’t open until 5 PM and I was actually looking at Saturday! They was fun! We live an hour away so the oldest and I had a lot of time to kill before the park actually opened.
