I've been using my mini for reading books. I was wondering about magazines. Do you have any of your subscriptions on your iPad? Which ones? Besides general magazines, I was also wondering about card making and quilting magazines. Which ones do you have? TIA, Ginger

I use a Canadian app called Next Issue. $10/month and unlimited magazines I can download and read without an internet connection. I really enjoy it. I like that the pages are interactive as well.

a friend gave me a subscription to People magazine that I read on my iPad. Each week I just download the newest edition in seconds. It's easy to flip through and read and delete - I love it!

Jot magazine is free and electronic!! It's scrapbooking/card-making focused.

I also use Next Issue and LOVE it. There's so many magazines to choose from, and you get unlimited magazines for $15 a month. I used to spend that on individual print magazines at Barnes and Noble every month. Not only do you get the current magazine, a year's worth of back issues are also included. There are even a few Spanish and French language magazines as well as a few Canadians ones-- I have fallen in love with Chatelaine magazine. I really like being able to read these magazine on my iPad or iPhone while I'm sitting around waiting for doctor's appointments.

Check with your local library. I belong to several public libraries that offer online books and magazines.. Philadelphia Free Library and Cuyahoga Public library. Both have free magazines that you can download from Zinio. You can read both current and back issues of the magazines they offer. If you live in state these are free. Philadelphia has an out of state fee of around $30. If you like their selections it would be a huge savings over subscribing separately to each magazine.

I subscribe to Martha Stewart Living, All You, National Geographic, Scholastic Science World, and IPhone Life on my iPad. I really like getting the magazines digitally, because I can take screen shots of ideas, photos, or articles I like, and then organize them in Evernote. When I'm done with the magazine I can archive it, but it's always available if I need it again .

I also have the Next Issue app. It's not only a Canadian thing. $15/month. I think there is a cheaper version if you don't want the weekly magazines like "People". There are lots of magazines to choose from, but none that are scrapbooking or cardmaking related. My favorites are probably the HGTV one and This Old House. I enjoy reading them right on my tablet so they don't clutter up my house. There are a few interactive pieces to some of the magazines that are nice, as well. The one thing I don't like is that downloading the mags takes quite a long time. And...I can't read them when I am out of wi-fi range. I tried to download a few before we went on a road trip this summer because I wanted to read them in the car, but it didn't work. I have to have wi-fi to read them. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Overall, I like it enough to keep paying the monthly fee!

Both Zinio and Next look very interesting!
I looked at Jot and couldn't find a way to download an app or even an issue. I saw that it seems to be a blog. I was looking for something to load onto the iPad so I don't need the internet to read them.
Thanks ladies!

I've been subscribing to digital magazines for years. Love them! I can keep them forever and they don't clutter up the house. Check out Zinio.com. They have a large selection of magazines to choose from. You can also purchase through the iTunes store or even directly from some magazines. One thing I like about Zinio is that I can also access the magazines and read them on my computer. I delete the older issues from my iPad for space, but they are still on my computer. Currently I am getting Martha Stewart Living, Cooking Light and Shape. I've gotten travel magazines and specialty craft magazines in the past. Pieceworks is one I actually discovered through Zinio. Here is the current craft magazines they have available: Craft & Hobby MagazinesI had never heard of Zinio, but I got a free 1 year subscription to Star Magazine through them today. I admit to paying for subscriptions for print magazines for US Weekly, In Touch & People, but I wouldn't pay for Star. I have standards with my "news"!

I still get several paper magazine subscriptions, and they're all pushing hard to have me move over to digital...but they make it really difficult. In order to do so, I have to sign in to my account using the name and address EXACTLY as it appears on my mailing label. I never get this right, so I have to go hunt down the paper copy of the mag to get the mailing label. Annoying. I know paper subscriptions are on their way out but there's something satisfying about holding a magazine.
