"Kitbop's Divas" just doesn't sound right. If you look at my scrapbook layouts, you'll notice a definite trend in my titles towards alliteration. Hence, I've decided that Designing Divas is a better name for us!
How is everyone doing to start off November? Is everyone well? Exciting news, Sad news? We have a new kitten named Hobbes; he joined the family Sunday and the other cats are...displeased...
DH's schedule will change next week and really disrupt our household. He is usually able to shuttle us around, but there is going to be a lot more walking and busing. As the weather gets bad. First world problems!
I've decided to set myself a list, some goals, and really stick to them. Otherwise I'll never crawl down to my scrapspace and take advantage of time. I'm someone who says "I only have half an hour, I'll sit down and read/surf/play" instead of getting something crafty done.
1. Create 40 Christmas Cards 2. Create 5 birthday cards 3. Finish December Daily 2016 4. Collect and print photos Dec. 2018-->Autumn 2019, in order to work on an annual photo calendar for my MIL and Mom
Hope we can all keep in touch in here - the month is gonna fly and suddenly it will be December...

Oh boy, I hope the cats adjust quickly to your new kitty. I hope you share a photo of Hobbes - is he tiger-ish?
I have been puttering the past few days, trying to tidy up from cardtober and take care of some business (like photographing and listing most of my cardtober cards). I have trouble starting sometimes, especially if I have unfinished things hanging over me. I have some projects which I'm not clear on (what kind of cards am I making? what are they for? -> should they say?) and that's blocking me from getting on with making more. But I think I got most of the mess cleaned up today and if I push through tomorrow I should be able to get back on track.
Some of my puttering has been useful stuff. - I played around with the Xmas card swap spreadsheet today and figured out how to do a mail merge on Avery.com to make address labels. I ordered the labels too. - The other day I flagged a bunch of good photos from the past couple of months that I plan to digi-scrap. - I asked my SIL to gather photos of my nephew to share for the year in review photobook I make for him each year. Hopefully she'll get that done early so I don't have to spend all of Thanksgiving working on the book.
I have a few projects lined up for this month - the nephew photobook, catching up on my weekly highlights photobook, photo calendars for gifts, and as many cards as I can be bothered to make. The Caring Hearts card drive has fallen short this year so I'm wondering if I have the energy to make them some more cards (I already donated 125). That should keep me busy! I also need to finish up the Pea swap cards. I think they just need a sentiment and the writing inside. Oops, I guess I should think about cards for my own family and friends too!!

Oooh I love the new name!!
I haven’t set any goals for this month, just gonna play it by ear. I need to get some more backing up done, plus I have a ton of pre-digital photos of my dads that I need to scan. Aaaargh how tedious! But if I wanna scrap ‘em, I gotta scan ‘em!

Hello Designing DIVAs! I like the new name!
I am having a slow scrappy start to the month. Just got home yesterday from a 5 Day road trip to see kids and grandkids. Didn’t even print the photos as I usually do on the way home. Hope to do that tomorrow, as I have a dr appointment in a town with a WalMart.
Need to get cracking on Christmas cards this month. Opened my Christmas cupboard today and got distracted. Played with a couple of left over diecuts and some new product I picked up yesterday. And hope to get my fall album finished.
Created an anniversary card today. Will try to get it posted tomorrow. Need to do a sample for the next Sketchy Saturday.
Looking forward to playing along with you!

We need a picture of the new kitten! I understand the disruption with the other kitties, we brought our puppy home 3 weeks ago and our dogs are not very happy either. I think I’m off to an ok start this month. I saw a challenge to spend/shop - check And a goal challenge, so I will do both of those! I only made 8 cards at my crop Saturday, but I’m in a good card making mood. So I’m going to try to make at least a few each week. Here is our little disrupter - Caliber

I'm someone who says "I only have half an hour, I'll sit down and read/surf/play" instead of getting something crafty done. I was just going to ask how the Peas can craft, do whatever boring life duties we all must do, AND post a ton on this board. I am newly retired and haven't figured out a good system yet.

