I'm ok with the seat being jacked up but my car also sets the radio to driver 1 & 2
Sometimes, dh accidentally hits the reset driver 1/2 button and I end up with his crappy radio presets on driver 1. NO WAY!

First of all, it irks me to get into my car and the display tells me that I am "Driver #2". I don't really use the program that saves mirrors and seat positions. I just push the button and scoot the seat forward.
It's just a pride thing: MY car, so I should be Driver #1!! I don't plan to investigate and fix the issue, I'm just here griping.
And to be honest, I don't check the mirrors, now that I am typing this out.... DBF and I both drive that car. I wonder if he's adjusting the mirrors?
Any way, what are your thoughts and experiences on these saved driver settings?
As explanation-- I drive myself to work, but when we go out (into Kansas City area), DBF knows the area better, so I have him drive. (Plus, I like to just passenger along and relax.) Also, my car is nicer and cleaner, so we take it, rather than his, even if I know the area. So I can relax and be a passenger.
That makes me curious-- do you let/make the dude drive when you go out together?
ETA: rereading this makes me totally identify as this elder griping about not understanding technology.
Switch your keys. He has the #1 key. Now that I've read... Take both keys out of the car. Use one key to unlock the doors using the fob button, not the walk-up and open. See if it changes. If it doesn't, repeat with the other key. The presets are tied to which car is used to unlock the doors with the button. Then they stay that way until the fob unlocks the door again.

Dh's car (the only one w/ saved seat settings) has his settings for both driver 1 and driver 2 I've just never bothered to set one up for me; I drive it when it's last in the drive but never when he's in the car. If he's in the car he drives, he's the world's worst back seat driver, seriously the WORST (worse than his mother, which he says is not possible....I strongly disagree ). One vacation I finally convinced him to take a break and let me drive....it lasted one exit on the highway before I pulled into the nearest gas station and told him either he was staying there or he was driving, I couldn't take the constant nit picking. For the most part ds got his driving hours with me, he couldn't handle his dad in the passenger seat either. What are you doing in my head?? I could have written pretty much all that myself.

my car is too old to have that feature. It wouldn't matter if it did. Even if I was the last one in my car, I still sometimes have to adjust stuff. I'm sitting straighter today or somehow in a different position. Yeah, I know, it's weird. It actually happens less in the Escape than it did in my van.

That reminds me that not much 'works' in my car after an oil change. My husband's cousin works there at husband's uncle's garage. Cousin is on the autism spectrum. He is fascinated by buttons and settings in the vehicles. When I get my car back from maintenance or repair, he's basically reset every pre-set I have in there. It's like a scavenger hunt to find and re-set all my features. A minor annoyance, but one I choose to indulge and find humorous. OMG. Every time I take my car in to get the oil changed or something, they always screw around with the automatic headlight settings! And since I tend to not drive much at night, I don’t notice it until about a week later and think, “Gee, my headlights aren’t very bright...oh, yeah...” It’s just annoying. And potentially dangerous. This has happened to me more than once. And sometimes you’re in a lighted parking lot when you get back in the car and don’t notice the headlights aren’t on until you get out onto a street that doesn’t have much lighting. I hate when they mess with the settings!

I’m driver #1
When we are together Dh always drives. I prefer NOT driving and he prefers to drive so it works perfectly.

I'm driver 1 and my DD is driver 2. I'm way shorter than she is, so there is a big difference.
And mine just has buttons on the driver's door, I don't think it's based on keys for mine. I have to push the button to change it to mine of she's been in there.

I'm sitting straighter today or somehow in a different position. Yeah, I know, it's weird. I wake up taller. I think just going through the day beats me down. Often, I have to adjust the mirror because I'm shorter on my way home.

My dh's truck was the first vehicle we bought with memory seats. He became driver 1 because he was the main driver.
When we bought my previous car, we kept him as driver 1 because he kept resetting my setting by accident. No problem I because driver 3.
Now I have a car that recognizes the key fob and I'm not sure what number I am.

I have a Driver 1 and 2 but in my family it seems like whoever drives it changes the settings and I never know where I am going to end up. My DD is short so when she drives the seat is so close to the wheel I can't get in. DH drives and he readjusts everything. THEN he ALWAYS turns of my lights (they are automatic).. I keep telling him for the love of God, stop turning my lights off. Ugggg...

