Pet peeve. I’ve been flying a lot the past few months. Both domestic and internationally. Currently sitting at the Vancouver BC airport. Every single trip there are people who feel that their luggage/bag/backpack needs its own seat in the gate area, rather than putting it at their feet in front of them. Drives me nuts! Of course when I ask if someone is sitting there, and they say no, when i ask if I can sit please, they look at me as though I’ve grown a third eye.
There. I feel better now. What’s your pet peeve of the day?

Omg. I’ve got 2 more hours till my flight leaves, I could get sucked down that rabbit hole easily. That account is CRAZY and makes my complaints feel very tame!

I only do that if the seats are empty, like at 5 am. But if there’s lots of people I move my stuff to the floor. How rude. I hate traveling because the most entitled people are there. Don’t even get me started about boarding group c crowding the gate before group a has been called.

My pet peeve of the day is the guy in the Jeep who couldn’t possibly abide people in front of him pulling to the side to make room for the ambulance and fire truck to get to the accident scene... which was right there in full view... and honked and yelled at three different people to get out of his way. Then he was mad I didn’t turn left on red and honked at me some more.
I’m guessing his pet peeve today is middle fingers but I could be wrong.

My entitled person saved a spot in the checkout line for his wife, who was on her way.
I was tempted to ram him out of line.

That Instagram is entertaining! Watching porn in front of all the other passengers? I bet he didn’t have earphones in either, making others have to hear it. Surely there has to be a rule against watching porn on an airplane. Especially if there are children nearby. My favorite was the window shade war. It had to be a prank because the guy messing with the shade in the other passenger’s seat was filming it. Why have your own window shade open when reaching to close the shade of the passenger in front of you? If it is too bright, put on sunglasses, a sleeping mask, or just close your eyes. That was pretty nervy.

I follow them on FB and I swear, the way people behave on planes is shocking, gross and hysterical (Sometimes all at the same time).

What’s your pet peeve of the day? Someone did this to me on my flight last week. I boarded last so I didn’t have to stand in the aisle the whole time (I was feeling dizzy, and was too self-conscious to early board). I get to my seat and there’s a dog in it. On a sold out flight. The woman says, “this is her (dog’s) seat.” I said my seat is 6A according to my ticket. The attendant walks up and looks at the ticket in my hand and says, “looks like it’s her seat ma’am.” The woman says, “No. I paid for this seat for my dog.” So the flight attendant asks for the ticket for the dog. Meanwhile I’m standing there, exactly what I was trying to avoid, starting to feel faint over an entitled lady and her dog. So then the woman decides to go through the motions of looking for a ticket for a couple minutes like the whole plane isn’t waiting on her and witnessing this. She then just gives up the charade and casually moves the dog under the seat in front of her. I finally sit down, we take off, and she actually started talking to me like she didn’t just lie a bit ago to take my seat. Like, okay, we’re just pretending that didn’t happen then I guess. 👍 Flying brings out the weirdos much like the DMV.

I’m traveling now, so I can relate to a lot of the pet peeves about flying.
Another one I have is people who talk loudly in hotel hallways late at night or early in the morning.

Two weeks ago, DD and I were flying home from LAX. I noticed the bag on seats thing too. Our gate maybe had 50 seats and several people had their bags sitting on the seats next to them. People can be so clueless sometimes. I LOvE that you ask them to move their bags so you can sit.

This was before 9/11, but I was asked once on a small plane to move my seat since a couple did not want to sit apart for a 30 minute flight. I agreed because I didn’t want to cause a scene (I was all buckled in and comfy). So I move seats and the lady in the row I moved to had her stuff under both her seat and what was mine. I had no where to put my carry on. The flight attendant was no help and she put my carry on in a bin at the back of the plane. Did I mention my carry on had all my money, credit cards and id in it?! Yeah, I wasn’t happy. And what was the lady next to me carrying with her - she was traveling with a couple of 2.5 water jugs!! And then she wanted to talk to me the whole flight. Thank goodness it was only 30 minutes. Not happy with that couple or the flight attendant!

As soon as the area starts filling up I’d be moving my stuff to the floor or my lap depending on what it is.