I hope you share a photo of Hobbes - is he tiger-ish? Yes, please do. I missed out on the cutest little cat up for adoption last week because I was waiting for my husband to come and see Matilda too. I spent all day (well, four hours worth) yesterday making a try-fold for my husband's band. I'll post a photo later. The earliest 20 points for me. My son moved back in with us. He hated his job in catering at a university. He got a new job as an event coordinator at another university. But he lost a bunch of salary, so... back home with us. Best part? He bakes BREAD people. Homemade bread! And he is giving us life lessons. Lesson number one: how to wrap a plate with restaurant grade plastic wrap. He also joins us for trivia night. It's very cute. I will be working on my JYC album this weekend. I have a scrapbooking weekend and I am really looking forward to it. Question: will any of my pages in this book count towards points? or will the whole book be 20 points? I am supposed to start selling on TeachersPayTeachers come December 1st. I'm a bit paranoid that NO ONE will buy anything. I have been and English as a Second Language teacher my whole career. And I was also born in Mexico and cam here when I was four. So my store name will be "Bea Bilingual" (seeing how my first name is Bea). Anyhoo, I haven't created anything yet. Huh. I guess I should be worried about that. No one will buy non-existent content.

So are you designing the pages, putting them together, including spots for journaling and mats for photos? I would say you can claim each PAGE for the number of points it earns according to SIZE. If you are actually creating the BOOK (as in creating a spine and then attaching the pages, etc) that should count for at least 20 points. If you are decorating the cover, that would count the same as one of the pages.

Well, drat! My MOJO just flew out the window...
I used to be able to multi task. But the older I get, the harder it is. I was on a roll this morning, but after a couple of phone calls, and finding some things for dh so HE could start HIS day, I came back to the page I was setting up, and... nada! No ideas, no desire to even get started....
May as well just leave it all behind and get ready for my drive to the dr's appointment. Planning to shop for baking supplies (made a list yesterday) and some Christmas gifts (have a partial list) so I hope my brain is working by the time I get to town...

Planning to shop for baking supplies (made a list yesterday) and some Christmas gifts (have a partial list) Whoa. I bow down to you! Do you have to plan baking supplies because the stores are a long distance away? For me, with costco and multiple big stores nearby, and my well stocked baking cabinet to begin with, I often shop weekly during December for supplies since otherwise I tend to have extra hanging around in January (like baking chocolate, nuts, fruit...) Christmas baking is so expensive, but I love it and send boxes to a few will any of my pages in this book count towards points? I am counting each page of my DD (I'm working on 2016) as a "layout", 6x8. I'll either take 15 points/page, or count points...haven't decided yet. Mine are pretty detailed, clusters and stuff like my normal scrapbooking! Here is our little disrupter - Caliber Great name! Mostly Shepherd? He's gorgeous! We we going to get a new puppy...the farm also has a litter...but DH's work schedule for the next 2 months means the puppy would be alone for long stretches and we don't want to start like that. We may look for a puppy in the spring. But for now: Hobbes. He is from a farm, so is sick with a cold and belly full of worms. His face is yucky, but he'll get better now that we have him in and warm and fed. He is unafraid of anything. Good fit for our busy house! Untitled by kirstendrew, on Flickr The Caring Hearts card drive has fallen short this year so I'm wondering if I have the energy to make them some more cards (I already donated 125 Uh oh, where did you read this? They've always collected so many cards, and I'm such a slow producer, I didn't think my 20 or so cards would be any help. I'd like to see if the Canadian collection is short, I would try to send them some. 125 - WOWOWOWOW!

Awww, Hobbes is such a cutie! And Caliber, what a fluffball! I follow the lady who runs the Caring Hearts card drive and for some reason this year they've just not had the same donations - maybe because they limited donations last year when her niece was sick (? Last year I had 200 ready but then she limited it to 100/person so I donated the rest somewhere else. This year I split between her and Bring Smiles to Seniors.) She extended the donation period by at least a week and I guess there's at least a chance they'll get a lot of last minute donations, but they have a long way to go from the numbers she shared - 3 days ago they had 7,000 of an expected 29,000... The new deadline is Nov 15th. I'm sure they'd be grateful for any contributions. http://instagram.com/p/B4aAWsMAf8O

joblackford I read the link on the card board and it looks like we sign these cards and they are passed out to the seniors, as opposed to being given to the seniors to send/give to family. Is that correct? I could probably spare 50 or so cards. Do they mix them up so I can send multiples of the same card? As we all know by now, I try to make all my cards in multiples I’m just to slow to do it any other way! And do we tuck the envelope inside the card, like they do with Cards For Soldiers?

