No judgment at all. If the products are up your alley or make you happy, there's never anything wrong with that! Are you thinking of that Netflix movie with Vanessa Hudgens? She was a baker from Chicago (totally inaccurate scenes from Chicago, btw) who switched places with a princess/royalty who looked exactly like her by going to this televised baking competition. And she met a prince/royalty of some kind along the way and the princess fell in love with her business partner. It was a really bad movie. I don't even know if I finished it, but clearly I remember the synopsis. YES! That's the one. It was terrible. But I love the idea of a bingo game as we watch them, sounds kind of fun! I made and shared some Hallmark holiday romance bingo cards a couple of years back. The tropes are soooooo bad they're good. I've watched so many so many times I can practically set my watch by them. (Kiss around 1:30 means someone is hiding something big, betrayal coming. Proper kiss, it must be 1:58). I'd be happy to share my bingo cards again if anyone wants to play along. They work well for Hallmark but not so much for the relatively more action-packed (snort) Netflix holiday romances. For example, there's no square for a wolf attack (Netflix's A Christmas Prince), but plenty for Santa is actually real, ice-skating, slipping and falling leading to a romantic moment, interrupted kiss, fake European royalty, decorating together, and someone learns to love Christmas again. My friends and I brainstormed so many tropes. It was great fun. BTW A Christmas Prince is back with number 3, a royal baby is on the way... lol. Of course. Should be terrible!! Now if I could just remember the name of a holiday movie I saw coming that actually looked good - it was British and that's about all I can recall. A girl working at a Christmas shop? Looked like it was a bit more dramatic, I think she had a rough life. They advertised on IG a while back. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I've had a break from scrapbooking and thought there is no better way to return than with a December daily and all the hype that goes along with it. So happy the refugees are still around, I forgot how much I missed it. I ordered some of AE's but not the main kit just albums, the mini-kit and some other bits, I am not tired as some of you are of the AE aesthetic as I haven't been around to see it. Looking forward to all the fun and excitement! I love her kit this year (I hadn’t loved the last few) so I’m super excited.. DD is my favourite project of the year. Are you in the DD group- we love the hype in there 😄

Thanks for the welcome guys, I just joined the AE facebook group and everyone is super excited which is kinda nice because none of my friends will be interested at all. I love the DD project and did drop it for a couple of years and just did it in my project life but it's not the same. You can't put your project life albums all on the coffee table! I also am going through a divorce and crafting was just hard for me for a long while but I am back and it feels right to be back. I may even print the years I've missed and do a simple version of DD for them, that sounds like crazy talk.

joblackford I'd love to see your Hallmark bingo cards, if it's not too much trouble. No trouble at all. Hallmark holiday romance bingo cards are here (google drive link). They're PDFs that you should be able to print. Anyone is welcome to check them out, feel free to share the link. They're pretty silly, but they were fun to make (using an online bingo card generator - so handy!)

for anyone that prints out digital journal cards what kind of paper do you print on? I just use smooth white cardstock and print using the "photo" setting on my printer for richer colours.

I just received my first 2019 Christmas goodies in the mail. I'm being a lot more selective about what I'm ordering this year as I do already have a pretty big stash. But I couldn't resist the Kaisercraft Peppermint Kisses line: www.kaisercraft.com.au/collections/kaisercraft-peppermint-kisses-collection. It is soooo nice! The detailing on the 6x6 paper pad in particular is really lovely. Though I know that there is too much pink for many of you, for me it's just perfect

Forgot to ask my question.... for anyone that prints out digital journal cards what kind of paper do you print on? If I'm not planning on adding any additional hand journalling after printing then I use Canon Matte photo paper. The colour reproduction is almost spot on. But the matte photo paper kills pens. I think it sucks all of the moisture out of them?
If I am going to do additional journalling then I use a white cardstock around 80lb. Either Neenah cardstock or a generic brand that I get quite cheaply at a big chain craft store here (in Australia).

Forgot to ask my question.... for anyone that prints out digital journal cards what kind of paper do you print on? I get mine printed at Office Max/Office Depot. I choose their 'cardstock 110 llb' paper. If I pick them up, then they are .60/sheet. I will use photoshop and cram as much on one page as I can. For me, the color quality is just so much better than if I printed them myself. I also get transparencies made there (they are more lightweight than Ali's though).