I don’t travel a lot, but I have heard too many terrible stories about switching seats to accommodate a traveling couple. Sorry, not sorry, but if you can’t be apart from each other for the duration of a flight, you need help. If you failed to plan properly to sit together, I am not switching unless it gets me a seat upgrade. And the lady next to you? I would have engaged in some self-help when the attendant mentioned the bin in the back by handing her the item under the seat in front of me.

My favorite was the woman who was bitching about the crying baby, then laid into the flight attendant saying she (FA) was going to lose her job as she (the screaming lady) worked for some NY politician....screaming lady got kicked off the flight and was placed on probation with her own job....karma's a bitch

We have had situations where we were not offered the option of choosing our seats at booking and the airline split the three of us up including our young child. Sorry, but NO. That didn’t work for me at all and I refused to let my four or even eight year old child sit between two complete strangers for a 3+ hour flight when DH and I would be seated 2-4 rows away. That’s just asinine and completely unacceptable, especially since they know the ages of the passengers when you book the tickets. We made a stink so that one of us would be seated with our kid and someone did have to get moved. Sorry not sorry. It never used to be that way, you used to always be able to choose your seats when booking back in the day. Now you only get those privileges when you pay exponentially more for your seats.

Along the line of bags on seats, I cannot stand the people who don't take their backpack off on a crowded train. Then are totally unaware of where it is in space and that it's smashing into someone's face. Also, I don't get it in general because someone could easily lift something from them.

So, you ask to sit, just as ANY person would, and they just stare at you? I do NOT get it !!!! It is horrible how many people are rude and self-absorbed! Another one I have is people who talk loudly in hotel hallways late at night or early in the morning. OMG...SO much yes !!! We had those "neighbors" annnnnd, they were also letting their doors slam at ALL hours !!!! DH and I were dealing with 2 arthritic doggies in a stroller, so it's VERY easy to let the door slam---which DID accidentally happen once or twice---BUT, at least we think of the other people and always TRIED to be sure it didn't slam. I also caught myself talking to DH WAYYY too loudly in the hallway around 11 at night, then felt terrible that I may have woken someone(s). I felt ESPECIALLY bad because I'm sure there were stressed out parents of little children who were hopped up because of Christmas, and how mad they'd be that some idiot (me!) woke them out of a sound sleep! Also, in the room above us, someone STOMPING around constantly--I kept imagining Sasqwatch/ Big Foot !!! WHO stomps like that? We stayed at two different, very large, newly constructed, pretty La Quintas. I kept telling DH with alllllll the rooms in these hotels, what were the odds we would be RIGHT NEXT to the slammers/ loud talkers Oh wait, there were probably MANY of them!

People have gone crazy with things like this. What happened to the "good ole days" where EVERYONE understood that a crying baby was ALWAYS a possibility, and if they couldn't handle it, then DON'T FLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or---why don't those people just get noise-cancelling headphones?!?!

I've been in situations where we did choose our seats and those were changed at checkin. I was flying with a 4 year old and a 7 year old. No way was I going to sit apart from them and my kids would have freaked. Our seats were all over the plane. Luckily the very last row by the bathrooms had space and we were accomodated. For couples wanting to sit together - I'd probably accomodate them iif I were flying alone unless it put me in a middle seat!

I just took at peak at that Insta....OMG, the guy PICKING at his bare feet !!!!!!!!!! I'll have to check more of this later. I wonder if there's a similar one about rude people in doctor's waiting rooms.....OMG.....everrry time I go to my orthopedic surgeon, the rudeness makes me so angry, which doesn't help my pain! GET EARPHONES to play games and/or watch videos, people! STEP OUTSIDE to talk LOUDLY on your phone !!!! DH and I are SO tired of hearing entire, longggg conversations----it doesn't seem real how oblivious some people are! I sometimes wonder if we're being punk'd

Its not just the bags on the seats in the waiting area. I was in OHare yesterday at 7 am, and the waiting area served 3 gates. There must of been 10-12 people sleeping spread across 2-3 seats. It was standing room only, there had been no flight delays causing people to be stuck overnite, I had been delivered to that gate for a connecting flight in a wheelchair (since I had to go from A to C terminals, and had broken three toes, and was in a boot) and no one would move, even the 20ish guy sleeping in three seats in the handicapped seating. First time flying with that airline, with that connection, and probably the last time. Four gate agents, and 'it's not their job to monitor gate seating'.
