Gosh I need help!
I am asking the same question we all face every freaking day. I want to come up with some fresh dinner ideas. I did check out aKathy’s thread. What I am looking for is where can I get recipes as well. I would love to know what you Peas do. Is there a website that you use or go to? We don’t use pork/alcohol, other than that we are game.

you can see what is on sale and then plan meals using the items that are on sale.
i look in the fridge and see what i have and think of what i can make with the items i have.
i get recipes coming across my facebook all the time that could give me ideas.
the what's for dinner thread is bound to have lots of ideas.

I find a couple of things I might like to use up from the freezer and then jump on pinterest.

I use Pinterest to save recipes that sound good and don't have a bunch of obscure ingredients. I have been trying to go through my pins to try a few. We loved this beef & broccoli recipe: link

I use Pinterest. I will search for recipes using whatever meat I want to cook with. I will do this over the weekend, and then pin them twice - once in my Dinner Ideas board but I also have a board called 'dinners this week'. The dinners this week board gets all the pins deleted after I have used them and I start over every week.

I tend to use a few favourite every day recipe books. Not fancy complicated things just staples with a twist, or a new version of something, along side some standard choices we like.

I used Home Chef and Hello Fresh for awhile to get out of a cooking rut. I know that Hello Fresh posts their recipes on their site. You might get some inspiration there. There is a link to recipes on the bottom of their homepage. Or here: www.hellofresh.com/recipes/

I use pinterest as well. I will note that I usually search for something like, "Quick weeknight dinners" because my family seems to be ravenous right when I come home. Then around Thursday or Friday, I look at that folder and see what our schedule looks like...pick out a few meals and add the ingredients to my shopping list. Do you own an instant pot? Game changer for me. I made One Skillet Chicken w/ Lemon Garlic Sauce a few nights ago And I made Potato Soup in the Instant Pot yesterday. It was good.

I have quite a few cookbooks I actually use as well as family recipes passed down and internet searches from allrecipes and pinterest. We have family favorites that are in rotation, but often try new recipes too.

My DH makes dinner most nights although he does ask for input. Usually he has a few things pulled out of the freezer to choose from, last night he had pork chops and a steak thawed out so it was one of those two things. He chose to make the steak since I didn’t care either way. Tonight he will cook up the pork chops since they are also thawed out. If he’s cooking on the grill, I usually take care of making the sides in the house, usually frozen vegetables in the microwave. Most of what he cooks is straight up grilled, no sauces or roasting or any of that. Sometimes we’ll make something in the Instant Pot or we’ll have some kind of pasta. We get our beef a side or a quarter at a time so we usually have a freezer full of stuff to choose from. The problem is it’s all frozen solid so the decision of what to make has to be made a day or two in advance to give whatever it is a chance to thaw out first. Right now we also have venison and most of a pig in our freezer too, and probably some packaged chicken from Costco as well. He’s in a league one night a week so DD and I are on our own those nights. Since she’s kind of picky and I don’t want to cook for myself, we usually do easy things those nights like IP Starbucks copycat egg bites, pancakes, waffles, canned soup, cheese bread or stuff like that. Some nights all she wants is a can of Spaghettios. Whatever, it’s fine with me one night a week. I don’t have to eat it. The other night she wanted that and so I had a bowl of cereal with milk. Easy and minimal dishes, so I’m not about to complain.

I usually purchase the main protein from what is on sale at either the grocery store or butcher's shop.
I have been cooking since I've been 8 years old (3-gen home) and have many cookbooks. I rarely use the internet to get recipes to cook.

I typically go by whatever is in the freezer (which is mostly what I find on sale here and there at the grocery store). This time of year I also have lots of soups/sauces ready-made in the freezer too, so that helps. My absolute favorite website for when I can't decide what to make is Budget Bytes.

I first think about what flavors/textures I'm craving. If nothing really jumps out, I go to a blog called Half Baked Harvest. It comes through in a Bloglovin' digest on Sunday with a week of meals, along with other stuff. I peruse that Sunday morning over coffee and pin stuff that interests me. I like this blog because she uses flavors and ingredients that appeal to me, and the recipes aren't overly fiddly. She also has recipes for Instant Pot.

This is the #1 reason why we signed up for Blue Apron.
Meant to only keep it for 6 mos.
It's been 3.5 years.
Still loving getting some variety and ideas every week or two.

I use recipes from the dinner thread. Great ideas there, if I do say so myself. I also watch food network and have a subscription to America's Test Kitchen. Their recipes never fail. I use my mother's recipes and my mil's, too. There are lots of places to get inspiration. Baking is my therapy and I use recipes from my mother and mil, because both women were wonderful bakers.

