I am no PixScan guru, but it sounds as though the machine either needs to be recalibrated again, or that you should delete that image, start over, and try again. If neither of those solutions work, I would chat with Silhouette support. Another option might be to cut first, stamp second. You have the cut lines already in your software now. Cut however many of the stamp "blanks" from your patterned paper that you want to use, and don't worry about stamping first. Next, use a stamp platform to stamp on a plain piece of paper. Leave the stamp and paper in place, and line up one of the cut out openings over the stamped image, so that the stamped image shows through. Fasten it with magnets or washi tape. Place one of the cut blanks into the hole over the stamped image. Stamp on it. Take the stamped cut out of the hole, and repeat as needed with other blank cut outs. I hope that made sense. I know that i dont need to recalibrate since it accurately cut several items after the flowers I was trying to cut. I tried the flowers on 4 seperate papers and none cut despite starting over new with each one. It is a mystery for sure.

I have the mat calibrated and it cuts just fine, but not today. I stamped on subtly patterned paper which traced just fine. The problem is when I cut, the cut lines aren't anywhere near the stamped image. I have tried it on several papers, making sure it's inserted the correct way. When I tried rotating the waste paper to see if it was an orientation issue the negative image wouldn't even line up with the one on the paper. It's as if it was trying to cut a totally different image from the one I just traced. Any insight from the picscan gurus out there would be appreciated.

A small corner of the finished basement family room, wedged between the computer hutch and the bathroom door. I stamp in the next room standing at my chest freezer and have a large rolling metal rack that I store all stamping/mixed media items on. It's actually an ok setup because I am right next to the slop sink and washer. I stamp while I wait for the next load to be done. Talk about multi tasking!

I have bought most of my dies, many stamps and also ephemera from AX. I have only had problem with a few of the intricate dies and only one that didn't cut at all. I got a refund for that one. At first I didn't like the stamps as they were flimsy, but you get what you pay for. Lately I have bought some more expensive ($2.50 - $3.50 range) stamps and have been very happy with them, especially those labeled Squirrels and Frogs. They are made of heavier material and more detailed than the cheaper stamps. I am on the fence about the ephemera, the book pages are exactly what I wanted but the vellum cutouts sometimes come up around the edges depending on what they are adhered too. The ephemera packs are comparable in price or more expensive than TM. Overall I have been pleased with what I have received and orders placed Jan through Oct arrive within 2-3 weeks. Orders placed during the holidays (ours and theirs) really delay shipping. To save even more money shop through Ebates and when they have sales.

Well, I finally got a response. Super not impressed. They admit there is a problem, but I am to fix it myself. I don’t have the ruler in front of me, but I don’t think the screws are going to be on the top, so I am not sure how to manipulate this. Will look at it tomorrow when I have time. I am hoping I am remembering wrong and the screws are in fact on the top. “I do apologize for the delay, We have had this looked into and from we were able to see is that when the screws were tightened the ruler was at an angle and the fix we have is as follows: Loosen the screws on the lip of the ruler Once the screws are loose align the lip on your mat Once aligned the screws can be tightened “ That fix won’t work on my ruler since it doesnt start to veer until 4” down the ruler. It’s just plain bent.

Does my DD have to get a new license, reregister her car, change car insurance etc in the new state. She will be keeping our address as her permanent one because she is still on our health insurance for one more year. our insurance agent said don’t bother until she finds out if her contract is extended. Her car will be due for inspection midway through her contract but she wont be able to drive it home to be inspected.
I would appreciate some guidance as I have never lived outside our state.

Lots of WRMK tools and embossing folders from various companies in my TM this week, but only a few 6x6 pads.
I came home with:

I’m watching Suzanna Lee’s TM Haul Videos and apparently there is a 1-800 number you can call to inquire whether the item is in stock in a store near you. She always makes sure to read the product locator number. I never tried it but it could be worth a try! I watch the TM videos and write the product numbers down then use the 800 number to see if they have the item at three stores I shop. Just did this an hour ago.

For ephemera, I use CTMH medium organizing boxes and clear envelopes. I have decided, however, to stop bringing ephemera into my SBR room because I just don't want to spend my time organizing it and then going through it to scrap. I don't have anything I really hate dealing with, but just that I have more than I would like. I'm in more of a use it up mode, then add to my stash mode right now. I avoided ephemera until I found TM. Then i got interested in vintage junk journals so thats a whole new pile to organize. We wont even talk about all the magazine clippings I have loosely sorted into ziplock bags. I am proud of how I organized my stamps after I tripled my stash thanks to AX.

I have gotten most of my supplies under control, at least to the point that I can find things easily except for ephemera. It comes in so many sizes. Up until now my trusty PSB worked fine if I purged on occasion. Now that I added ephemera for journals its gotten out of hand. I need a solution that takes up minimal space, is stackable/portable AND is easy to flip through.
My second least favorite to organize is PL cards. I find I won’t use them if I can’t view them easily. Right now they are in pocket pages in binders.
So what is your least favorite item to keep under control?

