Happy Monday Pokeys!!!
I hope that all is well with you! I'm on my lunch at work and thought that I would check in. Life here is going swell. Mallory (16 yr old dd) and Griffin (10 yr old ds) start school on Wednesday, so they are getting geared up for that. We've bought all of their school supplies and Grif has an ice cream social at his school tonight. I think they are both bored with being at home, so they are ready to head back to school. I think Griffin has read about 40 books this summer, he is a serious reader...so going back to school will add some variety to his reading and will force him to interact more. Sometimes I worry about how much time he spends in his own world, but I think I was that way when I was his age, so I try to keep perspective about it.
Ann Christine - That LO is adorable!!! I love the stitching and your baby is sooo cute!
Well, I guess I should get back to work, I'd like to get out of here on time tonight.
Fondly,
Tina

Hi, all! I'm back. Tired but glad to be home. We had a wonderful time. My brother lives right on the Snake River and we had a big barbecue and water fun. He has a huge hill that we covered with plastic for a slip 'n slide for the little ones. They filled a 16' pool for the younger ones too. The older ones played on the kayak, inflatable boats and paddle boards. There were tired children, a few little sunburned spots, and lots of visiting. We had close to 50 there with my siblings and their families. On the 24th we did huge fireworks as a neighborhood in a cul-de-sac. Lots of fun for the kids. I can't believe all that I have missed on this thread. Theresa, congrats on the Job!!!!! Is it going to be what you want and need? When do you start and what exactly will you be doing? I love your layouts and left you some comments. Kelly, Kelly, Kelly! So fun to see layout from you. Cute as can be and I love the way you added the glitter paper. Left you a comment but it didn't post, so I left another one. You may have 2 show up from me! Cindy, sounds like fun with the kids. The Scrambler...not my favorite ride. I love Ferris Wheels and things that go high, but I don't like to spin! Sounds like fishing was fun and that one that got away must have been a hugie! My DB's grandson was fishing in the river after everyone got out of the water, and pulled in (with some help) a bass about as big as he is. Tina, be sure to scan your pages and post them for us to enjoy. I really miss the 2peas layouts. Hey, do you think you could talk O into coming here to clean for me? How nice of her to work and let you scrap. You did a good job rearing that girl! How was Mal's concert? Corinne, I'm glad you enjoy the comments. Continue to show your DH so he'll know how much we enjoy your layouts. Bonnie, your Harry Potter page is perfect. Did you get special embellishments made for Harry Potter, or did you manufacture the raven, typewriter, etc. yourself? Very clever and such a great page. Ann, I left you some love on your page. That is the cutest baby. I can't believe babies like yours and Pam's DGD who have HAIR! My babies were practically bald til they were 3. Glad you got your project done and had some time to scrap. Nan, so glad the Fair went well and the kids got good ribbons. I hope things work out with having your DSS moving in. It's always an adjustment to have someone new moving into the house. Hugs to you. I finished a page just before we left, but didn't get it posted. The Mickey head outline was graciously cut for me by a Pea, MTCANUK, who responded when I asked about where she got the pattern she used on her page. She sent me a whole envelope of various sizes. What a sweetie! I'm sure I'm missing things I meant to comment on, but my mind is blank. I'm hoping to scrap a bit this week. We really need to get going on our 4-H projects too. Have a great day!

Bonnie, the Ladybug ride is in California Adventure in the Bug's Life Area. Mostly smaller rides for younger children in that area. The grands loved it. I think we rode them all! I'm sooo impressed with your DIY embellishments for Harry Potter. Perfect!

Nylene, LOL over your comment about us singing into the ATG's. We were actually blowing them off, cause we'd used them til they were hot, LOL. We're just goofy gals! I go to New Albany, IN next week for training and am doing online training here at home this week. It's a nurse education position where I'll be going into homes in my county and the next county over and teaching chronic health patients how to stay healthy and stay out of hospitals. I think I'll like it. Has a lot of freedom with it, I can pick and choose days to work so if I want to take off for golf or more importantly to drive up and see the grandbaby I can. Glad you had a great trip with your family. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Tina, kids here start next week. SO early. When I was a kid we had Summer off between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Of course, we didn't get Fall Breaks either.

Thanks guys! OH man, this kid has more hair...he's 17 months now and he's had 6 haircuts!! Totally my DH's side of the family, although we're not too shabby either. Nylene, I left you some love on your PB account on the Disney layout Sounds like your trip was great! That's a LOT of people!! Tina, I've been on a stitching kick lately and I have no idea why lol! Maybe it's therapeutic or something... I love stitching on layouts but I can't use my sewing machine (no room and I really don't know how to use it..ha!) so I guess this is my way to get stitching on pages. I was a total reader too as a kid and I'm well-adjusted now There are certainly WAY worse things to be into! Ok, lunchbreak over.

