I had to miss part of the debate; did anyone attack Harris on her record as a DA and AG? BTW, Matt Gaetz was impressed with Tulsi G last night. Is she gonna be Jill Stein 2.0? 🤔

The democrats are the party of illegal aliens first, American citizens second.

My dream team, Harris/Warren or Warren/Harris. I'll take them either way. I don't have anything against Biden, but he didn't seem as strong as the others. He had a hard time finding his words. On Wednesday, I really liked Castro and Klobuchar. My son loves Bernie. He's 26.

lisae - I think ultimately if your country does get to a single payer/medicare for all scenario, it would have to be done the way someone (Gillibrand, maybe?) said - incrementally. I think someone like Harris will figure out if she can get a deal done to achieve it and if not, will find some way to improve the system that will work for the majority of every day people. She's pragmatic, practical & thoughtful. I agree. The ACA was a big change to implement. Some of us who buy our own insurance were affected in a huge and for me, positive way. For many, the ACA added rules that might affect them down the road but mostly had no impact. Yet this all took years to implement and is still being met with resistance and still needs improvements. I'm not sure how other countries got to single payer, but they got there years ago before medical care was so costly. If something as popular as social security hadn't been done decades ago, I doubt it could be done today. We are just so divided and resistant to anything new and particularly anything suggested by politicians.

After 2 nights of this, it's as clear as can be: The democrats are the party of illegal aliens first, American citizens second. This is not remotely true. If it is the perception though, candidates need to be sure they keep their focus on ideas that benefit our citizens. And I thought they did that. You can be the president for Americans and still be compassionate to immigrants trying to escape dangerous situations in their own countries. Recognizing the illegal immigrants already living here and contributing to our economy is just a smart thing to do and is the best way to put America first. Advancing the quality of life for American citizens and treating immigrants with dignity and compassion are not mutually exclusive. In fact, you really can't do one without the other, successfully.

Is she gonna be Jill Stein 2.0? 🤔 No one attacked Harris that I recall. (That Kamala ain’t scared to deliver a takedown. I can almost see her not sparing an inch of Trump. If she wins the nom, that will be one hell of a debate.) Tulsi? The Right is saying MAGA people would vote for her. I don’t know about that but the conservatives are in a lovefest with her right now. With the Left, however, she’s trailing the frontrunners by somewhere around 30 points. Not promising.

Because our preference is to treat undocumented immigrants as human beings and not as cockroaches as your president desires? With a multitude of plans to help the working and middle classes, that’s the conclusion you came to? Healthcare to the uninsured, free higher education to those who can’t afford it, middle class tax cuts, climate change, family bill of rights, help for daycare for kids, end gun violence, take on special interests groups, strengthen civil rights, crack down on corruption, boost the farmers instead of agribusiness, etc. And what you came away with is the Dems are the party of illegal aliens, citizens second? What an incredibly ignorant person you are.

I can't speak to the actual candidates because I haven't been paying much attention yet but would a two woman ticket win? I'd love to see it happen, and maybe it will in my lifetime, but I'm not sure it would this time around. I'm ok with being wrong though.

He seemed tired to me, which isn’t a good look when you have two stars demanding that it’s time to pass the torch to the younger, more progressive candidates. I’ve always thought Biden wasn’t in sync with the progressivism Dems are aching for, and his performance did nothing to change my mind. Trump fights dirty so we need someone who has the passion and ferocity to go mano a mano with him. I think Kamala fits the bill.

If you don't see these "perks" encourage more and more to make the dangerous journey then you are incredibly ignorant.
I'm not surprised though. The democrats and their left wing propaganda media first said there weren't caravans heading to the U.S. Then they said there was no crises. Then they said it was a manufactured crisis. Now it's a humanitarian crisis. Which is it?
Why is it the democrats won't say how much these "perks" are going to cost the citizens? They have no clue because we have no clue who even lives here, and that's just how the democrats want it. The democrats want to block that information from ever getting out. Ignorance is bliss.

I got the idea that a good lot of them realize this an issue that needs addressing, humanely and urgently. I guess we all view things through our own lens though, don’t we? 😏

Illegal aliens?? You mean, like, E.T.? Sorry you have a problem with the phrase, but that's what it is. As a legal immigrant who is STILL referred to as an “alien” in all my legal immigration paperwork, I detest it It’s demeaning. I guess that’s the point isn’t it, though? To demean and dehumanize people. If you do that, it’s far easier to treat them with the contempt they deserve. 😑

SockMonkey I love you and your memes. I came away from both nights excited by Warren, Harris, Castro, Buttigieg and Booker. I felt a little badly for Joe only because I think his heart is usually in the right place. He's a lifelong public servant. But when you've got a lifetime of on-the-record decisions for people to point out, you're going to end up on the defense so much more often than the offense. It frustrated me a ton in 2016. Hillary had no policy/political decision history to point out with trump because he's only ever been a self-serving blowhard. I liked Pete's answer to what's happening in South Bend. (To be honest, I need to read up on the details.) A politician who can admit he's flawed and has work to do to improve? LOVE. I will be so excited for the next debate. Let's get this group whittled down so there's more time to hear from the true contenders. I love my party. I am proud to be a Democrat. Feelin' it this week!

I find it amusing, in a scandalized kind of way, that someone who supports the current occupant of the White House would spend even a moment focusing on anyone else’s supposed tolerance of illegal activity.

In which case, you must have a blissful existence. The majority of Americans want a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. And NO, Dems are not advocating for open borders. They want to decriminalize the presence of the undocumented VIA LEGISLATION, not via subverting the rule of law, as well as continue to deport those with criminal offenses. And what positive outcome would there be to deny this population access to healthcare? Whether you like it or not, numerous industries in this country rely on this workforce. These people pay taxes, too. Or would you prefer the sick amongst them be left untreated so we end up with more and more of them in our emergency rooms? None of these negate the Dems’ desire for a comprehensive immigration reform package. Because immigration is a hellaciously complex issue, there is no magic wand Dems can wield to make it happen. In the meantime, they’re trying to find ways to treat these people as human beings as opposed to the punitive measures Trump loves. Because his way is to sow more divisiveness, more chaos, more fear, more inhumanity. If you cannot or refuse to understand any of this, then I’m not inclined to go any further in engaging with you.

It was frustrating to waste time listening to the participants who don’t have a ghost of a chance of being president. Yes, Marriane Williamson and Andrew Yang and a couple of others , I’m talking about you. I appreciate that anyone can run for president, I wanted to hear more for those who might actually occupy the White House.
Kamala really stood out. Biden and Sanders are both old news and need to pass the torch.

You mean like the trillions that the GOP and Trump have added to the deficit for a give away to the most wealthy in the IS. The one that hasn’t done anything for job growth or wage growth.

I just ordered a “My Time is Up” Joe Biden tee. I love watching white men get upset between their sets reading my t-shirts. Probably about as much as they love wearing MAGA hats. Visiting my sister in Ohio and can’t go to my LAF CrossFit gym and I’m struggling haha

I remember her from back in the ‘80s (I think it was then). One of my wacko new age friends gave me a set of her Course in Miracles tapes. I couldn’t make it all the way through them. I was shocked when I realized she was running for president. She always reminds me of one of those Tony Robbins or Aimee Semple McPherson types. She likes to collect followers.
