I can’t watch right now, but I’ll come back later and check out whether you suck or not. Good luck with your YouTube channel!

Congrats on starting on this venture! Okay, two quick comments as I haven't watched all your videos nor watched them in their entirety. 1) I tend to blow past videos that are long so 8 and 13 minute videos are too long as I like a much faster pace and have a short attention span; and 2) With your Get Ready for Work Video, the intro music was loud so I had to turn down the volume, but you have a soft/low voice so I had a hard time hearing some of what you were saying without turning the volume back up. Keep in mind that I'm not much into YouTube videos to begin with, only when I'm searching for a particular topic, so I'm likely not your target audience. Keep up the good work as you have a very calming voice and persona which will draw viewers.

NO, you do not suck. Keep at it and continue to have fun. You’ll get better with the passage of time. Now is the time to grow a thick skin because YT commenters can be unduly savage. Good luck!

I like watching YouTube videos and I think the length of your videos is just right. 15 minutes while I’m getting ready or just relaxing is perfect. I don’t like videos that have a 10 minute intro before anything gets done. I think there are so many YouTubers out there right now that you really have to think about your mission or objective in order to stand out from the crowd.
What are you bringing to the table that other YouTubers aren’t? Are you going to concentrate on one area, like fashion or make up, or are you including lifestyle, nutrition, health, exercise, etc? Do you have a particular area of expertise or are you open to learning along with your audience?
I really like Dominique Sachse. She’s a Texan news anchor so she’s very comfortable in front of the camera and gained many followers very quickly with a mixture of vlogs and tutorials.
Have you thought about ASMR? I think your voice would be perfect for that.
HTH Good Luck!

“I watched an advice video that says you need to make 100 crappy videos before you get any good at it. I've got 4 so far.”
I haven’t watched your video yet, but I will say that I’ll bet their 100 crappy videos didn’t get posted. The more time you spend videotaping yourself, the better you’ll get. But if you’re not happy with early results, nobody says you have to publish them.
I’ve done a few videos just for a FB group I’m in, and I’ve done so many retakes just for those. Then I was challenged to do FB live and oh my word, my first was terrible! But it was in a safe space.

OMG, I am DYYYING laughing at : "but Nicole, you work on a neuro floor---do the stroke patients really CARE?" and then you paused for a while, annnd said "NO" That was HILARIOUS !!!!!! I think you have what is called good comic timing. What made me laugh was the amount of time you paused before you answered. I used to work with stroke victims---and it just tickled my funny bone what you said about them not caring about your hair. When I first started working with lots of elderly men, I never EVER thought they'd say flirty things to me. I didn't care too much if my hair was HORRIBLE, and told myself not to be vain, and....just as people say to you---who cares? Howeverrrr; I fully admit---I, like many women, just feel better if my hair and makeup look nice. So even on my "ugly" days, I would be shocked at how much some of those sweet, eldery men would flirt ! So no, you do NOT suck! Your voice is adorable and I'm sure it's very soothing to your patients, too. I only watched a few small snippets, but I hope you enjoy this and continue if it makes you happy. You are braver than I , for sure! I know that I would NOT be able to handle any rude/ mean/ snarky comments.

First off, I watched a few of your videos and you are freaking adorable! The only criticism I have is your intro music is loud compared to your speaking voice, which is soft and beautiful. I would maybe turn that down a bit to more match the level of your speaking voice. I think the lighting was great, editing was great and the length of the videos were great. Keep up and I wish you much luck...plus I subscribed!

