am I the last person to try these? I was at (Au) Sephora the last week and in the mood to buy stuff, these beauty blenders where in several places around the shop so I grabbed one. They are $30 here, so not cheap. I remember using those little latex triangles to put on make-up in the 80s and wasn't that impressed with them so I've been ignoring all these little egg shaped sponges. I've been using it for a few days now and OMG my make-up looks so smooth and perfect! I've used it with regular foundation and with my BB cream and love how it looks when I'm done. I use it wet as recommended and I'm really impressed by how well it works. I guess everyone has already been using them and I'm the last one?? (and why has no-one told me??) Seriously though, have you tried them? do you love them as much as I do?

I have been using a beauty blender sponge for a few years now. I love how it applies my foundation. It was a bit of trial and error for me at first, as I was swiping it instead of dabbing it and was getting streaks. I wasn't getting the sponge wet enough either.
I've watched a few foundation application tutorials. What works best for me, is a light all over dabbing, then let my skin absorb the foundation, then do another light all over(or where needed) dabbing.
I like the mini beauty blender also. Works great for applying under eye cover up. I also use the mini to apply my bye bye redness cream.
I have tried a couple of the other brands, but they didn't work as well for me.

I’ve been a fan for several years. I use to use the Sigma F80 foundation brush which is still amazing for applying foundation. But when these sponges came out it was a total game changer. Love how smooth foundation and baking is after applying. I have several of the colors but prefer the black one. Enjoy!

I've watched a few foundation application tutorials That's what I did too - when I bought it I wasn't even aware that you were supposed to wet it. I tried it dry as well just to see the difference, but wet is definitely better!

Took a bit of practice, but love the results. The mini is great for Bye Bye Undereye by IT Cosmetics.

I buy the cheaper version by Real Techniques brand. I love it...if you spray a little setting spray on the sponge to wet it instead of using water before you blend foundation it will make your foundation last longer. Here is a pic of the RT one I use.

Yes, you might be the last They’re great aren’t they? I have the orange one also, but I prefer the shape of the original. Like the case the orange one came in though, keep meaning to see if the BB will fit in it.

I also use the orange one, much cheaper and just as good in my opinion. It really has been a game changer!

I also use the orange one. I used the real Beauty Blenders for a while and loved them but wanted to replace them often enough that I decided to give one of the cheaper alternatives a shot. I am just as happy with this one, for less than 1/3 the price of the original BB.

Good to know about the Real Techniques brand! I just looked and they sell it here too, and it's currently on sale for $12 so I'll definitely pick one of those up when I'm out and about tomorrow...thanks.
How often are you replacing them?

Yeah, I was going to say, don't forget to wash them regularly.
I replace mine when it starts to fall apart.

I bought one (orange one) last fall and used it a bit. I did like the way it worked, but it felt like it was dirty to me after one use. I tried washing it with micellular (sorry I am spelling it wrong LOL) water, makeup remover, soap, etc and it just felt grimy to me.
How do you clean it? And how often?

I started using the pink one this past spring. I use tinted moisturizer over my sunscreen, no foundation. Love it better than my foundation brush, fingers, and any other blender I've ever tried. Yes, it's $, but it washes out easily and still looks and behaves like new.

And though I don't use the Beautyblender sponge anymore, I do use their cleanser. I opt for the bar because it doesn't count against my liquids when I travel. You should replace the sponges at least every three months. www.glamour.com/story/how-to-clean-beauty-blender-makeup-sponge

This is timely - I just listened to a podcast that featured the inventor. Her background and how she came up with it, including the pink color is interesting. Highly recommend listening- Natch Beaut . I have had the cheaper versions and needed a new one. After listening to this I want to support the creator so bought a black one at Ulta yesterday. I am interested in trying her foundation and other products now too.

I just remember saturating it with the micellular water and squeezing and rinsing and the never ending stream of makeup muddy water that squeezed out of it. Just made me doubt it would ever be clean. So I threw it away. Ewwwww The article is great. I also followed the rabbit hole to this one Maybe I'll try again. Perhaps I didn't know it had to be wetted first and that is what drew foundation into it. I never thought to cut it open, but I'm sure my cleaning method would have resulted in a thorough saturation of the little blob. Do yall wet it then squeeze it drier before use? Run a little water over it and blot it on a towel? Maybe I'll try it again.

I then squeeze really well then put it in a bathtowel and squeeze again so it's just slightly wet. Then apply my tinted moisturizer. When done I swirl it in the bar of soap next to the sink, mush it up really well, then squeeze it out. I'll do that a couple of times until the water runs clear, then again squeeze it in a dry towel to soak up excess water, then let it air dry. I just looked in my Sephora orders. I bought mine in early May, it still looks and behaves like brand new. I don't wear makeup every day though.

I've never tried one. I got a knockoff in a gift with purchase bag or in a subscription box once but wasn't impressed with it at all. I wasn't willing to pay for an authentic one so I don't know how I'd have liked it. Normally I use loose mineral powder or pressed powder foundation. But, I got a foundation brush attachment in my Clairsonic face cleaner gift set and holy crap! That thing makes my cheap L'oreal True Match foundation from the grocery store look airbrushed. The Beauty Blender would have to top that to impress me.

Hmmm, raises hand meekly, no, you are not the last one...You can tell who never watches makeup tutorials, huh? Come sit next to me! You are right, I almost never watch make-up tutorials...usually only if I have a new product (like the BB) and I want some tips on how to use it. Come to think of it the only ones I've ever watched they used a brush for foundation and I spent a good few $ on a MAC foundation brush several years ago and didn't like using it at all. That's probably why I ignored the sponge for so long. I did watch a couple after I first got the BB, one with Jeffree Star...he's a trip - I can't decide if he's funny/eccentric and I like him or if he's media whore/narcissist and I dislike him

Do yall wet it then squeeze it drier before use? Run a little water over it and blot it on a towel? Yes...I would never have thought to wet it on my own, only after googling it did I realise that's what you were supposed to do. Then dab (or they call it 'bounce") the foundation into your skin, don't swipe the blender. As for drying I have a sunny window sill in my bathroom and I've been sitting it there after rinsing and it feels quite dry in the afternoon when I squeeze it, oh and I may have just ordered one of these so the air circulates properly:

I love the Eco Tools green blender sponge. I have tons of them and usually buy a bunch when they are buy 1 get 1 50% off at Ulta. I clean them when I have a bunch dirty (I only use them once and then give them a wash). I also have a bunch of the mini ones from ULTA and Real Techniques. I like the Eco tools one because it has a flat edge too if I want to bake my jaw line or under eyes.

I feel the same way about JS! He is always involved in drama in the makeup community on YT yet I can’t get enough of him lol. Tati on YT is a really good guru and product reviewer.

I have a bag of these I bought from Ali Express to use for ink blending. Very cheap. Under $1. I haven't thought of using one for foundation. Guess I should poke around on Utube.
My computer is being a brat so I don't have a link but I remember going to Ali and searching makeup sponge.

The creator, Rea Ann Silva, says the only "wrong way" to use it is dry. Instructions didn't come with my first one which was a copycat so I didn't know to wet it. Makes a big difference!

I swear by them. It took me a long time to believe they could actually be worth the money and I tried several other brands. I don't know that I really believe they're "worth" $20 (US) each, but I do believe they works better than any other for me, so I buy them. They put out a holiday set every year that is a good value. There are 4 sponges and 4 solid soaps for $65 (US). It's available at Sephora and on their website that I know of.

Yes the different colors have a bit of a different texture. The pink is the basic, a bit more porous. The black is the pro, it’s smoother. The blue and I think the teal one too, are cooling.