One thing I did years ago is create a Word document of favorite meals. I have the meal ideas grouped by protein type.
It has our family favorites and on some recipes I tag out what specific items I need on hand to make it.
So for instance under Ground Beef I list everything from albondigas soup (Mexican meatball soup), to spaghetti to Korean beef. All those three I know what I need to have on hand to make, but it's a memory jar 'okay I've got the veggies for the soup, I'll make that"
Under Pork tenderloin, I do the same, but for a specific pork tenderloin recipe we love I tag out that I'll need snow peas/Chile sauce and red peppers to make it.
This helps me a lot when meal planning, I usually have a copy handy in the kitchen. Its easy to scan and reference if I'm stuck for dinner.
Another thing I love is I follow a Homemade Mexican food group on Facebook. People are always sharing what they are having for dinner and it's stuff I would cook, as that's our style of eating. Someone posts that they are having 'fideo con queso and frijoles on the side' gets me thinking 'ah that's a good idea!' You all probably have no idea what that is, lol. You can find a group of cooks that are similar to your tastes, your region of cooking or ethnicity. I hope I'm making sense. Find YOUR comfort food and look for your group.

I love cooking almost as much as I love scrapbooking...so I am often on the lookout for recipes.
My latest fave is a YouTube named Lisa, her channel is Downshiftolgy. She appeals to me because she meal preps, but in a different kind of way. She also has a website/blog.
I am a fan of skinny taste, food network and budget bytes also.
you can do an internet search...ground beef recipes for example, and it will take you to many recipes and food bloggers.
I do have quite a stash of cookbooks also, but most often take the easy route and look online.

Even for those of us that love to cook, the daily drudge of making dinner every night gets old quickly. I have a rough plan for the week and am lucky to have a family that loves leftovers. DD is heating a tortilla right now to use leftover Korean beef taco meat from Saturday night for her breakfast. My plan is to mix up protein and starches for the week so it might look like this one week: - Day 1 beef + rice
- Day 2 chicken + pasta
- Day 3 pork + potatoes
- Day 4 fish + rice
And this the next: - Day 1 chicken + tortillas
- Day 2 fish + pasta
- Day 3 beef + buns
- Day 4 lentils + potatoes
Beef + rice can be anything from a Chinese or Thai flavored vegetable heavy stir-fry to Mediterranean flavored stuffed vegetables. Chicken + pasta could be a lemon/garlic broth with spinach & asparagus or a baked cacciatore or skillet puttanesca. Pork + potatoes might be a pork tenderloin with roast potatoes & vegetables or ground pork in a unstuffed cabbage roll casserole. Fish + rice might be an Indian flavored kedgeree or simple grilled salmon & vegetables with steamed rice. I have a chalkboard in the kitchen and write the next four meals I'm making so I don't get irritated by the "what's for dinner?" question. Right now it says Korean tacos, burgers, pasta chicken lemon artichoke and roast vegetables quinoa, so I'm halfway through. At least one night will be leftovers and cleaning out the fridge and I'll start thinking about the next four meals before grocery shopping. If I'm looking for something different, I do a Pinterest or Google search with my ingredients, flip through a cookbook or magazine. Although I might roast or bake something that takes a bit more time, I really gravitate to fast cooking meals so grill and saute a lot. I haven't touched the crockpot in 4-5 years and don't own an IP. ETA I've used so many recipes from Damn Delicious that I often check her out first when looking for new ideas.

We do try to make something on Sunday to have leftovers for several days, but sometimes, it just doesn’t happen, like yhis week.
Good luck.

This is how I work as well, but I'm guessing in Morocco things are different? I get a lot of recipes from taste of home magazine, they have a website as well. We do have grocery stores here that have packaged meat BUT most people still go to individual butchers. Lots of times I have to finish picking the quills out of the leg pieces we get! We do buy several cuts at once and freeze it, but I have to have an idea what to tell my husband to get. Also so we tend to buy most of our vegetables from “souks”...think small farmers markets. So a lot of the dishes will be based on what is in season. There are a couple of special stores that will sell produce that is not in season but it is CRAZY expensive. The upside to this though is the flavor. Not going to lie....the food here is freaking fantastic because so much of what is used (spices, meat, vegetables) are local. The canned aisle is not very big in the stores, so again, I often have to find a way to accommodate recipes based on that. Not such a bad thing, but it can often add a time factor to the recipe.

It's the most stressful part of my day, coming up with dinner ideas! Mine too, sister. Add to that a healthy dose of grocery store anxiety and I am a subscription box junkee. I get 3-4 Home Chef meals a week. It really helps.

Each Thursday I plan my Menu Saturday thru the next Friday. I have a planner that I write everything in. That way I can look back and see what I have had and copy it if I want. I also have around 1300 cookbooks and Love Pinterest so there is no lack of ideas for me!
