Thursdays will be special during Sketchtember!
We will be offering two sketches, each with 2 interpretations (we hope, so far so good ) by me and by LisaDV ! You will also get two twists, one associated with each sketch. *** you only need to complete one of the two to "finish" Sketchtember and get the 50 point month bonus.
However, we thought bonus points were in order for our two-fer Thursday!
You can complete one sketch for 1 point.
If you complete the sketch and associated twist you get 5 points.
If you complete one sketch with both twists, you get 7 points. If you complete both sketches with 1 twist each you get 15 points If you complete both sketches with BOTH twists each you get 20 points!
Ready, set...
LisaDV has created this lovely sketch, with the twist of using VELLUM
There is also an 8x11 version in the 2Peas gallery (if you click on the one above, it will take you to the gallery)
And her LO with it:
This is my take on her sketch using vellum circles to matte some photos, and ribbon (which is my twist for my sketch)
kitbop has stolen this lovely sketch, with the twist of using RIBBON, TWINE or FABRIC
My take on it, using Doodlebug gold dot vellum for the left side triangle, and ric rac ribbon. Short story here: DD was with me as I scrapped, and kept commenting that the layout needed MORE, she didn't like the "plain" triangles. I think I finally placated her by fussy cutting elements out of the pp and pop-dotting them on the corresponding paper, just for dimension! Still, the layout turned out much busier than I intended overall, and I blame her
LisaDV s take on the sketch (love it! love the ribbon!)
We hope you enjoy the many choices and find lots of scrapping time in your future!

You two sure do know how to make it tough on a slap-dash grab-glue & go scrapper like me, don't you? Oh well, these are supposed to be CHALLENGES. I tried laying out the first page last night but nothing seemed to work. But I woke up this morning and simply flipped over the first triangle to get the solid side and was able to put these pages out of their misery on my counter... just for Fun by Gramma Dee, on Flickr POINTS: two pages created and shared (4). #1 Sketchtember #5 (1) with the ribbon twist (1) bonus (5), #4 outdoors (2), #6 ddil's photos (2), #7 five uncut 4x6's (5), #15 PL card (1), #21 (1), #47 ribbon (2), #53 rectangles (2), #54 squares (2), #55 doodle border around title (1), #57 bright colours (2), #67 4 metal pieces (4), #77 triangles (2), #80 stripes (2), #95 love those dgk's! (2). Total: 41 I seriously DO want to come back to your circle sketch, LisaDV , when I have more time. Maybe combine it with cristelina 's #14 Grab Five challenge to cut some circles out of scraps or painted pieces.

What fun sketches! I will think on them. I actually have very similar 8th grade continuation pictures that I have not scrapbooked yet.

okay - both of these were seriously challenging to me. I did a card for the circle sketch and I love how it turned out. Not sure if I like the layout I did for the triangle sketch - but it's done. Both have ribbon and vellum quotes.

But I wanted to add for the circle layout. If I saw that and was trying to go quickly or had photos I didn't want to cut into circles, I'd just add a square or rectangle photo on top of the circle elements or maybe where the journaling is. I'd use the circles for just pp and embellishing.

linda - I *love* the look of the trains! I think it adds a real "machine" vibe to the page, combined with "traffic sign" feel and directionality!

I don't mind admitting I really struggled with this page design, it's well outside my comfort zone and this is actually my third attempt to make it work for me. In the end I realised I didn't like all the patterns, I considered just using one pattern and following the cuts, but kind of liked the effect of this pp and just filled in some of the lines to mimic the cuts.

@chinagrl828, I think that’s a perfect way to make the sketch work for you. I love the pp and your stars sprinkled throughout your clusters.

Chinagirl828, that's quite brilliant! I love the colours, the sole pop of red. grammadee - I struggled so hard to find photos that would fit into triangles. I really should have tried angling them like you did It's so obvious and looks great!

Chinagirl828, using that pattern in. The background was a brilliant solution! Love the white on white with the pop of black and red in the photo matting!

Can someone please clarify the twists for me? The way I read it, the twist for sketch #1 is ribbon, the twist for sketch #2 is ribbon, fabric or twine. Am I wrong? Thanks!

This is how I read it the first time. But going back and rereading there are 2 highlighted text that says LisaDv used the twist of vellum on the first and next highlighted section say kitbop used rib or, twine or I forget 3rd option for the second twist. Perhaps OP can put it on the top si it's clear and up front.

I read the twists as vellum for the page with the circles, and ribbon/twine/fabric for the design with the triangles. If you use both twists on the same layout you earn additional points.

Linda I love the idea of turning the circles into a card, yours looks great. I image the triangles must have been challenging on an 8.5x11 page but I really like how it turned out. Your colours are great and the neutral ribbon looks fab.

I cut a bunch of circles and tried to arrange them, but they had a mind of their own. Finished project doesn't look much like the sketch, but it started that way. Back 2 School I'll be back to leave comments in a few minutes.

Here is my take on sketch #1. My circles were ovals as they were cut from a larger photo of my nursing class. I did use the twist, though you can't see it in the photo (there are vellum circles behind some of the photos). Wish I could figure out how to get my photos bigger. Need to work on that. Also had 395 of journaling! Point total on this baby: 29.

Linda , that was a great idea to make the first sketch into a card. Very nice! The other sketch was just made for your two locomotives. Very classy page. You make it look so easy. Dictionary , those circles are a great way to use lots of photos of Disney that a further away and the people are small. This is such a pretty page with the bright colors. I love your list journaling on the red tag! zella, I really like the looks of the ovals in place of the circles. That's a great way to document your graduation. Lots and lots of wonderful journaling. You deserve all those points!

When I first saw this one, I said, "Nope, not even going to try. But then I found a bunch of extra photos that I had already scrapped a 2 pager with and decided to play around with it a little.

My take on the second sketch. I really liked the idea of the background, but I was having a hard time making it work. So, I decided to go tone on tone with a cut file and I liked that result. I was not able to work in the twists, dang! But still a page done.

Here is my take on the first sketch. I didn't do the twist, but I am pleased with the end result. Thanks for the inspiration!