Hi everyone! Looks like all is well!
Nylene so good to have you back! Sounds like you had a great trip! We missed you for sure.
AnnChristine- I almost always do hand stitching on my pages if I have stitching on a page. Took a class of Ali Davis who hand stitches on every layout. I love the look of it.
Kelly I saw and pinned a lot of your art work on Pinterest over the weekend! I knew it was yours as soon as I saw it! Nylene oif you want to pin it it is on my favorites board!
Bonnie -your two layouts are so fun! I love the fonts you used for your titles!
Going to go do dinner-BBL!

Hey ladies! Hope your afternoon was fine. It has been sort of hot and humid here so I am adjusting to it. Yucky! Hopefully our normal dry weather will return soon. (can't believe I said that! ) Our weekend was quite and I did get more painting and drawing done. I wanted to work on a lo but my printer was/is going crazy. Cindy, maybe you can help with this. I wanted to print some b&w pictures but they keep coming out faded color like when the color ink is running out. I am very low on color ink and our black is brand new. So strange! Any advice?
Thanks for all the praise on my last lo of the park day. Now if I can get my printer working tonight maybe tomorrow I can do another one.
Nylene- What a time you and your family had!!!! It sounded awesome. This must be so thrilling for you and your siblings to see all your dc & dgc run around with each other creating fun memories. Also, your lo with the ladybugs is too cute!
Cindy- Yeah, it was so cool to see my 2peas friend over there pinning. I was in a pinning mood too. They just have sooo much over there and I gotta spend more time over there getting some art inspiration. Your trip to the fair was fun. I haven't been in ages. I am sure it has changed since I was there. You and Nylene must be the coolest grandmothers! You rock!
Waving hi to you all and hope you have a lovely evening!

Hi ladies!!! Nylene - I'm sooo glad to see you back. Your trip sounds like a TON of fun...I wish we had family to do things like that with, it sounds great. Mal's performance went great, she did an awesome job and had so much fun. She is funny, she likes being kind of in the background a bit, where Olivia always wanted to be front and center for every performance. They are really different in that way. BTW, I really love your Disney LO...it's so bright & happy. It looks like they had fun...but I don't do spinning things either, I would have been with you by the fence. Theresa - I'm sooo happy that you found a job that seems like it will suit you well. Having flexibility and not such a long drive every day sounds like it will be great for you. After your last gig, you were due for something really good....YAY! Ann Christine - 6 haircuts at 17 months??? That is crazy! I had little bald children for the first couple of years...LOL. He is sooo cute! (I LOVE babies) Well, I'm off to watch the Bachelorette - I have to see which of these dudes she chooses (although I'm not sure that I like either of them).

Kelly try this-click on properties and look for where it says grayscale and check that and your photos should print in B&W. I am going to email you this also. Let me know if you have already tried that or not.

Bonnie, I love your layouts. Those dinos are so cute. Your palm trees are perfect. Are they a QK die? I'm always hunting for an idea of how to cut a palm tree and have it look good. I've tried with google image silhouettes that I can trace in SCAL, but haven't found anything as cute as those! Love the swirls on your Power Rangers. The black behind some of them is so dramatic. Perfect for Power Rangers. Great job!
Cindy, I will go look at your Pinterest so I can get some of Kelly's art. I did a bunch of pinning before the 24th so when 2Peas really disappears I will have some of my bookmarked layouts. I keep checking and the gallery is still there. I try to do some looking through old pages when I get a minute. I hate to see that resource gone.
Ann, 17 months and 6 haircuts. That's amazing! I need to try hand stitching on my layouts. I love hand stitching, like hand hems, etc. I would probably enjoy it. I have done some stitching with my machine (wish you lived next door and I'd help you with your machine) but I forget to do it most of the time.
Theresa, I think that sounds like the perfect job for you. You are so good caring for your Aunts and Uncle Charlie. They couldn't find a more caring and dedicated person for that position. And the ability to take some days off will also be good for you in caring for and loving your own family and granddaughter. Please let us know how the training is going and how you like it.
Tina, isn't it funny how 2 children reared in the same house, the same way can be so different. No question that babies come with their own individual personalities that are then shaped by their upbringing and experiences. You have such great kids. I can't believe your kids are heading back to school. Ours go back early this year, Aug 19th. I will really miss having the grands around and in and out.

Hi Nylene! I agree with you about the different personalities Kellie & Becky are opposites and Maggie & Bobby are very different also. Some things are passed down to children that I never realized. I saw more of Kelly's art there today. It might be the same and not many folks pinned over the weekend!

I have had it for a long time, but I love the little trees it makes.
Even though I scraplifted the Power Rangers page, I really like how it turned out, because I really had no clue on how I was going to scrap that costume.

One more page completed tonight that I started last week, worked on it a few minutes this past weekend: Harper RacingUnfortunately, going back into the negative vault so-to-speak, I did not find any photos really of my son wearing this costume by himself (before I had a digital camera) where he was really looking at the camera. So I used one with myself dressed as Rat in the Hat from Bananas and Pajamas. The photo on the far right where he is jumping on the bed, was taking months later when he was just playing around in his costume.

