sorry you're hurting/missing her. It's hard.
Although the TP made me laugh. I often brought toilet paper to my DD in new place when I went for a visit.
I still do sometimes.
My feeling is as a college kid or newly on their own, who wants to spend money on something that literally gets flushed down the toilet? Hell, as an "old lady" and out of school l o n g time person, I still hate the cost of buying TP.
It's become a ongoing joke of sorts... mom, did you bring TP?

Mine both moved out on the same day. It was just plain weird to go from a bustling house to crickets. When they come home (they only live 15 minutes away), the dogs go nuts. I think the dogs miss them even more.
ETA: I had to laugh about the toilet paper. Everyone got them toilet paper. They had over 100 extra rolls in the garage. It seems to be the best Moving Day gift for people.

How nice she will be close by. And yes, be prepared for items to go visit for extended periods of time. DS borrowed my pressure cooker a few months ago. It must be having a swell time at his apartment as he hasn’t brought it home yet. Also, for all that’s holy, DO NOT under any circumstances touch any of your child’s belongings that they have left in your home. I know you pay the mortgage and taxes and utilities. I know it would be great to have that extra room as a craft space. But if you so much as move that dried up high school dance corsage even one inch on the dresser you will be accused of “disowning her” and “making her feel like an orphan”. (Ask me how I know...)

Aw, it's bittersweet, isn't it? Our DD still raids my "Costco" shelving and is happy to have leftovers.

Ummmm.....I'm 48 and just took home a bag full of tp rolls from my Grandpa's place. LOL (He gets it supplied by the place he lives, had extra, and wanted me to take it. It makes him happy to still be able to give something to me.)
OP, how nice that your DD is so close.

Aw, she has 2 homes now. She'll be fine. Lucky girl, and lucky you having her so close. Congratulations to her, and enjoy your space!

I hope the cleaning and settling in went well at her new place today. It's bittersweet to see your children fly the coop. I wish mine were as close as your daughter.

Hugs to you. It is a heartstring pulling time.
Had to laugh because when I was in college, I would go home and "shop" in the storage room all the time plus take the leftovers.

Awwww....I see you posted this a few days ago---how are you doing, Momma Bear? (( hugs )) When my nephews moved out, I felt SO sad for my dear sis-in-law and niece because they moved from Texas to Los Angeles. BOTH of her sweet sons on the same day! (they were in a band and all of them moved to LA, hoping to get into the music "biz", which umm.....didn't happen, but I truly ADMIRE that they and their bandmates tried----annnnd TRIED .... for several years!) A few years later, my sweet niece married an Air Force man and they were stationed near London. My poor sis-in-law was even sadder that NONE of her children were nearby anymore. She'd joke with my niece "I BEGGED you, I PLEADED with you----NOT to fall in love with an Air Force man!!!" (she really WAS joking--of course she was thrilled that her dd fell in love and just wanted her to be happy!) She managed to visit her in London a few times, but it wasn't SO hard on them, since they were/are VERY close. I'll never forget the day I moved out. My best friend, her college roomie and I arranged to share a townhouse, and we were SO excited! My Mom told me if it didn't work out, I was NOT welcome back home. Gee, thanks Mom! (she'd probably been drinking all day, which made her VERY mean!) When they come home (they only live 15 minutes away), the dogs go nuts. I think the dogs miss them even more. Awww.....my sister can totally relate to that! And even before my nephew moved out on his own, when he'd visit from college, their sweet doggie went NUTS !!!!!!!!!!!!! She would always say her son was the dog's "person" , so it was extra sweet when he visited, but SO sad when he left. But if you so much as move that dried up high school dance corsage even one inch on the dresser you will be accused of “disowning her” and “making her feel like an orphan”. (Ask me how I know...) Hee hee....that's funny and cute, and sounds like something my over-dramatic niece might say.

No it wasn't. She got stuck working a ten hour day in Detroit. So things didn't quite go how we planned. She came by Tuesday night she said my shower was better! She visited for an hour than was off to her place. I got to see my grand dog.