Funny you should say that; just last week I was redirecting a confused pt back to bed and he looked at me and said, "your hair is pretty." He quickly turned from my most challenging pt to my favorite! Plus thank you everyone for your heartfelt encouragement, and to my new subscribers, wow! I vow not to let you down! I love my pea people

First, I think you have an adorable and compelling personality and would love working with you and being friends in real life. There are some great microphones out there that can help with the audio, because you do have a soft voice. (Pretty sure all the big YouTubers and podcasters use them. They make your voice very clear, like a radio broadcaster.)
My only real advice is that you are going to suck in the beginning of any new thing you try, so keep making your videos and moving forward. (I didn't think the ones I watched sucked though, btw...)
I am sure there are YouTube videos out there on how to gain subscribers, enhance the audio, write compelling content, etc. Several years ago I went to a convention called VidCon. (It was in Anaheim, but may have since moved to Vegas.) This is a YouTuber convention. I went bc my child wanted to go and meet some of her favorite YouTubers. (I had no idea at the time that there were YouTube celebrities and channels. It was very eye opening. When I was looking through what the convention had to offer, it included panels on how to become a successful YouTuber. I was going to attend those while my DD and her friend met YouTubers, but I ended up standing in lines for them. LOL. It was her birthday gift, so I didn't mind. Needless to say, I did not attend the panels, so I don't know how detailed or helpful they were. There is probably plenty of information on the internet though.
Good luck in your endeavor. Hope you have fun in the process!
ETA- Vidcon is still in Anaheim. It's in June

Okay. Let's see. I've been on YouTube for about 13 years. I have a small subbie count; only 2700. It should be more but my videos are pretty niche, and I haven't put up much in the last couple of years. However I WATCH videos every day. All different kinds. Here are my thoughts. You seem to have a good handle on the editing. Good for you! I still can't edit! I had trouble hearing you on a couple of the videos, even with both my volumes turned to max, so speak up or use a mike. I think you have a good idea of the type of videos you want to make. Watch lots of similar videos for ideas. Sitting talking with no movement, no editing, just you, is VERY hard to make interesting. You need to be very animated for this to work. You also need to really think about your background as people will be looking at it, as well as at you. You need to be a good storyteller if you want to do this kind of video, and you're going to need to work on your skills. Again, watch others who do this well for ideas. Two that come to mind for me are Graveyard Girl (who is way over the top, but certainly not boring), and Jessica Kellgren-Fozard. Both are great at just talking. Here are links: Jessica, Bunny (Graveyard Girl). Now, let's tackle the elephant in the room, as it were. Your voice. Yes, it is very unusual. As I mentioned, you really need to be aware of your volume. But you are going to have to learn to use it to your advantage. I was recently watching someone else who had a similar voice, and she sort of made it a bit of a joke. "Yeah, I know my voice sounds like I'm twelve, but I'm not, I swear!" She didn't take herself seriously, but she did address it. I thought that was smart. You might also want to think about an intro. Maybe you always say, "Hi, this is Nicole and yes, this is my voice. Great, isn't it?" Or something like that. To stand out, it really does help to be a bit bigger than life, especially when you're trying to build a channel. Oh, and you'll need to be putting out a LOT of content. The more days a week you load videos, the better. I hope this was helpful. Good luck!

Okay I really have to start getting ready for work, but I have to come here first and thank all of you. I have tears at all the positivity and constructive criticism; no one said anything mean or rude! And I discovered that my voice isn't awful! Lessons learned: 1)turn the music volume down and 2) turn the voice volume up! This is actually me too! I'm new at editing so I just stopped where I ended, lol. Some like short videos and some like long because they listen while they do other things like muggins said; I will see which ones do the best and steer myself towards those. My retention numbers aren't super good right now. OMG, good questions! My problem is I don't know what to concentrate on; my channel is about self-improvement and I need help in all of those areas. I don't want to go where the wind takes me, or hmmm, maybe I do. I'm supposed to find a niche; need to work on that for sure. If you’re concentrating on self improvement, perhaps break it down into specific areas you want to work on and then make a few of videos on each issue. ex. Video 1 - discuss why you want to improve a particular area, explain the steps you are going to take and the timeframe, give examples of how others might adapt the steps to work for them. Invite them to join you on your journey and comment with ideas or suggestions. Video 2- evaluate what you have been doing and how it is working. Discuss any changes you’ll make and why. Video 3 - follow up with how it’s gone and whether it has been a positive improvement. You can do this for each different area of improvement. I think the trick is to find things that are relatable to others and invite them to participate and interact with you so you can share the positive and negative. January is a great time for everyone to engage in self improvement. Perhaps use a published self help guide to start you off so you have some direction. Also, a ring light and good mic will help the quality of your videos. HTH

I agree on the volume that others have commented on. Keep being you and I think that with time you’ll start seeing your numbers grow. I’m subscribed!

