yourself?
I have a high school ring. I wish I had a college ring but I don't. The grad year is 1987 so it's not like I can get one now.
My DD graduated from college last year and my son is graduating next year. I'm thinking about getting a Josten school ring from one or both schools. I have my birthstone in my high school ring and while I really like the design of the ring, I've never like it because of the stone color (topaz). With a new ring from one of their schools I can pick the color I want (I don't care for either of my kid's birthstones so that's a miss).
Is this fun or just kind of crazy??

A little weird. And don't think you can't get a college ring later. I know at my alma mater, Texas A&M, you can get then anytime

I would search first to see if you can get a ring for your college. You may still be able to get one, whether with your graduation date, no date, or go with an outside seller to customize the way you’d like it.
But, yes, I think it’s strange to get one for a school you haven’t attended.

Yea, it's a little weird. I mean, people don't even wear their HS rings when they get older. Let alone a college ring.

I will admit I think it is a LOT weird. And you are inviting conversations with people who assume you are an alumni at that school.

Some one may be able to replace the stone in your high school ring if the only thing you don't like about it is the stone color.

I would have to say I think it is a little weird too. I never see anyone wearing a high school/college ring. I only wore my high school ring for a few months.
But, if it will make you happy, go for it!

I believe you can change the stone later. I know my dad did.
I think it is weird to get one from your child's school unless it is also your alma mater.

You can ask Josten's about replacing the stone in your high school ring. They do ring repairs so they may be able to help you www.jostens.com/helpmenu/repairsandreturns/Or if you know what company did your ring you could contact them about stone replacement.

You can get one that represents your own college graduation. I'm sure Jostens or whatever company would be happy to sell you one.
I can't relate to wanting a college ring from a school I didn't go to. Heck I went to a total of 5 colleges and universities and I don't have a ring from any of them.

Definitely weird IMO but I don't know of anyone who wears a high school or university ring from their own alma mater let alone their kids. Not something that is done around here

Don't go through Josten's as they are expensive. Get one from Walmart. You can put whatever university/college and dates you want on it. The rings are good quality.

I equate those types of rings as being for the students/graduates who attended the school.

Sorry, but I personally would see it as misrepresenting yourself, kind of a lie. If you want a college ring then get one that represents the college you attended. Guess this sounds a little harsh, but the truth. Around here the big thing is the Aggie ring. It is very distinct and is worn no matter old long ago you graduated. If you wore one without graduating from that school, you would be called out on it.

It’s not something I would spend money on. I would rather buy a non-school related ring with a gemstone(s) of my preference. But I do not care for school rings.
If you want one, do it!

I think it’s a bit weird and agree with those suggesting updating your HS ring or ordering one from your college.
I know not many people wear there college rings for long after their graduation but my teeny, tiny university in rural Nova Scotia is well known for its distinctive “X” ring and the ceremony that bestows the ring on the Feast of St Francis Xavier. Literally on the day freshman are dropped off on campus there are pictures with signs saying “1217 days (or whatever number it really is) until X ring.” In fact, even to order one as a graduating senior you need a certificate proving that you qualify for graduation. Our alumni are very proud and nearly everyone wears their rings for a lifetime.
The only people besides graduates that get to wear a ring are those who are bestowed an honorary ring for their commitment to the school and the Xavieran spirit.
There is an old wives tale that says the X ring is something like the 4th most recognized ring in the world after the engineers ring, the papal ring and the super bowl ring lol.
I was in the Dominican in April and ran into another X ring wearer - it is an instant conversation starter...we usually point to the ring and say “what year?”

I think it’s weird. But I also think it’s strange for someone to wear a high school or college ring more than a few years after they graduated.

Definitely weird IMO but I don't know of anyone who wears a high school or university ring from their own alma mater let alone their kids. Not something that is done around here I agree. Last year my son Noticed that some of the parents of his teammates had the same college ring. They all went to a catholic college and apparently the rings are a big thing there. Seemed a little cultish to me.

I looked online and I can get one from Balfour for my graduation year, a long time ago. LOL
Damn things sure got expensive over the years. Mine is long gone, lost when my parents moved. I think if it gives you a sense of fulfilling something for you then it’s worth looking into, getting one to represent your school experience.
I don’t know that I would choose one from a school I didn’t go to though.

Just a tad bit weird. That is me being nice.
Jostens and other places like it want your money. They will gladly make a ring for you from your college and year, even if it was 30 years ago.

I don't think any other Canadian university attaches any where near the significance to the ring that St FX does. My dd goes to Queens, her and her friends and any alumni that I know friends have zero interest in a ring. The jackets called (GPA's)and bars are a different story thought and are kept forever.

Before you decide, there are, today, 14,412 class rings on eBay. Your college and year might be there.

Weird and really you should be only wearing t-shirts that say “college” mom or stuff from your own college.
I usually only wear my college t-shirts around my husband’s older brother... it bugs the shit out of him, that my husband has a masters degree and I have a bachelors degree plus our kids are both college graduates.

I’m googling to see what an x ring looks like. But not finding it.

My dad has worn his college ring since graduation.
The only person I know who wears a ring from a school he didn’t attend as a student is my BIL and that’s because he was a coach at the school and it’s a championship ring.