Does scrapbook.com ever have a better shipping offer than free off $55? I missed that one because I could not put $55 in my cart. I just want the Simple Stories album and a couple other things. Hoping that the Simple Stories lines stay on sale.
I've been waiting for the Pinkfresh to come out so that I can get it all at once.

I bought an album from Ali. I didn't even buy a stamp and you know I'm a stamper! Instead, I bought Steven Duncan's Merry Christmas line. I tend to use digital templates to journal on so I don't need any 3x4 cards to write on. To me, the Ali kit just wasn't cohesive. The Merry Christmas line is white (and not cream), so it all jumped into my cart. I'm looking forward to a cute album using something that actually made me smile when I looked at it. The only thing I liked about Ali's DD kit was the white plastic numbers. I can easily cut those with my Cameo. Thanks so much for liking the line. It reminds me of my childhood growing up. Christmas was the time of year that my whole family showed up, my granddad dressed up as Santa for the kids and my Mom and Dad would get dressed up in their party clothes. Good to know about the white vs. cream. My stuff is mostly retro so cream is usually my go-to background (to make it look vintage) but we went with white on this line. Take care!

OMG I'm so excited. Got my order of Steven Duncan Merry Christmas from scrapbook.com today. I bought all the things🤗...couldn't help myself. It's SO awesome. lol Completely reminds me of my grandparents and parents, when I was a tiny little kid. I love it. Can't wait to use it. I'm so glad that you like it! I was thinking of my grandparents and parents when I designed it. This was Christmastime for me when I was a kid. I grew up in Los Angeles and we'd go downtown stores to see all the Christmas decorations. Take care!

If I journal on matte paper, I use a gel pen. It's nice and inky black and doesn't die from the matte-ness, ha.

I love Ali. I've long been a supporter and yay for a successful businesswoman.
But what the heck is going on in that Facebook group? It's like they're all on drugs or something. A woman posted this morning, "I challenge everyone to post on their personal FB page about DD and what it does to preserve memories for years to come! Add the DD link to Ali's page and see if we can't get more people to commit to creating memories!"
First of all, it's paper and stickers. Second of all, there are over 11,000 people in the group. I think it's good.
I love my stack of albums as much as the next guy but wow.

Sure, those closest to me know I scrapbook. But those that aren't in my inner circle don't need to know what group I am in. Or where I hang out online. I don't give two f*cks if they preserve their memories. I do it for me and my family. Period. I don't want to be the one who gets bombarded with 'when you're done with yours, will you document mine'? Np, no I won't document your memories for you.

Who is fan-girling that Steven Duncan is posting in our thread?
I have paper so good I won't even cut it. I bought an entire pack of just one design once so I would have lots of it. I don't think I would have gotten into this hobby if it weren't for his work.
Thank you!!!

I'm doing 2 albums this year. A "traditional" December Daily and a December Memories album. I'm going to use it in the second album. This is the first year with no grandparents or parents (my mum passed unexpectedly on 26 June). I'm going to use the collection to make an album of all the special holiday memories of my grandparents and parents throughout the years. It's the perfect collection. I also like that it's geared more towards city living. A lot of the holiday collections are much more country and not everyone lives in the middle of nowhere. lol Thank you so much for such great designs. :-)

I usually print at home, but thought I'd give Staples a try just for fun. We don't have Office Max/Depot here, so Staples was my only option. If I print at home I usually use Neenah 80lb. Cathy Zielske recommended it, and I figured she would know that kind of thing.

janamke No judging or shaming in this thread! You can buy as much or as little as you want, you can go all out or be a hyper minimalist, you can do a full DD or just a few LOs, etc. Any kind of scrappy December love is encouraged! For anyone wondering, Simple Stories announced Layle's departure on social media earlier this year. They thanked her profusely and noted that she was leaving to spend more time with her family. There doesn't seem to be any bad blood or drama. I am surprised she didn't stick with them for her kits though. Yes, that's a shame. I like much of their aesthetic and she seemed like an intelligent rep, so it's too bad they couldn't get it together somehow. The "time w/family" is used a lot as a reason when someone leaves something. I take it w/a grain of salt.
