Hopefully it doesn’t apply to Mac

I have been reading up on this issue as well. I've been on the search for a new laptop and with the new Windows 10 issue, I'm holding off on that purchase. I can't replace both Cameo and Laptop at the same time. It makes me sad that my original Cameo could become obsolete when it works just fine. But it's the same issue with my laptop. It's old but it works and is no longer able to be upgraded with the newer software. I just feel my laptop is on borrowed time.
If anyone is having the compatibility issue, I read that a workaround is to use an older USB hub between the PC and Cameo. The problem is the compatibility between a USB 3.0 port and the Cameo USB 1.0 port. (If I understood correctly.)

Ugh...should really test mine out before I forget about this. I rarely use my Cameo these days, but I'd hate to forget about this issue and then not be able to figure out why it's not cutting one day.

It’s reportedly the older machines. I hope I am understanding correctly that it should not affect the Cameo 2 or 3.

Yep, so I now have a perfectly good machine that is now useless because my computer won't recognise it. My understanding is that it's only an issue for hardware that relies on generic windows drivers in order to operate (which the Silhouette does). Pretty frustrating.

Thank you for posting this, and for the suggestion given on the hub. I will have to check this all out.

I went through every step of this twice and got nothing. Both of my computers only HAVE USB3.0 ports though which is obviously now a problem.

I think there is a way to undo recent computer updates and go back to a previous version.

You may want to try using a USB 2.0 Hub that some found worked as usually most USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible to USB 2.0 and typically USB 2.0 was backward compatible to 1.0 so the machine may work with the USB 2.0 hub. I managed to find another workaround so I thought I would share here in case it works for anyone else. My (brand new) laptop has no USB ports, only thunderbolt ports. Using a USB-Thunderbolt adaptor and plugging into the thunderbolt port works. So I'm able to connect to my laptop. But the downside is that the Silhouette software doesn't display well on my super high-res laptop

I hope I am understanding correctly that it should not affect the Cameo 2 or 3. Nope. Only the original Cameo and the original Portrait. Silhouette is working on it. Hopefully they have a good solution. It is Microsofts update that causes the issues. It's not only Silhouette machines. It can affect some printers and some external hard drives - which could really be an issue if you have an older external drive tucked away, and find that you can't access it anymore!
