From Moscow Mitch...
”I spoke on the Senate floor today about my extensive record of standing up to Russia, election security, and why we won’t let some Democrats exploit this crisis to push unrelated partisan priorities that have been on their wish list long before 2016.”
Liar liar pants on fire!

”We should immediately pass Voter ID @voteridplease to insure the safety and sanctity of our voting system. Also, Paper Ballots as backup (old fashioned but true!). Thank you!”
Sure pass voter ID as long as you make whatever ID required free and easily accessible to all eligible Americans.

Too easy to catch and fix any Russian interference that way. Besides, Moscow Mitch claims paper ballots are just a Democratic ruse for stealing elections.

Why does Mitch block so many bills from being voted on. He has a majority. Does he not trust his fellow Republicans?

Why does Mitch block so many bills from being voted on. He has a majority. Does he not trust his fellow Republicans? With the ones being suggested in the Senate, he is being an A$$.
With the ones coming from the House, he won't bring them forward just because.

The Democrats need to start yelling from the roof tops which bills have been passed in the House that Moscow Mitch won’t even bring to the floor. I don’t understand why they stand by quietly while the Republicans are always out there telling how the Democrats aren’t getting anything done.

McConnell isn't doing anything that Harry Reid didn't do when the Democrats controlled the Senate. Just before Reid left at the end of 2016 there were almost 400 house passed bills stalled in the senate. This is the game the controlling party plays constantly and it's disgusting. Bring the damn things to a vote and if your party doesn't like the proposed bill, resolution or whatever it will get voted down. We can only hope that the next majority leader, regardless of party affiliation, will finally man up and do the job the way it should be done. Wouldn't it be nice if both parties were done away with and we voted for the person we felt was the best qualified instead of the one with a R or a D behind their name.

Rachel Morris... ”She is a US citizen who was *carrying her passport* when ICE picked her up. They still held her for 32 hours because when they questioned her without a lawyer or guardian present, she gave “inconsistent information.” She is 9 years old. huffpost.com/entry/julia-is… #” Doesn’t this make you proud to be an American? They held and questioned a 9 year old US Citizen for 32 hours without an attorney present. They grabbed her on the way to school. This is the world trump is creating. linkThis is heartbreaking.

I was dropping someone off very early this morning in DC. One block from the White House and I remembered something I should have posted earlier. Tonight, I see that it is day 4 in the Rep. Cummings and Baltimore tweets. So I need to share. There are rats within one block of the White House. The rodent kind. You know, as in the city blocks surrounding the White House are infested with vermin. Well known to be true including mice in the WH, not sure about 4 legged rats there though.

We know Senate Dems + 2 Independents will be a solid No. That means Repubs can afford to lose only 3 votes for a tie. Several Rs don’t seem like they're into him – Rubio, Collins, Paul, and possibly Burr – and some news sites are saying many Rs are lukewarm.

It’s going to get interesting... NPR... ”JUST IN: California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a bill into law that requires presidential and gubernatorial candidates to submit their most recent five years of tax returns in order to qualify for primary ballots in the state.” "Three legal veterans on Tuesday backed newly signed state legislation that would require President Donald Trump, and any other presidential candidate, to disclose their income tax returns in order to appear on California’s 2020 ballot. Boies Schiller Flexner chairman David Boies; Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher partner Theodore Boutrous Jr.; and UC Berkeley School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky all supplied short opinions asserting the constitutionality of the new law in a media release from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office. The new law “does not keep any candidate from being on the ballot so long as he or she complies with a simple requirement that is meant to provide California voters crucial information,” Chemerinsky wrote. “This is the state acting to make sure that its voters have information that might be very important to them when they cast their ballots as to who they want to be President of the United States.” Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for Trump, said in a statement that “the State of California’s attempt to circumvent the Constitution will be answered in court.” Boutrous and Chemerinsky are outspoken critics of the Trump administration, writing and speaking regularly about what they and other observers contend are violations of norms and the rule of law. In January, Boies delivered a speech in New York in which he said Trump had made statements about federal judges that undermined the independence of the judiciary. Chemerinsky told The Recorder he was contacted by a representative from the governor’s office about opining on the constitutionality of the new state law. “I would gladly defend this law in court, though the state has its attorney general to do that,” Chemerinsky said. Boies said the Constitution gives states authority to decide how their electors are chosen. “No other constitutional provision is implicated or violated by a state’s requirement that a Presidential candidate disclose tax returns,” Boies said in his statement. “Moreover, California, which permits electors to be chosen by popular vote, has an important interest in insuring that its voters are informed.”" www.law.com/therecorder/2019/07/30/boies-boutrous-and-chemerinsky-back-californias-squeeze-on-trumps-tax-returns/

