I have an old Samsung phone and am trying to decide on a new phone. I don't use my phone for much, just texting (I use speaker function because I have trouble texting), facebook, etc.
The main thing I am looking for is ease of use and a good camera. I have daughters on high school poms and a college dance team, so I like taking pictures as they perform on the field. So I take pictures from far away so I need a good zoom and I also take videos.
I was at a verizon store this weekend, and the google pixel is on sale until tomorrow. I have to decide fast, so want pros or cons for this phone. I will probably get the 4xl size as my eyesight is not good up close.

I have a google pixel 3A and love it. It is super easy to use, takes great pictures. My ds's baseball team made Nationals in the summer, my pictures are just as good or better than the event photographer and if I had any knowledge of an editing program they would be absolutely as good.
I had a Samsung neo 6 I think and there was no learning curve. LMK if you have any specific questions

I have always read and heard that the Pixel takes amazing pictures. That would be the phone I would look into if I ever gave up the Apple.

My son just got the Pixel 4 thru his employer. It has 3 camera abilities - 16 megapixel telephoto, 12 megapixel wide angle, and 8 megapixel front facing camera. My son loves playing with the astrophotography mode. It does take amazing photos. My dh and I have Pixel 2 and my daughter has Pixel 3. No complaints about any of them. My dh and I are due to upgrade but I am still perfectly happy with my Pixel 2.

Thanks for letting me know about your phones! It looks like not many have this phone, but my sil says she is getting one also. I wish I didn't have to decide so fast, but my phone is so old, that I have to get something new. I have a samsung, and heard it's very similar so I won't have too much trouble learning a new phone (I am technology challenged!). And I guess it's always going to be hard to figure out a new phone since there must be many updates from when I got mine a few years ago.

My husband and I have Google Pixel 3 XL phones and love them. They were purchased mostly for the camera, although I am not sure about a lot of zoom photos. For reference, this is my husband's Instagram, which is 100% from the Pixel: instagram.com/stevenchawkins?igshid=196s25nuuvqbv

I bought the Google Pixel 2 last year purely so I could leave my SLR camera/lenses home when I went on holiday. Love the quality of the photos. However, I still don't have a cover! I cannot find any store here that stocks them and have found one on the internet recently which said it fits the 2 and 3 but I'm worried that it will slip off mine. And I have not yet sat down and worked out how to download my pictures to my computer so that I can print them out. I had an iPhone before and I loved how easy it was to just connect to my computer and it downloaded automatically. I know there must be a simple way - I just cant seem to work it out! So if anybody has any tutorials to recommend I would be very happy! Corinne

I have this case and love it. Pixel 2 magnetic wallet caseIts super easy. Just plug your phone into your computer via USB. Swipe down task bar on your phone and choose that you want to transfer files. 1. Unlock your phone. 2. With a USB cable, connect your phone to your computer. 3. On your phone, tap the "Charging this device via USB" notification. 4. Under "Use USB for," select File Transfer. 5. A file transfer window will open on your computer.

DH and I have Pixel 2s. We can get upgrades but see no need. Love the photo quality and the lack of bloatware (all those random apps that you can't delete from your device). We had Samsung's before and the transition was pretty easy. We use a lot of Google products and love the ease of access.
I will say the battery life was amazing for the first 6 months and has degraded from there. But I think that is common for all phones. It isn't bad now but I do carry an extra battery just in case for long days and/or heavy photo events.

I have the pixel 2 and really like it. It takes great pics but they still pale in comparison to my son's pictures from his iphone XR. I'm just not sure I can switch away from android. We both had Samsung Galaxy S7 phones before these and they were great for 8-12 mos and then suddenly had terrible battery life, got really hot, etc. Both of them. So we've sworn off Samsung.

Pixel 4xl owner here and LOVE IT. I have used them all, Apple, Samsung, LG, Motorola and this is by far my favorite. My phone before this was the LG Stylo 4, I also had the original, 2 and 3 of the Stylo over the years. I am very much a phone geek and a good camera is a must for my DT photos and video's and this one for sure fits the bill.

This is also a must for me. Cases you can get on AMAZON.

I just read that pixel 4 phones won't come with the unlimited storage at the original resolution that some earlier pixel phones included. That's a shame. It was a good incentive to buy a pixel.

I had to ask, because I have a daughter on her university Dance Team, so I have lots of photos and videos of her dancing on the field! That's why I needed a phone that takes good pictures!

Download Google photos to both phones. I have almost 100k photos in Google Photos (cloud storage). I also use Dropbox to link between my phone and desktop computer. It automatically backs up the photo files from my phone to the computer when I'm on wifi. I just keep transferring them to my hard drive (about once a month) when my Dropbox folder is full. I never physically connect my phone to my computer.
