I bought the trimmer a year ago, and still LOVE IT! I actually just bought a replacement blade, a mat strip, and the Wave blade. They should arrive tomorrow. Not sure how I know when the blade/mat has done 1500 cuts - will it start to fray paper like other trimmer blades when replacement is needed? I just felt I was getting close so ordered them to have on hand. I have several of the blades. I love that they all store on the bottom of the trimmer. Do you know you can turn the blade/mat around to get more life out of it? There are four ways to turn it.

I have been on the fence with this trimmer, mainly because of the price. I use an old fiskars trimmer that is ok but not my favorite. I have a bunch of CM tools that I bought years ago & still use. I recently connected with a CM consultant & she is awesome! I caved & bought the border maker & a few cartridges & now need to play with it. I think this is at the top of my list next time she offers free shipping, she always has special offers for her customers. The videos are great & I am surprised at all you can do with this trimmer. Happy to hear it is well loved! I love the border maker cartridges! I signed up to be a consultant just to be able to get some of the punches. (Some are only available to consultants.) The discount is nice too. I wouldn't do it before when there was a sales quota.

I bought this trimmer in March & I have been really loving it as well. This thread prompted me to reach out to the CM consultant I bought it from & get some extra blades and extra mat strips - I'm going to pick them up tonight!! I'm also getting a scoring blade - excited to try it out! The one (small) thing that bothers me is if I am trying to cut a small strip from a narrow strip (like 1/2" wide) it doesn't want to stay put so my cut gets wonky. I tend to pull out my old Fiskar when my paper gets too narrow. Otherwise I really like it! Put a post-it on the narrow strip. Then butt that whole thing up to the 'bumper' on the top or bottom. Close the arm thingy. Then cut. It works really well for me when I want to knock a bit off of a small bit. This is the most genius thing I have read in a long time! I like to cut sentiment strips and trying to cut the second side is so difficult to make sure it is straight. You just changed my card making game. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

My CM person taught it to me. She was great ! (she moved away) I have the name of a new person, but haven't used her yet. I'm sure she's great too.

Guzismom, tell us why you do not like the Creative Memories paper trimmer? Or if anyone else does not like the Creative Memories trimmer, tell us why? I have a Genesis trimmer in the craft building which is a wonderful trimmer. I was thinking about purchasing the Creative Memories trimmer to keep in the house for when I craft in the house which is only every once in a while. I know that some of the "cheap" trimmers do not cut straight lines which is why I ended up going to the Genesis trimmer.

If anyone is ordering and wanted to add another tool from CM I just ordered the new corner rounder that has an inverse (that may not be the right word) corner rounder as well that is really cool. It basically cuts the corners like on a ticket, I got one with my blade refill order and it is awesome. www.creativememories.com/2-way-corner-rounder.html

What are the "symptoms" of needing to be turned?

It does not cut straight, esp. for little bits...and I don't want to have to use a hack to get a straight cut.
The cutting strip wears out very quickly. I have turned it every which way and they are all worn out in less than three months. I mean, I scrap a lot but come on.
CM shipping is expensive; I need a new strip but when the shipping is more than the item, I put it off. I don't want anything else from them. I don't want to buy multiples as I'm not sure this thing is going to 'stand the test of time' in my scraproom. I bought the trimmer on Amazon; why can't I buy the cutting strips there too? Don't know...but they're not there.
I am going back to my fiskars. Actually, I already have...

I bought one on the recommendations of the Peas from the beginning of this thread. I love it. It’s sturdy and well made. Once I tried it out I went ahead and bought the deckle and scallop blades too. Being able to change blades makes it more versatile then my Fiskers (the one with the wire) although it did serve me well.
Ok so after reading this thread I think I might ‘need’ the scoring blade.

Looks like CM is running a special. If you spend $150 you can pick 1 of 2 different bundles. Each bundle includes a 12x12 album with extras plus a punch. Very tempting as I want to order that trimmer. Figure the trimmer is already $50 plus I know I will want a few blades & the scoring blade. Toss in a border maker cartridge and a few misc items & you are at $150. I will use all of it. Trying to justify spending that money!

I wanted to come back w/a picture of how I deal w/cutting small width paper into even smaller widths. Here is a picture of how I add a post-it to the small width piece to keep it bumped up against the bumper and steadied when I'm trimming off an 1/8" or 1/4" of it. It doesn't happen that much because I'm usually not cutting such small width papers into even smaller, but it's nice to know it works. In that CM video I listed above, she said the width between the cut line (the one on the left with the down-pointing arrow) and the cut line next to it is 1/8". Between the cut line and the end of the cutting mat is another 1/8". That was really helpful to know.

Honest question : is Creative Memories a MLM? It was back in the day, I’m assuming it still is, just like Stampin’ Up and Close to my Heart. These are the only MLM’s I buy from anymore because I have friends that are consultants or whatever they’re called and they pass their discount onto me. But 🤫 don’t tell. 😂

Honest question : is Creative Memories a MLM? Yes definitely. But a fairly low pressure one from all I can tell. My CM consultant was always hosting crops and never said a word when crafters would use other products. She was super low key about their products and "hustling" was non-existent. I think they used to be more rah-rah w/the "girl boss" stuff in their earlier iteration, they were super fusty and started flailing, then they went to Ani & Zoe, then they came back to their core strengths: albums, pp, tools, and slightly more up-to-date designs.

I'm getting some albums, the rest of the blades for the trimmer that I don't have, and some paper packs.