I have been printing my own ephemera for both print and cuts and for journals. I have an inkjet but wish I also had a laser printer so I didn’t need to seal them or have the ink smear. So I was wondering what kind of printer do you all use and do you have more than one? If I lived in a perfect world I would have a large format inkjet and a laser printer too but I dont have the space.

I just went to TM. Nothing too interesting. I spoke to an employee and she said the truck comes in on Thursday and the merchandise is usually on the shelves later in the day or for sure Friday morning. I’m not sure that’s for every store. Stlouis has about 9 stores altogether. I envy you having so many stores in your area, I have 2 and both are small. Recently the manager said they were told by corporate that the goods have to be on the shelves within 5 hours after receiving them. Since that time my store has been great having everything stocked by Tuesday night unless she isn’t there. Then it’s out by noon on Wednesday. The next closest store hasn't been doing that, they hold merchandise in the stockroom forever. They must be short staffed.

Their initial response was prompt but after I sent the photos I got the “ please wait 2 weeks while our engineers look at the problem” response. What do you suppose the engineers are looking at that they can’t see, and exactly how are they going to solve the problem? Seems to me anyone who has clear vision can see their is a problem, and the best way to fix it is have someone from their warehouse unbox a new ruler, check for themselves that it works then drop it in the mail. Don’t understand the 2 week engineer situation at all. Will you post when you hear back since so far you have had better luck then me? Will do.

I sent pictures too, then received a reply that it would take 2 weeks for an engineer to look at them to “see if anything could be done.” If they write back too bad, so sad, after a freaking month I am going to be pea livid! First off, their response time sucks eggs. Two weeks and several emails from me before they even respond, then I get another two week delay when it is grossly apparent from the pictures there is a problem. I am not an engineer, but I can see that the ruler varies by one .25 inches from one end of the ruler to the other. Not impressed with their handling of this at all. Their initial response was prompt but after I sent the photos I got the “ please wait 2 weeks while our engineers look at the problem” response.

I had a problem with one of Tonic’s products being dried out before I even opened the package and they fixed the problem right away. I would at least give them a chance to screw up before you threaten to do that. It’s my plan B.

Geese... I'm still waiting for the glass media mat that I pre-ordered in January! I'm jealous that you've got the tool set AND the glass mat!! What!?! That's crazy. Can you cancel your pre-order? Or make sure they still have record of it? I pre-ordered both the mat and tool set in January and received the mat at the end of March. Then the tool set came at the beginning of June. pas2 - I had to contact Tonic regarding the removable craft mat. It was stuck to the glass and the non-stick backing ripped when I removed it. They e-mailed me back almost immediately, but it took several emails back and forth for a few days. My advice is to send photos, what the problem is, name, address, and phone number and tell them you want a replacement. I had to send the same info several times (I just kept forwarding my already sent e-mails). I did get a replacement but it took about a week after the final email exchange. ETA: I just looked at the e-mail exchange. I sent the original email 3/30, last email exchanged was 4/10 and I received the new mat 4/16. I wonder what would happen if I told them I would post about it on Tim Holtz’s facebook page? I had a problem with one of Tonic’s products being dried out before I even opened the package and they fixed the problem right away.

I have had 3 crooked rulers and no response from Tonic about it. They are all crooked the same way too, they all veer up quite drastically. The first I thought was a fluke so I just exchanged it without checking, second one was still crooked so I checked the one I had gotten for a gift and it is crooked too. I am mostly disappointed that it has been over a week with no response from Tonic other then the standard email saying they got my email. . Oh no! I was hoping that they had good customer service like I got from Ranger. I did not buy their glass mat, I’m using my old EK Success mat. I tested the media edge tool on 2 glass mats and a brand new self healing sewing mat. It should work on any mat. Even if its laid on a grid line it veers off at a slight angle.

I bought the tool set to use with my old trusty glass mat. I like how the media edge hooks over the edge of the glass mat, but it seems to be bent. I have tried it on all sides of the glass mat an on my cutting mat I use for sewing (which is new). Lo and behold at the 2" mark the whole ruler starts to veer to the right and by 13" it is off by 1/8"! So much for drawing or cutting a straight line. Guess I will be shooting a note off to Tonics customer service since I no longer have the packaging to return to the store I bought it from.

Hey pas2 ...what did you figure out? I ran a print head clean and realignment. I then had to shut everything down and restart because I couldn’t print from my ipad or phonr. That fixed the problem.

Oh no, I missed it! TH is usually among the early birds for the Christmas line releases, isn't he? He usually has quite a bit up for grabs as well with the metal tags, numbers, stamps, dies, etc. And he caters to cardmakers who want to get on with the work early on. I'd guess that would be the obvious July video he was referring to then? So, no news on the new Distress Oxide release then? You can watch the video and no oxide news yet. Wonder if they changed their minds on releasing more colors?
