Can someone please tell me what Tom says to the Princess after the parade? They reference it later but that’s when I took a potty break. He didn't know she was the Princess and he spoke a bit openly about how his politics didn't quite align with the Grantham's, but he'd adjusted and said they were a good family. She asked if he'd ever considered leaving DA and he said he'd tried once but he'd realized DA was his daughter's home and it was where she belonged, and having her grow up there was the right thing to do.
That was the gist of the conversation.

Thank you. That makes the scene with the Princess' husband at the end make a lot more sense.

Don't all fall over each other applying Fans of the hit TV series Downton Abbey are to be given the opportunity to “live like the lord or lady of a stately home” and stay in the castle where the show was filmed.
To mark the release of the Downton Abbey film, the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon have posted their residence of Highclere Castle in Hampshire on the Airbnb booking website.
The advert invites two guests to stay in one of the house’s 300 rooms on 26 November and be “treated like royalty”. For the price of £150, the couple will join the earl and countess for evening cocktails in the saloon followed by a traditional dinner in the state dining room, waited on by the castle’s own butler. After dinner, coffee will be served in the library before the guests retire to one of the principal bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom and views over 400 hectares (1,000 acres) of rolling parkland.
“Throughout the stay, Lord and Lady Carnarvon will immerse the guests in the rich history and heritage of Highclere Castle with a private tour of the castle, the Highclere estate,” the advert says.
While the room is listed as coming with a hairdryer and shampoo, it will not have wifi or a TV. Reservations open at noon on 1 October and applicants are expected to have a record of good reviews from their previous Airbnb bookings. Applicants need to show they are “passionate about Downton Abbey” in the message they include when requesting the reservation and the most creative submission will be chosen.
“It’s an absolute privilege and pleasure to call Highclere Castle my home and I am delighted to be able to share it on Airbnb for a truly unique stay,” wrote Lady Carnarvon in the advert. “Highclere Castle has been in the Carnarvon family since 1679 and has an incredibly rich history. I am passionate about the stories and heritage of Highclere Castle, and I am looking forward to welcoming our future guests.” link

It was great...exceeded my expectations. It was a huge crowd here...filled three of the screening rooms. Lots dressed up in twenties outfits. DH wore his tux. Some guys showed up in kilts. Tea and scones were served in the lobby. I don’t think it’s for someone who doesn’t know the characters. Lady Violet had fantastic lines delivered perfectly...the audience loved them. Photography was stunning. Had a little bit of intrigue, romance and comedy.

We kept saying the man who played the king’s dresser looked so familiar. It was Prince Robert from The Royals...one of the best TV series ever!

I just got back from seeing the movie. I teared up a bit at the end. Such a lovely movie. Also, everyone clapped after the movie. I do hope they come out with another one soon.

Does the movie stand alone or will I have had to watch the series to understand it? The previews look beautiful and for some reason I feel like seeing the movie, but I know absolutely nothing about the series. I had a friend who loved it and didn't watch the series. It is a sweet gentle movie, not a big drama.. so if you like that kind of thing you will enjoy it.

Me! Going Sunday as well with girlfriends. My friend is hosting a tea beforehand so I was just doing a little baking-savory ginger rosemary squares.

Just got back from it. I LOVED it. It was everything I thought it would be. The only criticism I would have, is the opening. I loved it, yes, but I expected the opening like the tv shows. so was a bit disappointed there.

Just saw it today. My biggest annoyance were the number of people that forgot Thomas’ storyline existed and huffed and puffed and “of course they had to throw this in there” several times in the movie. So I huffed and puffed out loud whenever a man and a woman would kiss. 😂

I saw it last night and LOVED it! I loved it so much. I went with a friend and several of her other friends.
I had never watched the tv show. All I knew going in was that a couple Crawley family members died aboard the Titanic and that the family's finances were not as stable afterward.
I was able to figure out most of the relationships and who was who. Obviously I was missing A LOT of backstory, but it all made sense and was just fun to watch. I'm already planning to go see it again.
I plan to start watching the tv show soon - gotta find it somewhere.

I saw it tonight. I expected more. To prepare for the movie, I rewatched season 5&6, so the movie was a bit of a let down. After thinking, about it how can a movie ever compare to 8-10 episodes. We need movie part 2.

Friends invited us to meet them this afternoon to see it. We looked up showtimes and it's not even playing at the cinema here! Ten damn screening rooms and they can't offer this in at least one?
We're still going but having to turn it into a road trip to see it somewhere that's not showing every stupid slash' em or bash 'em movie instead.

We saw it last night. It was delightful. It lacked some of the depth that the series had but was enjoyably cheesy and fun. They left it all wide open for another movie and I hope there is another.

I teared up a bit seeing his face when he was in that dance hall. He was never one of my favorite characters but I loved seeing him so happy.

I am torn on his character, but I loved seeing that scene as well.

Just saw it with 7 friends- we all really liked it. I think I should have rewatched the last season-it all came back to me, but I would have not spent that time working it out during the movie.

I wanted to watch it once more ☹ Also mad to learn that Amazon Canada is different than US but did I really expect any better? There are random episodes occasionally on a PBS channel.