I only watched a few minutes of about 3 videos. Honestly, I don't have a problem with your voice.
I second the part about the volume when you are talking. Too many smaller creators talk as if they are trying not to wake other people in the house. Or they just don't realize that their computer mic is not that great.
For me you kind of talk a little slow. I need a little faster pace in order not to lose interest. Hope that is not mean, but that is just how it is for me. I feel it is almost like you have not thought through what you plan to say,
Good luck with your channel!

I'm not much of a YouTube consumer. I'll seek out and watch a video to learn how to do something, but rarely watch just for entertainment. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed your videos and think you have many good qualities! I like the genuineness of your presentation --- seems more like sitting with a friend and hearing her explain what she's into these days.

Im sooo not trying to bash because i think it takes serious balls to do this... i could never be a YouTuber...
I did subscribe to your channel because im all about helping out my friends..
But to be completely honest... i dont watch these types of videos... i clicked on 2 of them and only watched a little bit... im sorry...
1st... It is your volume... it is wayyy super low...
2nd... Im sorry i know you cant change your voice... but it sounds like ur trying to do cutesy baby talk... it wasnt something i can listen to for long... if we are face to face having a conversation.. hell yeah no problem... but to listen to you talk about random... even for 8 minutes... im out..
3rd... i like to watch videos that are doing things.. like scrapbookers creating a page... or kits being unboxed or even subscription unboxings.. planners putting down stickers... or cooking something... but i dont like to just watch someone sitting and talking...
Its not you!!! It really is me...
Good luck and i will stay subbed.. i just cant guarantee i will get you a watched check mark...
If this is mean i really am sorry... im not trying to be mean..

No, you don't suck. Can I link you to another channel that is not very old and gets lots of hits, likes and comments? I noticed she adds hashtag with key words, she breaks up her video title with this symbol | and uses common phrases across the same type of videos, presumably to be picked up in seaches. it also categorises her videos, minimalism, home schooling etc. In her drop down area under the video, she adds links to older videos she's mentioned, you might consider linking where e.g. you got your clothes etc. Like you she is real, and not pretending that she and life are perfect and I think people can relate to that. Her editing is good and music choices are good, she adds written sentences over the video so it's not all talking, adding a different feel/texture to her videos. m.youtube.com/watch?v=j5UkYvopILI

I don’t look for fashion or makeup videos, but your capsule wardrobe video was really good! You have a great sense of humor and as others have said, great comedic timing. I actually LOLed at your comment about the spring outfit that might look better on... fire! 🤣 I don’t think you suck at all, and with more practice you will only get more and more polished. If I had to find anything that would make me like it a little more, it would maybe be to shorten how long you show each outfit at the end. I definitely liked seeing all of the variations you came up with and I liked the way you called attention to the different jewelry or shoes, I just would have liked that part to be sped up just a bit. Once I had seen each different piece on, it was easier to recognize it in subsequent outfits. It might also be neat to have sort of a collage of still photos at the very end of all the outfits together showing the different combinations side by side if that makes sense.

I was thinking about some of the you tubers I watch and how they have grown their numbers and it seems like quite a few of them have reached out to other youTubers that have similar channels to their own and asked them to do a collaboration video. I’m sure you’ve seen that type of thing yourself. But it seems to always get them some new subscribers. Maybe once you’re a bit further into it you can reach out to one of your favorites. I’ve watched this sweet gal Georgia Sunshine who does subscription unboxing, beauty, organization, decorating etc... grow from 1,000 subscribers to over 7,500 in the past year or so. It’s not huge numbers but she’s growing Best of luck.
