MSNBC..
“Sen. Collins has become the second Republican to criticize Senate Majority Leader McConnell for saying he is coordinating with the White House.”
And just like the other senator “criticizing” McConnell she will fall in line with what Moscow Mitch decides like a good little Republican. Even though it’s not what’s best for this country.

”Just Security obtained unredacted Trump admin emails about withholding Ukraine military aid.
"What is clear is that it all came down to the president and what he wanted; no one else appears to have supported his position."
“Schumer: "The ... unredacted emails are a devastating blow to Sen. McConnell's push to have a trial without the documents and witnesses we’ve requested. These emails further expose the serious concerns raised by Trump administration officials about ... the president's decision."

Greg Sargent...
“New emails obtained by @k8brannen show concerns about legality, propriety and consequences of Trump's freezing of aid ran deeper than we thought.
Sham trial & quick acquittal carries their own risks. More could come out later, revealing depths of coverup:”
If the Republicans Senators were smart, they would have the full trial, witnesses and documents, the whole enchilada. Either trump is acquitted based on the evidence or he is not. If he isn’t acquitted then he goes. And this still leaves time for the a Republicans to put up a candidate to run for President.
If trump is acquitted, based on the evidence presented and I mean all evidence and not evidence cherrypicked by trump/McConnell then the Republicans can make a case that this impeachment was indeed a witch hunt.
But the Republicans won’t support a full honest trial because I’m pretty sure they know the outcome and that’s trump is guilty and they want to keep the current status quo. Even if they are turning their backs on the rule of law.

I really don't think the average American really cares about the deficit. It's not like we all get a special tax bill with our share of the cost to pay it off. Until something directly affects us we usually don't care all that much. Well they better start understanding what happens with a deficit and how it does affect us individually. A while back the Chairman of the Fed told Congress that this country can’t keep carrying this debt because it could and will limit what the Federal Government can do during the next recession to soften the blow for the American People. And we all know it’s not “if” there is another recession but “when” there is another recession. I remember all away back to when Nixon was president and he gave a televised speech about how the Fed had to cut spending on projects. The country went into a recession. During the Great Recession the government stepped in with the stimulus package, bailing out the auto industry, the banks and extending unemployment benefits. Just think what would have happened if none of that had been done? In California a lot of progressives were angry with a Jerry Brown because he insisted there be a “rainy day fund” in the budget instead of spending the money on progressive programs. It’s a good thing there was the “rainy day fund” because a large chunk of that money was used to pay some of the expenses associated with fighting the wildfires that have swept through the state these last couple of years.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but I still stand by my comment that the average person does not care until it directly affects them. Doesn't matter what the subject is either. For now all we hear on the news is how strong the stock market is and the economy. Now being in the Ag field I don't necessarily agree, but I'm sure other non Ag peas would agree that the economy is great.

I’m not disagreeing with your comment either. I’m just saying these folks need to pay attention or they may find themselves living in a country not to their liking or anyone’s liking for that matter. Because it will suck..

Notices are going out. Because they have filed for DACA the government has all their info including fingerprints, photos etc, which make them easier to find then those who didn't file....... What a mess!BY NOLAN RAPPAPORT, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR — 12/29/19 12:00 PM ESTDeportation proceedings now being reopenedZoila Pelayo, who has been a DACA participant since 2012, recently received notice that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has sought reopening of her removal proceedings. And this is just the beginning. ICE has informed CNN that every DACA recipient whose deportation case was administratively closed can expect to see his or her proceeding reopened. ** What information does the Department of Homeland Security have on DACA participants? The DACA application, Form I-821D, required identity documents that have the applicant’s photo on them, such as a driver’s license or passport — and the application process required a Biometric Services Appointment at which fingerprints, photographs and signatures were taken. This means that for the rest of their lives in the United States, DACA participants will have a heightened risk of being identified and arrested as deportable aliens. ** thehill.com/opinion/immigration/476151-removal-of-daca-recipients-has-begun-it-didnt-take-a-crystal-ball-to-see But NJ thinks having them sign up for drivers licenses is safe? iMHO anyone who signs up for the ‘legal’ drivers license for illegal immigrants is an idiot because there is no government data base that the federal government doesn’t have access to including the DMV database. That is a fact right now. Period. So for NJ to be telling people ur safe us incredibly misleading. Why oh why would anyone put their information on there now? Like It’s only 1 step less than going to ice HQ & Knock on the door. It’s not like the criminals who are here are going to do it, they can still get crap insurance that won’t pay people in an accident, therefore it serves no purpose other than a database for the government to use, and right now I do not feel the federal government is trustworthy. To me this is like the dumbest idea ever