Hobbes is a perfect name for that little cutie, kitbop ! And Caliber, the disruptor, looks like a very lovable ball of fur, gmcwife1 . Our pup sleeps in the kennel outside, but she is also a barrel of energy. Dh got her an insulated igloo doghouse and she comes out of there in the morning all warm and toasty. She loves playing with our older dog, and he enjoys it for awhile, but then he wants to be let into the garage to get away from her for awhile. And our cats are getting pretty pudgy b/c they don't like to go outside when she is on the loose. I try to get most of my Christmas baking supplies at once b/c our local grocery store doesn't have everything I need, so I take the opportunity to pick up what I can when I am in a bigger centre. I tend to do most of my holiday baking in November, and freeze it, so I can take plates of cookies to pot lucks and other gatherings over the season. My niece's 15 yr old dd wants to come and bake with me on her teacher PD day Friday, so I wanted to be ready for whatever she wants to create. Hope to get some photos of our day. Wow, joblackford , that is an amazing donation of cards! I am sure they will be very much appreciated. cristelina , that DD sounds like quite the project. Good luck with it this upcoming weekend. Can't wait to see it! I printed photos today. Hope I can get a page or two done in the morning while dh is gone for coffee.

Yes, that's right. A quick message and a signature, and yes, they request that you include an envelope, unsealed with each card. They're sorted and sent to rest homes around the country so as far as I know there's no problem with sending multiples - that's what I've sent. I'm sure they'd be thrilled to get 50 more cards! I'm going to try to get off my butt tomorrow and stamp a bunch of simple cards for them. I see all kinds of amazing examples of cards people have sent, but I figure right now they'd rather have more cards, even if they're not very impressive.

that is an amazing donation of cards! I am sure they will be very much appreciated. I made many of the cards by recycling the fronts of cards I received last Christmas. Many of them were handmade cards from the Pea swap. Hopefully no one will be offended that I cut the fronts off to re-use them, but this way they get another life and make another person happy instead of sitting in a box in my basement. I was able to send far more than I would have energy to make from scratch.

I just made 60 cards for them. They are going out tomorrow.

I don't think I'll meet the deadline however. Mail is sloth like in Canada. Wish I'd remembered this cause before now. I'm a dolt.

I posted a reminder thread but I put it on the card board so I don't imagine many people saw it. There's always next year. I'm sure I'll be back here in January talking about how I chopped all the cards I get this year. I use a stitched rectangle die on the flat ones to make them look a bit fancier. I do that with most cards I receive - chop the front off, die cut it down, stick them to a new base and pop them in my donation bin.

What a wonderful way to pass on Christmas joy, joblackford ! I have DRAWERS full of holiday cards I have saved over the years. I might just carve out some time in the new year to upcycle them like this so I can donate them next year. So far, in a a third of the month I had a grand total of 2 pages and one card done by this morning. I started on a CTMH Christmas card kit today. Finished 5 of the 10. Actually more than halfway done b/c the stamping and inkling is finished for the last 5 as well. Doing a few tweeksto the kit design, but not much. Won’t finish them today though. Need to make two kinds of lasagne(one with no tomatoes or gluten) for company for supper. And I should prob spend time with these people after supper.... How is everyone else doing?

Mmmmm, lasagne... You're making me hungry! Oh wait, no, that's partly because it's almost dinnertime, and I should already be making said dinner - oops! But I want to take a moment to celebrate my achievement today I broke down my big project - getting my Pea swap cards ready to mail - into all the tiny steps. I made a list with every step I could think of - get the envelopes out, put the labels into the printer, do a mail merge and print them, etc etc etc to see what exactly was involved in getting to done, and yeah, I had thought I was "almost ready" to mail them but it actually took all day to get through all the steps. But I now have 115 Christmas cards with sentiments on the outside, sentiments on the inside, and a personal message, inside envelopes with address labels and stamps, and all I need to do now is print and add return address labels when they arrive and stick the envelopes closed. YAY!! I used up a bunch of postage stamps that I was sort of hoarding too. All the Christmas and winter stamps leftover from last year, and some lovely other stamps, mostly with peace, love, or magic themes. I love buying postage stamps but I had way too many! I'm really excited to have this project almost wrapped up in early November. I have so many other things to do later this month and I tend to misunderestimate how much time/effort things will take... Not sure the best way to count points on this. I designed and printed a sentiment to add to cards I'd started months ago (I'd done the base with a patterned paper panel in the summer) and I also stamped another sentiment inside - so I'm not sure if you could say I finished 115 cards, or if it's better to count this as several hours of "other crafting." How would you all handle this?

I’m still slowly working on my Christmas cards. I started another group of 12 yesterday. I took Saturday off and went on my first scooter run of this season. Both me and my dog really needed it! A friend asked if I wanted to run with her boy on my team so I had two dogs. It really was even more fun and the boys were fabulous together My boy is the one smiling for the camera
