Does the butter have to me grass fed? Can I start with regular unsalted butter? I know the grass fed is better but to start with for a few days?

Just a tip- do NOT skip the blending part. It emulsified it and makes it creamy.

I use Kerrygold for 2 reasons. It's delicious and its very easy to cut off a tablespoon from the block. I don't buy the sticks.

What is bulletproof coffee and why would you drink it?

What is bulletproof coffee and why would you drink it? It is coffee with a lot of butter in it. It can be a part of a keto diet. The fat is supposed to suppress hunger. The fat replaces carbs. Other benefits they say are that it slows down the effects of the caffeine so you have more energy longer.

That and I don’t want to use a blender every day. 😂. I use 2 tbsp of heavy whipping cream in my coffee, and 1 tbsp of MCT oil for fat, to boost my macros in the morning. And about 2 tsp of sugar free chocolate Torani syrup for flavor. It’s tasty and it fills me up until lunch time.

When I saw it in ready to drink cartons at Walmart I had to chuckle a little. Keto has become mainstream!

I use 1 teaspoon of Kerrygold for a 10 ounce cup of coffee and it's quite delicious. The butter, once it is blended, makes it very creamy almost like a latte.

I do the same as you except I use 1 T HWC and 1 T sugar free Torani. I love Brown Sugar Cinnamon and S'mores. I keep my Ninja in the back corner of the counter and it's worth the 30 seconds to blend to get the froth on top. So good!

I am trying IF and want to try the coffee to help me get through my morning fast. I tried the butter and coconut oil this morning. I didn’t blend it. I could get it down but wasn’t a fan.

It sounds gross and totally unhealthy. 1 tbsp of unsalted butter contains around 7 g of saturated fatty acids. A bulletproof coffee can contain about 2 tbsp of butter. This totals 14 g of saturated fatty acids, which is quite high taken on a regular basis.
Consuming large amounts of saturated fat can raise the level of cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol increases a person's risk for stroke and heart disease.

Yes I use heavy whipping cream in place of butter. It works in terms of balancing my macros. I don’t know about the coconut oil. I imagine it would be ok esp since MCT is derived from coconuts. But I absolutely do not know for sure the answer to your question.

I use a tsp or TBSP of MCT, can't remember, 2 scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen(for protein), and enough coffee for a travel size tumbler. Blend it thoroughly in my Ninja. It is just like a latte at that point. Creamy and has a nice flavor without having any sort of creamer in there. I don't like the aftertaste of the SF Torani but I have thought of just sprinkling in a bit of cinnamon or cocoa powder. I did a London Fog Starbucks Sunday with some adjustments. I used heavy cream and SF vanilla syrup. While it was good, the aftertaste threw me. Now I wonder if I can do it at home with just a splash of real vanilla flavoring.

I don't drink coffee but Trim Healthy Mama has several different recipes for "trimaccino" (probably spelled that wrong) that is somewhat similar to bulletproof coffee but can be made lighter or richer. Even if you aren't following THM, the recipe could be helpful Keto (or just for a yummy tasting drink). The basic version is 2tsp THM pristine (unflavored whey), 1 tsp MCT, 1/8 t Sunflower Lecithin (apparently has some health benefits but also makes drinks more creamy), 1 tsp collagen (could use more in place of the whey), sweetener of choice. I use this with tea instead of coffee. You could add different flavor extracts as well.

I tried it this morning with butter and a collagen scoop. I'm shocked how good it tasted. I used a battery operated frother to emulsify the butter. More filling than my usual drink with only collagen added.

Its delicious!! I blend some Kerry Gold butter, MCT oil and a scoop of collagen peptides in my morning cup(s) of coffee. Keeps me full (I usually won't eat my first meal until about 2pm) and its creamy and delicious. When I was consistently using half & half in my morning coffee (which I love), I was getting the worse stomach pains all day. Pretty sure I confirmed being lactose intolerant.