Not confirmed, but showing on MSNBC and CNN
Iraqi TV: Senior Iranian military official and Deputy Head of Iraqi paramilitary forces killed in air attack near Baghdad Airport.
Israel and US have avoided killing this Iraniani official for years. He is like #3 in all of Iran. Very well respected by his troops. May cause very serious retaliation from Iran. No confirmation on who was at fault at this time.
Missiles have been hitting the airport for a while.

Pentagon confirms death of Soleimani. By orders of the president we have taken decisive actions in the attacks in Baghdad and killed Soleimani! Not a direct quote, I can't type fast enough. Per Pentago: Soleimani was planning on attacking US Diplomats and US military. Trump takes massive gamble with killing of Iranian commander
The Pentagon on Thursday confirmed the killing of Qassim Soleimani, the leader of Iran's elite Qods Force, in Iraq. By NAHAL TOOSI, DANIEL LIPPMAN and WESLEY MORGAN 01/02/2020 10:01 PM ESTThe killing of one of Iran’s top military commanders means the elimination of a dangerous U.S. foe — but it also represents a risky escalation in a volatile feud that could backfire on U.S. personnel and allies in the Middle East and beyond. The Pentagon confirmed Thursday that Qassim Soleimani, who leads Iran’s elite Quds force, was killed in what it termed a “defensive action.” Iraqi and other media said Soleimani died in an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport. Some media accounts described the airstrike as coming from a U.S. drone, but the Pentagon did not specify. “General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region,” the Pentagon statement said. It blamed him for recent attacks on U.S. troops and the American embassy in Baghdad.“ Even the possibility that the U.S. directly targeted Soleimani – especially on Iraqi soil – sent shockwaves around the globe, spiking oil prices and leading to instant assessments of the potential fallout. U.S. officials have long depicted Soleimani as a paramilitary and terrorist mastermind, deemed responsible for attacks on American troops in Iraq and against U.S. interests all over the world. Some current and former U.S. officials, as well as veteran Iran observers, said the killing was an escalatory move far beyond what they’d expected. “There’s no chance in hell Iran won’t respond,” said Afshon Ostovar, an expert on Soleimani and author of “Vanguard ** www.politico.com/news/2020/01/02/soleimani-trump-iran-iraq-093102

“When your only strategy is to abuse the presidency for personal enrichment, it stands to reason that your plan for massive escalation and potential war will consist of nothing more than tweeting an image of a flag and shouting 'Murica at the TV screen from your White House couch.”
“Correction: That should have read . . . "provoking a war from the decadent comfort of your Victorian fainting couch at your for-profit resort and emoluments reception center, featuring chocolate cake, Chinese spies, and a caddy named Lindsey."

”The United States has paid Iraq Billions of Dollars a year, for many years. That is on top of all else we have done for them. The people of Iraq don’t want to be dominated & controlled by Iran, but ultimately, that is their choice. Over the last 15 years, Iran has gained more....”
”and more control over Iraq, and the people of Iraq are not happy with that. It will never end well!”
And I’m sure the Iraqi people are thrilled with the presence of the United States in their country. Not really.
In case there is any doubt what is important to trump. Missing is the price paid by our military in this little endeavor.

