There are a few songs that can take me back.. but Springsteen by Eric Church takes me back to mid-late 80s. If you know the song, take out the Jeep and put in Mustang (I had a convertible Mustang) then it is almost perfect.. lol
There are a few other songs, but I think this one is on top of my list.. I can't ever turn it off when I catch it..

I’ll Stand By You by the Pretenders instantly takes me back to my freshman year of high school. I had my first boyfriend. We were at his Senior Prom. That was the theme song. They played it about 11 million times. It all felt very romantic. It makes me smile to remember such a sweet evening.

When I was in Junior High and a Freshman I had this boy who was just a friend to me but he wanted it to be more, he gave me Michael Jackson Off The Wall album in front of my classmates and announced our song was Rock With You. I think of him when I hear that song. But we were always just friends.

Forgot to add that while dating my husband (boyfriend at the time) he always sang You Can Do Magic by America, lots of Foreigner and Journey songs. He actually has a wonderful voice.

Go All the Way by the Raspberries. This one was a favorite of another boy friend. ha! Know what was on his mind. Killing me Softly by Roberta Flack. This came on the radio when hanging out with a boyfriend and we both really liked it. In the Midnight Hour by Wilson Pickett. A boyfriend I had use to sing it to me. Running on Empty by Jackson Browne. Crazy life in late sixties dating husband and probably our fist couple of years of living wild and crazy.

Girlfriend by Pebbles makes me laugh. Oh the drama! It came up on an 80's streaming station a few months ago and I took a screen shot and sent it to my high school best friend. We had a good laugh and chat about some old times that brought memories up of. Love Song by the Cure reminds me of mine & DH's earlier days, when we had a song. I guess it still is, 25 years later. All of My Love by Led Zeppelin has terrible memories attached, and I still turn it off. I spent way too much time off & on from ages 15-18 in a sick, dysfunctional relationship. All these years later, that song can bring me right back, and I'm ashamed of the shit I put up with, and the way I behaved at times too.

Anything and everything by Fleetwood Mac! We graduated in 1976, started dating in 1977 and got married in 1978. We listened to them over and over💕

The Eric Clapton song ...it’s late in the evening, she’s wondering what clothes to wear, she puts on her make-up... I think it is called a Beautiful Tonight? That and the Pet Shop Boys version of You Were Always On My Mind. Most 80’s songs take me back to things in high school though. I enjoyed my friends and the good times we had, doesn’t mean I want to go back, just that I have fond memories of those days and most of the good 80’s songs make me think of a person or something that happened in HS.
Singing Clementine at school with my students always makes me think of my sweet grandpa. He used to sing all the verses for us grandkids when we were little, man, we loved hearing him sing. I don’t imagine that is what you meant though!

Dear Mama by 2Pac. My 16 year old DS sat me down in his room and with a red embarrassed face said "listen to this Mum he says what you mean to me".

“Key Largo” by Bernie Higgins.
First true love and I saw “Key Largo” on one of our first dates at our student union theater as part of a Bogart film festival. The song came out that same year, and the lyrics include “We had it all, just like Bogart and Bacall, sailing away to Key Largo.” We used to joke abought sailing away when it came in the radio. I hadn’t thought about the song for YEARS when t came on the radio several years ago. Wow, did that bring a flood of memories back with a sudden vengeance! It will always be tied to him in my mind, but more to a time in my life and that feeling of “new love.”

Mr Brightside reminds me of the night I met my now husband, it was my birthday and I told him that a birthday kiss would be very nice about two minutes after meeting him. This song was playing in the background.

Red Red Wine by UB40 and Karma Chameleon by Boy George take me back to the first boy I was 'in love' with. Careless Whisper by George Michael is one of my favourites from school days. And Sweet and Low was an ancient song that my Grandma used to sing to me, and my Dad sang it in his barber's shop quartet. I loved it. Now I have to choke back tears when I hear it.

Melt With You which was in the movie Valley Girl. My dh and I saw the movie on one of our first dates so that’s the song that is the anthem to the beginnings of our relationship.

ZZ Top Tush. Listening on the way to the skating rink on a Saturday night. Only one of us was 16 at the time, so we all piled in her parents' car and went to the rink, staying for late skate too. We were all so young and innocent, surely did not know what the song meant.

Fast car-Tracey Chapman’s original version Takes me instantly back to a job I had in1988 This is one of my all time fav songs So funny.. I could never stand that song... (just me.. I'm glad it brings you good memories!!).. I hear it and I am like turn the channel hurry!!! lol I am loving all the answers. ... have to say I have never heard a song called Popsicle Toes.... that is quite the interesting title. Some of you mentioned a Chicago song.. the 80s Chicago group with Peter Cetrea brings back memories of my high school crush. There was at least 3 or 4 songs by them. Plus a few when he was on his own... that voice!!

My Sharona makes me think of a boy I used to "go with" at the skating rink when I was in 6th grade. That was one of the songs they always played during the speed skate, and he would hold my hand tight and whip me around the curves because I enjoyed it so much. He was really cute in the 1981 context, looked a lot like an adolescent version of Tom Petty. His name was Keith. Or Kelly. Or Kevin. Maybe Kyle? I can't remember. lol
