Sometimes, I think just going to bed and thinking oh I hope I can sleep, then worrying about that is enough to stress me out and not be able to sleep.

@bergdorfblonde oh dear, how did you injure your eye socket? I hope it will Beal okay with all the eye trauma you've had. How is your dh doing? I continue to keep you both tucked up in my thoughts. Thanks so much!! It was hurting enormously, so I knew that something was going on. It's not normal to have a barf bucket by your bedside. My surgeon felt it and noticed the bone was broken/separated. I didn't fall or get hurt and I'm not too physical these days, but it might have happened during the initial 8+ hour fitting for my prossthesis. That was a very painful, awful day. Felt like a football team was punching my eye that day. Ugh. I left there with an ice bag on the way home. It might have happened then. Not sure... I suppose I'll find out on Wednesday when I see my surgeon about what to do.. Hoping for the best!! Thanks again for asking. Hope all is well with you. (As far as DH goes, he's in the midst of another bad infection and no antibiotics are working so far. He did get a referral for a Urology Surgeon in Tampa, but I'd have to be the one driving him, so we had to cancel his first appointment. We'll get it done. I called to see if they have a closer office so I could be able to drive there!) edie3 That's exactly how DH feels with sleep. I got him into a good sleep pattern for about a week and that was it (dark, cold room, fresh clothes and I tucked him in and reinforced that he should stay in bed for 6-8 hours). It worked.. I hope that you find something that helps you sleep! I know that with DH it's hopeless for me to try to keep him in bed.

Sometimes, I think just going to bed and thinking oh I hope I can sleep, then worrying about that is enough to stress me out and not be able to sleep. I have been there and done that. I found the meditation of lying there and relaxing each body part helped the most with that. I just start at my feet and focus on relaxing on foot then the other next I move up to my calves, thighs, hips, etc. I try to focus on the task at hand so my head won't wander. It did take some time for me to get it down. Now I only do it if I think I might have trouble sleeping.

I take Ambien because I take another medication that keeps me from sleeping. The first few nights, I didn't MOVE all night - I would fall asleep the second my head hit the pillow and sleep so soundly that I would wake in the same position.
My only problem has been getting it filled! Apparently, CVS has a policy of only filling 15 pills for 25 days. They told me it was a State law, but that turns was incorrect, and it wasn't my insurance either. It turned out to just be a CVS thing. Between this and not having other medications in stock, CVS is driving me, one prescription at a time, to a local pharmacy (which I would prefer all the time but can't use if I want insurance to pay anything).

I take Ambien every night, and have for many years. I don't sleep at all if I don't. I don't have any after effects in the morning at all. Most days I can sleep until whenever I wake naturally, but there are times that I have to set an alarm, sometimes as little as 4 hours after taking it, and I still wake up fine. I do try to wait to take it until right before I get in bed, otherwise I do apparently get strangely chatty I've been told, and it will take much longer to fall asleep if I stay up for quite a while after taking it. I get in bed and read, and usually fall asleep within about 15 mins I think.