This is a long piece that you can read or not. Worrisome! Mentions Barr's talk at Notre Dame and others..... Warrior for theocracy Bill Barr has gradually revealed his terrifying agenda: Who knew — and why was this concealed for so long?Published 8 hours ago on January 3, 2020 By Heather Digby Parton, Salon- Commentary ** Apparently the law and the Constitution are just wallpaper, which is an unusual thing for a U.S. attorney general to imply. As Stewart and Fredrickson point out, this explains why Barr is so willing to lie and cover for the libertine Trump:Within this ideological framework, the ends justify the means. In this light, Mr. Barr’s hyperpartisanship is the symptom, not the malady. At Christian nationalist gatherings and strategy meetings, the Democratic Party and its supporters are routinely described as “demonic” and associated with “rulers of the darkness.” If you know that society is under dire existential threat from secularists, and you know that they have all found a home in the other party, every conceivable compromise with principles, every ethical breach, every back-room deal is not only justifiable but imperative. And as the vicious reaction to Christianity Today’s anti-Trump editorial demonstrates, any break with this partisan alignment will be instantly denounced as heresy.Bill Barr may be the most unvetted attorney general in history, which is strange since he had served as AG under George H.W. Bush and was well known in DC circles. How could he have been confirmed as the nation’s top law enforcement official when nobody knew that he was a far-right religious extremist on a mission to use the law and the executive power to enforce a moral code? How many others like him are buried within the Trump administration, protecting this licentious president in order to Make America Christian Again? ** www.rawstory.com/2020/01/warrior-for-theocracy-bill-barr-has-gradually-revealed-his-terrifying-agenda-who-knew-and-why-was-this-concealed-for-so-long/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=3378

Hence, the socialists raised the once slashed wages and pensions, reintroduced paid vacations and retracted many tax raises, all while raising wealth taxes which affect only the rich parts of the population. Furthermore, the government introduced a property and real estate tax designed not to target the homes of average citizens. Costa’s socialists also put an end to the catastrophic privatizations that were once instructed by the EU and resulted in selling state assets at absurdly low prices.
Socialists at over 40 percent popularity
Portugal’s swift rise from a nation in shambles to prime example is remarkable. Costa gave hope and pride back to the people after the country was shaken to its foundation by the EU’s austerity programs and the failed previous government.
20 billion Euros are being invested
The remarkable economic growth of the past years is to be only the beginning. Under socialist rule, the economy grew so significantly that the money made is now set to be invested and returned to the general population. Portugal’s government plans to use the rising public sector revenue to transform the nation into a more just and modern one, after the conservatives destabilized the infrastructure.

Ron Howard...
“In the entertainment industry many who have known/worked w/ Trump think that while his reality show was fun and ran a long time, he’s a self-serving, dishonest, morally bankrupt ego maniac who doesn’t care about anything or anyone but his Fame & bank account & is hustling the US”
I think that about covers it.

I saw this and I thought good luck with that. I thought after two years of trump showing his true colors that it would be a slam dunk voting him out of office. Then reality set in when people said, including on this board, that while they wouldn’t be voting for trump they wouldn’t commit voting for the Democratic Nominee until they saw who it was. So if they aren’t voting for trump and if they don’t like the Democratic Nominee then just exactly who are they voting for in a two person race? And the last poll I saw 17% said they wanted to see who the Democrats put up first before committing. Then you have the crowd who say they won’t show up to vote unless this person meets all their personal needs. Really? Just exactly what is trump doing now to meet these needs? From where I’m sitting he is busily taking away things from all of us. Well if you are rich he’s giving you things. I’ve made it very clear I’m not a fan of Warren, Sanders, or Biden. But if one of them is the nominee I will be there voting for them on Election Day because we just can’t have trump for another 4 years. We just can’t. Look what trump’s doing now. He’s pushing us into a “war of choice” with a country that has a real military which means, if it’s not stopped, a lot of people will die. And those people will include men and women in our military. Let’s just hope people wake up between now and Election Day and not only vote out trump but vote all the corrupt Republicans that are shielding him. And yea, the Democrats must win by huge numbers or the Republican will do everything in their power to prove the elections were rigged.
