I personally wouldn’t take my cats out of the house for every showing. That would totally stress them out and you. My friend recently sold his house even though he had six cats roaming about. Sounds like your realtor has a significant issue with cats but that doesn’t mean everybody does. Would she make you put a dog away too? Anyway, I’m sorry you’re going through such stress. Selling a house is always a pain in the ass. I hope you get a quick sale and can move on with your life.

if you crate/pen your kitties during showings, you can get a privacy monitor screen to cover your computer if you are worried about people seeing what is on the screen. Staples sells them, as probably office supply stores do. Not sure what to tell you about phone call though. Hope you get a quick offer and can more along quickly. I think there is probably an issue with accessing private info on a public network. I know I cannot access some student info systems on public networks although I can from home.

Have you looked for a cat rescue who can help? Sometimes they will help you with a situation where you want to keep your pet but are facing challenges.
My DD fosters cats and recently had one who needed temporary care while his family home was being renovated. The family had a low budget for temporary housing, and the only places they could find said no pets. DD kept their kitty for a little over a month until their house was done, and it didn’t cost them anything.
Maybe you could give them a donation far less than the $500 you would need for boarding?

I have been sitting in the truck just stalking my house I have learned a lot. 1. Early birds. Yesterdays 3pm showing showed up at 230. Luckily I was leaving already. 2. I call them late comers - but they fall within the hour window they reserve. You just don't know when they are coming so you can spend up to an hour sitting waiting for them 3. talkers - they come and check out the house in 10 min and then spend 30 chatting in the driveway 4. People who take longer than their allotted times: People reserve time slots anywhere from 15 min to 1 hour and 15 min. I literally sat in the car for 90 minutes for that last one. The 15 min ones Ive already decided its going to take 30 despite the 15 min time window. Mostly they book back to back appointments Like yesterday was 3-4pm then I had a 4-5pm and a 4:30-5:30pm. So there is no really going back depending on how long they stay. It just isn't worth getting out, unloading, only to pack everyone up again. So far the crate thing seemed to work yesterday. I was able to get things done while being out of the house and that helped my stress level. I don't have a showing it'll 5pm tonight. I got some sleep, went to a movie, got groceries and paid bills. Today I have a thing this morning and then Im sitting down and beating the daylights out of my billing for the week. I appreciate all the help and talking through of this. I think we have found something that works yay!

You sound more upbeat this morning! I’m glad that the crates worked well yesterday. Hopefully, at least one of those appointments will make an offer on your house soon. (((Hugs)))

Ha! You should put in some webcams. Then you could really stalk your house. Just kidding, but wouldn't it be fun for any of us to see & hear what happens during a showing?

Yay for the peas making suggestions that worked 👍🏻 You sound like this has helped; it’s amazing how sometimes just a little change can make a huge difference. I’m so pleased & hope this is the start of a better week. Hang in there, not long now. 🤞 for an offer soon.

I'm so glad that you were able to work something out that suits you and your cats. Selling is extremely stressful, we have our house on the market at the moment and it is doing my head in!
I hope you get a quick sale and can then move knowing it is all tied up.

Still no offers, average about 2-3 showings per day. Cats had an all day vet appointment (whole different story ending in multiple medications, special food and kidney monitoring for the next 6 months) so I went to the library and knocked out some work. The roof was inspected and I was told it was going to be 7000+ to replace and that my insurance wouldn't cover it. Called insurance anyway and they sent out an inspector yesterday. They are covering the entire thing. Despite the age, the wind and hail damage was more prevalent apparently so they will take care of it. Whew. I figured out a way I can move and NOT tow my care behind a 15 foot U-haul. That was a big stress factor as towing and I are not compatible with good mental health. Best news is I move on time. I pull out of the driveway with the cats and my lola on the 17th. I am really looking forward to driving her across the country. I adore my car and we do not spend enough time together. It is going to be an INSANE week starting today but it will all get done and hopefully by the 19th or 20th I can post that Im home Forgot to add the fence is being done today!! YAY!

Yes, it’s only a couple of hours on a plane (fairly cheap fares too) so we’ll probably pop over & he’s hoping to come home for Christmas etc but doesn’t have confirmed term dates yet so hasn’t made firm plans.

How are you doing today, scrappinspidey2? Lots of showing is better than none at all, but how frustrating in the meantime. Luckily im not dealing with that-they aren’t selling the house until we move out. But the piles I have around the house! Ugh. I’ll send DH to Goodwill with a bunch of stuff and then I’ll feel better. It’s so much work moving!

Good news about the fence installation and insurance covering a new roof. I hope you and yours have safe travels and an offer comes through soon so you can rest easy. Positive vibes for you, stargazer and basket1lady for your relocating.

Any chance you'd like to vlog on the trip? I'd love to 'see' such a road trip, it sounds awesome! You could post a pic at each stop with some detail, like country, city, etc, as to where you are. I for one would be riveted! Marcy