I have the newest vehicle, we purchased it specifically to help with my back issues and this was one of the options that was a must have for us. There are some days when it just hurts to much to even bend down enough to adjust the seats. His car is almost always only used to get him to and from work, we use mine for everything else. There is more than a foot difference in our height so as you can imagine everything needs to be seriously adjusted each time we switch. I’m Driver #1 even though he uses the car more frequently than I do.
He used to have to drive because we had a bench seat and if I could reach the pedals his knees were at his chest. Then he drove because we only had the one vehicle and I had barely driven so I got anxiety in certain situations behind the wheel. Then he drove because I like doing things in the car, being efficient. Now I drive because it is easiest on my back. One time when he was so rarely the passenger he had fallen asleep while I drove, and jerked awake and put his hands at 10 and 2 thinking he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Now that I am single and I own the car I should be driver #1 but I have no idea how to change it because I'm not techie at all so I'll just be driver #2 I guess I don't let anyone other than ex drive my car ... when we drive somewhere together (which actually happens from time to time) I get him to drive because he is a terrible backseat driver

If your car seats are not suitable for you, I advise you to visit the Zemotor website, there is a wide selection of inexpensive, well-maintained spare parts for cars. I bought in my car two black leather seats in good condition, without cracks. I advise the willows to choose something suitable. This is actually pretty funny. Sharlag, I hope you consider this website!

My husband always drives if we are together. And we almost never go in my car. So I am Driver 1 in my car and he is driver 2. His truck is brand new and I dont think I've driven it so I am not Driver 1 or 2 in it. Pretty much this. I’m driver one, and it really wasn’t hard to set it. I think on mine I set the seats and mirrors where I wanted them and held the Driver 1 button down until it beeped. Boom, done. We take my car if we can get away with it, meaning we don’t need to haul anything or tow anything. I almost never drive when he is with me. He’s so critical of my driving (you’re going too slow, why don’t you use the cruise control, etc.) so the heck with it, he can drive and I will play my word game on my phone! And ditto the new truck, he just traded in the 2016 last week so he’s only driven the current one himself a handful of times. On a related note, with the cell phone pairing, he set that up so his phone would be the default and mine would be the alternate one. That way when he’s driving his is connected automatically and when he’s not with me mine will. The advantage with doing it this way is that when he’s driving I can still look things up on my phone. We have ours set this way, too. It’s pretty convenient. And I agree with the others who say that the car is locking on to the second key fob when you are in the vehicle. If both fobs are always in the car, must be doing something to indicate that you are a different driver. It’s probably because you are adjusting the seats. We only use on fob, regardless of who is driving. We just use the buttons to indicate driver one or driver two for the seat/mirror adjustments.

I am Driver 1 in ‘my’ car, and he’s Driver 2. No problem. It works out fine. The car he drives doesn’t have saved settings.
My only gripe is that he is constantly turning off the climate control. I always have some ventilation coming through— not necessarily full blown heat or air conditioning. Set at a low level so that there is not air rapidly whooshing through the car. He turns it completely off. I forget to check after he’s driven my car and then I wonder why I feel like I am suffocating. He apparently prefers driving this way. When he’s driving and I’m passenger, it’s like being in a hot box and I have to get some air circulating.

DH and I take turns driving when we go out. He probably drives 75-80% of the time, but if he doesn't feel like it, then I'll drive. But if I'm driving, it's in my car and if he's driving, it's his car. He rarely drives my car unless we're on a long trip and taking turns driving legs of the trip. And really the only time I drive his car is if mine is being serviced or something and I need to go somewhere before it's done.
Having said that, now that we're sheltering at home and not driving as much, the cars need to have the oil cycled every week or so. So when one of us needs to go out for something at the store, we check to see which car was driven last and drive the other one (the store is just a mile away). And in that case whichever of us is the person going to the store drives whichever car it is that needs to be driven.
ETA: It would irk me too, if I got in my car and my seat settings were driver #2. I'm driver #2 in DH's car because he's taller than I am and his seat settings are too difficult for me to drive with. My car doesn't have automatic settings, so if he drives my car he tries to make sure to put things back the way I need them when he's done.

That feature is one of the main reasons we got the model we did. I have back issues and we take (took) a lot of car trips. But one of our cars needs repairs we don’t want to make right now so we only use it to drive in our little town, all other driving uses my car, the newer one. Some days I am not able to bend to adjust the seat after DH has been driving so it has been so worth the upgrade. I’m driver 1.
I almost always drive because it is less painful (easier to sit properly holding onto the wheel). For a while we only had a truck with a bench seat so I couldn’t drive, his legs were too long and if I could reach the pedals his knees were in the dashboard. He used to prefer driving, but the past few years he has learned the benefits of being a passenger...you can do anything! My entire life as a passenger I am doing something. If we are yakking, which is what’s typical, I’m often reading. If we are, I, doing paperwork, filing my nails, some sort of craft, playing on the iPad, meal planning, etc. Do you know how much you can get done in an hour on the road? So much!