Going to take a while for me to get used to not being able to leave praise on the actual layouts! I haven't went back through all the pages but have just been blown away with the awesome ones I've seen so far! Wow, you ladies have a ton of talent!!!!!!!
sbartist--Bonnie? What fantastic layouts featuring the kids in costume. Perfect elements!
58 degrees in Kentucky this morning. It was 95 with a head index of 104 on Sunday. Even the plants are confused as to what season it is. The leaves are turning and starting to drop from the trees. I think we're headed for a really bad winter.
Plan on spending most of the day outside just reading, did yard work yesterday so I shouldn't be distracted. I have continuing education unit's to finish for my license renewal and it involves reading from an actual book instead of the computer screen so I can take it outside in the sunshine. At 3 this afternoon I have a webinar to do for more orientation for the job and will have to be inside for that. Going to the church to do more landscape work afterward, will sure be a nicer day for doing that than it was last Tuesday when I melted.
Have a great Tuesday all!

Bonnie, you blow me away with your embellishments. I wish I could do that as well as you do. I really need to work on that. I have a layout on my table right now that's done except for the embellishments. I struggle to make great layered clusters. Love the embossed piece you added. Maybe I need to do some embossing!
Theresa, glad it has cooled down for you. We are doing outdoor cooking today in Cubs and it's raining. Ugh! Oh, well.
Better run and get things finished. I can't believe we are almost at the end of July. Where has the summer gone?

Good Afternoon! Hope all is going well with everyone! Just a quick stop by to tell you a good one! Maggie came home from vacation and told me she wanted to make a multi-media board like I made three years ago with her vacation photos. For those who were not around then I did a double page layout on a piece of wood. You can see it here: Shimmering Memory Board she said I inspired her to do one. so today she started doing the prep work. I was so surprised when she said she wanted to do it. Just warms my heart that I inspired her to do this! I will of course post it here when she is finished creating. For the newbies Maggie is my 10 year old DGD. I just had to share!

Cindy, I'm so glad Maggie is following in your footsteps. We definitely need to see it when she finishes. I love the one you made. What a good grandma you are to help her with whatever she wants to do. She's an artsy little gal. Lyssie and I went fabric shopping this a.m. to get fabric for a 4-H project. There just aren't as many beautiful fabrics now as there were when my kids were young. I wanted to get a rayon challis to make a scarf and no one in JoAnn's had heard of it! Hancock had a few pieces, but not much choice in colors. There are lots of cottons for quilters, but not a lot of other options. Can you tell I'm old and want to find what I could easily buy 20 years ago? LOL. I'm working on 2 Disney layouts. I'm scraplifting a DT member at Cocoa Daisy for the Stashbusters challenge, but the more I work on it, the less it looks like the original. That's usually the way it goes for me. Pam, your layouts are gorgeous. I left some comments on your PB account. You do such beautiful work. Have a great day. I'll be posting the new Pokey Peas Refugees July thread on Friday. Where has the month gone?

Hey girls! Can you believe it is almost August??? This year is moving. I have been drawing and painting. Didn't do as much today. I guess I needed a break. But I have been on Pinterest seeing all sorts of beautiful and fun things. They got everything on there. So cool! Bonnie- You layouts are so very well done and detailed. I just enjoyed looking at them all. Fantastic job!!!! Pam- Well, it looks like the humidity came out here and the Fall weather went out to you. LOL! But glad you were able to get with your Ruby. She really makes your heart sing! I gotta go see your layouts. Cindy- Your dgd is mini you! how lovely that she remembered that piece you made and is inspired to make her own. She definitely an art in training. Glad she has you to teach and encourage her. Maybe she will be a famous designs/artist down the road. Ann- Yeah, mixed media is so fun. Join the party! Take care everyone and have a restful evening!

Good evening girls... just got back from playing in the sand box, playing dolls house, singing and dancing with my Ruby Jo. Oh,and we also fed the fish, mowed[with her play mower],and watered dd's flowers. Just to name a few things off the little whirlwind's list of activities.Whew, now I am in my jammies and that is a good thing, lol!
Cindy,I remember that incredible mixed media layout that you did! So glad that you will be able to guide Maggie so that she does a work of art too!! Yes,please,we must see the completed project... how fun!!
I wanted to thank you girls for the wonderful comments on my layouts. What special friends and how encouraging and supportive you all are. Just saying,it doesn't go un-noticed. Thanks again.
Yes Kelly,we have apparently swapped weather, temporarily, lol. Today we didn't reach 80 and it was so beautiful, but just not our typical July. Oh,well,it's not up to us...
Nylene, you say the same thing I say, when I go fabric shopping. Where is all the good stuff. I also say, while I am a bit older, some of those fabrics are down right ugly and not what I am looking for. The stores around here have very little selection and I am not sure what you use those prints for?? Oh,the good ole days....
Well,I am deep into another book,so Soon Come Pam

I'm still here, just nothing to share. I did upload 800+ pics to shutterfly though. I'm converting my project 365 album from 2009 to digital from traditional. It's just to big and going back through it, a lot of the pics seemed useless. So redo here I come. I'll be working on that today and tonight.
