I'm getting bad results with a new type of ink pad (to me) and thought I'd see if the Peas have any advice.
I bought one of The Stamp Market's new ink pads and am having trouble getting it to stamp well. Their new ink pads are dye based but with a foam pad, like the Stampin' Up or Catherine Pooler inks (I don't have either of these brands, but this is what I've learned online). This is supposed to have multiple benefits, including better solid images, something I've always struggled with. (The videos I've seen featuring this ink do have very solid results.) I was incredibly excited about this new ink but I've been disappointed with the results. I've done some googling and research and this is what I've tried out:
I've used a foam pad underneath my paper to provide a soft surface
Prior to stamping, I've tried priming the clear stamps by rubbing them on my arm, going over them with a white eraser or using VersaMark first. (Using VersaMark ink did result in my best impression, but still not as solid as I'd like.)
Many sources have said that you have to use a lighter touch when inking your stamps with these pads, so I've tried varying levels of force when inking up the stamps.
Here's a picture of my various stamping efforts. None of these results are really what I would consider to be a "solid" stamped image, which was the main appeal of this ink for me. The ink seems to bead up on the surface of the solid stamp after inking. What say the Peas? Am I being too picky in my interpretation of "solid"? Has anyone else had this issue with a foam ink pad? I'd love any words of wisdom from the Peas!