linkSomeone is not going to be happy.. The Cathedral.. “Have We No Decency? A Response to President Trump”“The escalation of racialized rhetoric from the President of the United States has evoked responses from all sides of the political spectrum. On one side, African American leaders have led the way in rightfully expressing outrage. On the other, those aligned with the President seek to downplay the racial overtones of his attacks, or remain silent. As faith leaders who serve at Washington National Cathedral ¬– the sacred space where America gathers at moments of national significance – we feel compelled to ask: After two years of President Trump’s words and actions, when will Americans have enough? As Americans, we have had such moments before, and as a people we have acted. Events of the last week call to mind a similarly dark period in our history: “Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. … You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?” That was U.S. Army attorney Joseph Welch on June 9, 1954, when he confronted Senator Joseph McCarthy before a live television audience, effectively ending McCarthy’s notorious hold on the nation. Until then, under the guise of ridding the country of Communist infiltration, McCarthy had free rein to say and do whatever he wished. With unbridled speech, he stoked the fears of an anxious nation with lies; destroyed the careers of countless Americans; and bullied into submissive silence anyone who dared criticize him. In retrospect, it’s clear that Welch’s question was directed less toward McCarthy and more to the nation as a whole. Had Americans had enough? Where was our sense of decency? We have come to accept a level of insult and abuse in political discourse that violates each person’s sacred identity as a child of God. We have come to accept as normal a steady stream of language and accusations coming from the highest office in the land that plays to racist elements in society. This week, President Trump crossed another threshold. Not only did he insult a leader in the fight for racial justice and equality for all persons; not only did he savage the nations from which immigrants to this country have come; but now he has condemned the residents of an entire American city. Where will he go from here? Make no mistake about it, words matter. And, Mr. Trump’s words are dangerous. These words are more than a “dog-whistle.” When such violent dehumanizing words come from the President of the United States, they are a clarion call, and give cover, to white supremacists who consider people of color a sub-human “infestation” in America. They serve as a call to action from those people to keep America great by ridding it of such infestation. Violent words lead to violent actions. When does silence become complicity? What will it take for us all to say, with one voice, that we have had enough? The question is less about the president’s sense of decency, but of ours. As leaders of faith who believe in the sacredness of every single human being, the time for silence is over. We must boldly stand witness against the bigotry, hatred, intolerance, and xenophobia that is hurled at us, especially when it comes from the highest offices of this nation. We must say that this will not be tolerated. To stay silent in the face of such rhetoric is for us to tacitly condone the violence of these words. We are compelled to take every opportunity to oppose the indecency and dehumanization that is racism, whether it comes to us through words or actions. There is another moment in our history worth recalling. On January 21, 2017, Washington National Cathedral hosted an interfaith national prayer service, a sacred tradition to honor the peaceful transfer of political power. We prayed for the President and his young Administration to have “wisdom and grace in the exercise of their duties that they may serve all people of this nation, and promote the dignity and freedom of every person.” That remains our prayer today for us all.”

Moscow Mitch will "allow" 2 of the Rs to vote against him so it looks good to their constituents, but at the end of the day they are all more scared of Trump than they are concerned about the safety of our country. If any of the R Senators had announced their retirements (as some of the Congressmen have), I could see them maybe having enough votes to stop whomever Trump puts in place to cover his crimes. But since that hasn't happened, he will be confirmed. Party over country, always. Unless your country is Russia, in which case Russia comes first.

This is what the SNAP cuts do to NJ! ** More than 1 in 11 New Jerseyans now receiving food stamps could lose those benefits because the federal government says they make too much money. About 68,000 residents could be thrown off the program under President Donald Trump’s administration to cut the program’s costs, according to the state’s Department of Human Services. There were 695,964 food stamp recipients in New Jersey as of April, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. ** As it did in trying to roll back parts of the Affordable Care Act after Congress failed to repeal the law, the Trump administration moved ahead after Congress rejected House GOP efforts to make changes to the food stamp program that would have taken benefits away from 35,000 New Jersey residents. “What Trump can’t get through Congress they’re doing administratively,” said Ray Castro, health policy director for New Jersey Policy Perspective, a progressive research group. Castro likened this latest proposal to the Republican tax law, where the Trump administration targeted only some states when it capped the federal deduction for state and local taxes. “This is an incredibly cruel policy,” Castro said. “They just don’t care. All they care about is saving the money to pay for the tax cuts.”The reductions would cost the state $33 million, according to the Department of Human Services. There’s also an economic hit, because that $33 million won’t be spent buying food in New Jersey grocery stores. And if families no longer qualify for food stamps, their children won’t qualify for free school breakfasts and lunches, Castro said.Almost 268,000 children in the state received free or reduced-price meals during the 2017-18 school year, according to the Food Research and Action Center, an advocacy group trying to end poverty-related hunger. ** www.nj.com/politics/2019/07/heres-how-many-new-jerseyans-would-lose-food-stamps-under-trump-proposal.html

Answer: <crickets> so in truth, it's not the fact that Obama DID things, it's WHAT he was doing. Because they're perfectly a-okay with executive orders and administrative branch legislating, as long as it fits with their horrible agenda.

CNBCRand Paul 11/2017... CNBC “Rand Paul: ‘I plan to vote for the Senate tax bill’ despite problems”Rand Paul today.. ”Both parties have deserted – have absolutely and utterly deserted – America and show no care and no understanding and no sympathy for the burden of debt they are leaving the taxpayers, the young, the next generation, and the future of our country. ” Rand PaulOnly the dimest of the dim didn’t understand the tax cut was going to add to the debt. My guess Paul still supports the tax cuts but is pissed programs for the middle class and poor aren’t being cut to neutralize the tax cut for the rich. If I’m not mistaken, Kentucky has one of the worst economies in the US. So a lot of folks in the state would be are being or would be hurt if programs are cut pay for the tax cut like Rand wants. I would think the folks of Kentucky deserve better than Rand and Moscow Mitch.
