Is the very best version of Charles Dicken's tale. Ever. Full stop. No argument.
Watching it for the 4th time this month. It never gets old and yes, we do have to recite some of the best lines with the movie.
DS thinks that no new version should ever be allowed to be filmed, LOL.

We love it in our house too, and I agree - it's the best version! So tonight we were deciding between Die Hard and Muppet Christmas Carol - one's for tonight, the other for tomorrow evening after a hockey game (Go CAPS!), and Die Hard won for tonight (finished a little bit ago)...DD(26) and DS (19) had never seen it, so DH had to promise not to say the classic lines out loud. So Muppet Christmas Carol will be for tomorrow (or even Christmas eve in the afternoon, while some of us will still be wrapping presents, LOL).

Sorry, I prefer Mickey's Christmas Carol... and I don't even like Disney all that much.

I also prefer Mickeys Christmas Carol! 😁. Short and sweet and to the point! Also it was the first version of the story I ever encountered, so naturally that makes it the best in my mind. 😁
Muppets Christmas Carol is very good. But that scene with the cute bunny freezing in the cold snowy night under a piece of newspaper breaks my heart every time I see it. I can’t embrace it because of that one tiny scene. My mom and her best friend took my brother and I and her kids to see it in the theater when it came out. Her daughter is extremely tender hearted. That scene happened and that girl burst into tears, and continued to cry for the entire movie and a while afterwards. She doesn’t watch it now as an adult. I don’t think her kids have seen it. All because of that tiny bunny. 😂

I love it too. We bought the DVD that has the version of When Love is Gone, and we agree it is the best version of that story.

there's a commercial out now with the Muppets video chatting with each other, and when it shows Statler and Waldorf, I always sing "We're Marley and Marley!"

I finally got my DD11 to watch it with me last weekend. She loved it and wondered why she would not sit through it before. "Light the lamp not the rat" has become our line around the house

In full agreement, but wanted to also declare that the Muppets Christmas album with John Denver is the very best ever.

One of my favourite Christmas movies for sure!! In terms of the Dickens tale, Scrooged with Bill Murray comes a close second for me lol. I was so happy to see it on Disney+ - my copy of the movie is still VHS!
I've watched Muppets about 6 times in the last two weeks while working (I stream things for background noise while I bake). I've noticed that the Disney+ version elminates the song Belle sings in the scene from the past where she leaves Scrooge. Apparently the edited for TV version cuts that scene. It is listed in the "extras" section though.

Watching this right now. It is the exact opposite of the F/X /BBC version I saw earlier in the week, but I like both for different reasons.

I love it too. We bought the DVD that has the version of When Love is Gone, and we agree it is the best version of that story. I have that DVD too. That song is pretty important to the story. I love pretty much any version of A Christmas Carol, but the Muppets is my favorite. I'd like to watch the George C Scott one again. I haven't seen it since I was a kid.

One of my favorite quotes is the rats singing "This is my island in the sun oy, oy!" when they ask for more coal 😄

Never seen it. Or the Mickey one. Same. I really loved the muppets growing up (the tv show) but I couldn’t get into any of the movies. Maybe I need to give this one a try.

Yes, apparently Disney felt like children wouldn't like that song. It was my favorite one as a kid, so what does Disney know? 🤷♀️

I’m with you on MCC! The songs are so good and the comedic moments — “It was dumb...it was obvious...it was pointless...it was short!...I loved it!” Are beyond compare.

My 15 year old daughter and I curled up last night and watched both the Muppet and the Mickey version of Christmas Carol and I enjoyed the Muppet one more. I prefer versions that stick with the book and much of what Gonzo says it directly from Dickens.
