I know that AN will love this, but I'm having another "vanity" photo session done on vacation in NM. LOL What can I say, this is my souvenir rather than some piece of junk, and it's something I love forever.
SO ANYWAY.... Photographer is taking us to the mountains overlooking the Rio Grande Gorge bridge. I'm super stoked. I want a big flowy gown so I took an old vintage wedding gown and cut off the bottom and made it into a skirt, bought a lace top to wear with it. It's all off white... kinda wedding-y. (this will be around our anniversary anyway). Trying to figure out what to put my husband in. We have to hike up a little ways so I'll be carrying my dress in a backpack. I really don't want to make him hike in a suit or something. All I can think are tan slacks and maybe a loose white shirt? I might make him take his shirt off because for 58, whoa, he's got it going on. haha. UPDATE:
Here's a couple of the photos. I went with a white shirt and tan pants he already had. I didn't like the shirtless ones (most of them) that we did. She didn't see my vision, but we can always try again some other time. eta:

Dress pants, and suspenders, no shirt? Do you want it to match your vibe/style? Maybe something like a vintage tweed vest? I gotta admit, I totally pictured kilt and no shirt when reading your description.

I like Ashleys suggestion of a tweed vest. Thinking vintage time period. Khaki pants, tweed vest or loose beige button up shirt (whatever compliments your skirt color). Not sure what the correct name of it is... newsboy cap?, gatsby hat?

What time of year? Summer, go for dress shorts and linen shirt with comfy shoes.

Did AN have a problem with some other photo shoot? Lol! Haven't seen her since she got outed, not that I minded one way or the other. Too bad she didn't feel comfortable saying what she really felt or just keeping quiet. I've been to that bridge I think, loved NM so much! There are signs all over the bridge for suicide prevention. Keep that out of the shoot! IDK what to dress him in, though. Whatever says to you "that's my man".

All I can think are tan slacks and maybe a loose white shirt? If you want to dress it up a bit, you can add suspenders and a bow tie.

She's never said anything to make me think there's an issue. I don't know why AN/Kaetlyn (whatver the name was) disliked me so much, but oh well. Not everyone likes you in life and that's ok. Gives life a little flavor.

Whew... you girls know all the right things to say. Getting hot in here. lol.
Zee - AN/Alter called me out after I shared my Paris photo shoot. (I shared it because you guys helped me pick a dress). Said I was vain. My response is... yeah, and? Nothing wrong with wanting photos with people you love.

My husband has a black utilikilt! My dress is off white, vintage lace, big flowy thing... think that would look good together??

For what it's worth I don't think you are vain at all. I loved that you shared the photos in Paris with us and I'm sure the other Peas feel the same way.
On to your question. I like the idea of a white linen shirt and tan pants. I would take some with it buttoned and some unbuttoned especially since your DH is toned. That way you've got a choice. I guess you could easily throw a tie and a hat in your backpack if you want to take a few that way too, but personally I don't care for that look. It's what look you like, right?
Have fun with it and if it turns out anywhere as great as your Paris shot it'll be fantastic.
PS. I don't know what a black utilikilt is but consider buying your man a Scottish patterned kilt and I bet he'd look amazing! If you like that look and what woman doesn't? I know there are places online to buy them.

yes!! I think with the right style shoes. Maybe you can wear construction boots (serious, when I was in grade 10 I work work boots with all my dresses)

I vote for kilt, white/off-white granddad shirt, maybe a tweed vest, and some facial stubble if he can pull it off at all.

Maybe two outfits. Does he look good in tight, faded jeans ? Paired with a white dress shirt. I like the tan slacks, but I’m thinking the right faded jeans can be tighter than the slacks. Just a thought. Your pictures are always stunning, so I know you’ll choose right.

In the boat with raging rapids so he can take the bad ass picture set in timer mode so he can jump into the picture & jump back into the boat. No one will know he took the picture & you will save a shit ton of money by doing it yourself! I personally can’t wait to see this picture!!

I love the idea of photo shoots like this.
I agree with something along the lines of khaki pants and a linen shirt for him. Nothing black or any other dark color -- better to blend in with your dress rather than have on a garment that ends up standing out in the photos because it's too different.

Update in the OP!
I liked the kilt idea, but good thing we didn't, it was REALLY windy up there. I also thought about taking my parachute (I have a 40 foot vintage pink parachute I've used as a dress on shoots). But we were so close to the edge, I was realllllly glad I didn't do that!
