I don't want to brag, but dh is having Indian food for dinner and that means he'll eat half at lunch and half at dinner. So, I have the day off, again. Maybe empty nesting isn't so bad, afterall.
What's on your menu?
Question of the day: At a dessert buffet which would you choose, cake or pie? I would always choose pie. Pecan pie is pure heaven. I'm not a cake fan.
Please have a delightful day.

Well it's Tuesday so that means tacos. LOL
I would choose pie also, strawberry rhubarb being my favourite but I can't think of any kind I would turn down.

I am making butter chicken from a new spice mix I found at the Asian grocery (which is conveniently near the school where I work now). It smells amazing, so hopefully tastes as good.
I got some bad news from my doctor this morning. My right knee has been hurting and siezing up recently, so he sent me for an MRI last Friday. Unfortunately, it is as I feared (experience from last time this happened, other knee). My meniscus is very badly damaged, and he feels I most likely will need this knee replaced too. He doesn't even need me to come in to see him; just make an appointment with the knee clinic and drop by his surgery to pick up the referral note. I am not worried about the surgery, as my first knee went well, but I am so frustrated and disappointed that I have just started this after school care job, and now I will need to take medical time off. They have to keep the job available, so that's not a concern, but I feel like I am letting people down, especially as I know how hard it was for them to find enough native English speakers to cover all the days.
Oh, and I would usually choose pie, except for Black Forest cake, or cheesecake of any sort.

Pie: all day long. Peach pie is my favorite.
I'm meeting with one of my ACT students this evening, so my dinner will be Chick fil A and DH will dine YOYO.
Good wishes going out to dinner friends who need a smile today. A good night's sleep last night banished yesterday's dreary mood. I need my sleep!

We're having......I'm not sure what it will be called. I will take all the bits of stuff that I couldn't throw out and stuck in the freezer and turn them into something. hmm, maybe I'll call my dish, Something. sueg, I'm sorry about your knee. I totally understand the part about feeling like you're letting people down.

I have so much love for a rich chocolate cake with fudge icing and for good cheesecake. I don’t often turn down pie either. If dh was with me we’d each choose a different dessert and share both!
I’m having zucchini noodles with sauce tonight. Dh will cook pasta for himself and the others.

My dessert choice would totally come down to what flavors the pies and cakes were. So I can't give an answer without more info. 😉🎂🥮
Tonight i'm making, or I should say warming up, a concoction I saw on Hungry Girl's Instagram. Trader Joe's kettle cooked Chicken Soup plus Trader Joe's frozen Cauliflower Gnocchi. Warm up the soup and saute the gnocchi till browned and plop some in the soup bowl. Voila! Fingers crossed it doesn't suck.

It would depend on what exactly was being offered: if it was standard grocery store bakery cake or pie, it would depend on the pie offered. If it were apple, strawberry rhubarb, pumpkin or a cream pie of some sort, I would pick pie over standard cake. If the cake were more exotic, it would win every time. I make pretty good pie myself -- at least, I used to, before celiac and gluten free hit. If cheese cake were available, it would win every time.
Tonight, cheese burgers, roasted potatoes, green salad. Kinda busy here tonight; we've got to deal with tomato deluge!

I would have to take a little of both. A lot depends on what flavors of cake and pie, and whether it’s from the grocery store, a good bakery, or did someone bake it at home? A quality dark chocolate cake with coffee ice cream to slap on top is going to beat any pie, any time, hands down. I found part of our last meat loaf in the freezer, so that will be dinner along with baby zucchini and some form of potatoes. sueg, I’m sorry to hear you need another knee replacement. Wishing you a quick recovery.

DH has a rare business dinner tonight so I am just planning on a tossed salad, with some fruit on the side. I love a night of no cooking! DD is supposed to stop by later to drop off something, but I've learned never to plan meals around her crazy schedule. She can forage in the fridge if she shows up hungry. Question of the day: At a dessert buffet which would you choose, cake or pie? Both! It really depends on the cake or pie on offer. If a pie has meringue on it, it will be a pass from me (unless DH is there to eat the meringue for me). Cheesecake is always a pass because I just don't care for it. Very few cakes that I would pass on though. Now I want dessert! sueg - So sorry to hear about your knee. I would feel the same way about letting the care program down, but you do have to put your own health first in this case. Hopefully you will heal quickly.

Bummer sueg - good wishes for a speedy recovery. Jeez, I am hurting today! We got both our booster pneumonia and flu shots yesterdy, one in each arm. My flu arm is just the normal tender/soreness but the pneumonia arm hurts like he!! Darn thing kept me awake most of the night...really weird. Never had this kind of reaction before. However, got some taco soup gently cooking in the crock pot. We may have a small salad to go along.
ETA: Oh, it would depend on the pie, but usually I'd opt for cake... unless it was homemade apple pie.

I don't like cheesecake, at all. When we used to dine at The Cheesecake Factory I would order Carrot cake. sueg, my sil just had her knee replaced 2 weeks ago. I'm amazed at how well she's doing and how easy her recovery has been, compared to what we expected. I wish the same for you.

I stopped posting and visiting you guys because we’ve been eating out way too much and I was embarrassed But today I’m making semi homemade spaghetti sauce and instead of opening a can of tomatoes, I diced my own from our garden For the question I would say pie since I can’t make pie crust. Well I’ve never really tried, I just think I can’t! Sueg I’m sorry about the knee

sueg - I'm sorry about your knee - I hate to hear that jeremysgirl - that pork/rice bowl looks delicious We are having Spinach Mushroom Quiche for dinner. For the question of the day...it would probably depend on the flavors of cakes and pies that are offered but in general I tend to prefer pie over cake.

Flying back late tonight; I won’t have time to grab something and make my connection in Atlanta, so probably whatever I can scrounge up in the fridge when I get home.
Depending on the flavors, most likely cake and pie lol.

Wellll, I’m looking forward to dinner, but before DH & I decide which restaurant to get takeout from, I have to have a surprize medical procedure....yippeee !!!!! 😡
Ugh, it’s 6 pm and we’re waiiiiting & waiiiiting at the ER and I’m hungryyyyy! I tripped and fell and dislocated my humERus (arm bone that connects to shoulder)...and it is NOT humORous!
After I bribe the nurse to put EXTRA happy juice into my IV, the doc will manually put my humerus back into the socket....FUN !!!! It’s called an “closed reduction”. AFTER I’m home & cozy & (hopefullty!!!) in MUCH less pain, I plan on watching a vid of said reduction.
I’ve seen this procedure on MANY movies & TV shows, and of course, they make it EXTRA dramatic & scary! 😱

So..... it was my son's birthday on Tuesday. On Monday he asked me "Can I have some friends over tomorrow?" Sure, no worries, I said. In *my* mind, "having some friends over tomorrow" means 3 or 4 mates coming over to hang out during the day. To a 15yo boy, however, "having some friends over tomorrow" means 10 - TEN! - boys sleeping over. At least I think it was 10. I kinda lost count after about the 8th one waltzed in. So the easiest way to feed 10 teenage boys is to go get pizza. And the best thing is they can have the leftovers for breakfast.

scrappintoee I hope you’re pain free tonight. That sounds horrible. sueg sorry for your not so good news. I defrosted wedding soup but didn’t eat it. DH made nachos so I had some. I’m 100% cake. I hate pie crust. I only eat filling. My youngest dd has me make pie filling and she eats it in a bowl.
